Where is your favorite camping spot?

I've loved camping my whole life! there's just something about being in the woods or in the mountains away from it all. there's a spot I like going to in somewhat northern michigan. they have 3 small lakes in the area, thick woods and lots of wildlife. the raccoons in the area are so used to people that they don't care if you are sleeping yet or not, they will make themselves welcome at your campsite and eat whatever you have! I've been told there are black bear in the area as well but haven't seen any myself yet. where do you like to camp? post pics if you've got them!

Small lake right behind our campsite.

On a camping trip to the West Coast, we had problems with creatures messing with our food at night. So one night we left out a bunch of "No Doze" pills once. We saw the raccoons eating the pills among the other "treats" in the pile of stuff left out. The next day we saw a couple of them zoning under a tree. We were laughing so hard we nearly wet our pants. :haha:

Those pesky raccoons were cute. The place that I have camped out at the most is dinosaur Valley State Park in Texas. When my son was real young and before my daughter was born that was the first place as a family we camped at. We have also camped out in Colorado several times and any place in Colorado is a good place. It has been longer than I would like to admit sense we have been up there. I may have to put that on my short list of things to do and places to go.

LMAO! that's freakin funny!

I'll camp about anywhere I can throw a tent up that's away from other people. Not a campground fan. I grew up in Colorado and camped in the mountains there a lot. Went camping in WY on my honeymoon around green river lakes area--really pretty there. Now usually just camp up the mountain from where we live or at the reenactment out in Colorado. Used to be we could pitch our tent about anywhere, but when I was 8 mo. pregnant with our second child and all 3 1/2 of us were still using our 2 man tent, I went and got us a WAY bigger tent. Now should never outgrow it, but it does sometimes take some looking and/or work to get a spot big enough to set it up . . .

I totally agree with camping away from others. the times I've camped in a full camp ground just didn't cut it for me.. sure everyone is there to have a good time. but when people around are getting so drunk.. and way too loud.. it kinda messes up the experience. at least that's my opinion anyway. and +1 for a huge tent.. I have a 10 ft by 18 ft tent. love it.

Both my hubby and I are handicapped, so for us to pitch a tent and sleep on a blow up mattress will not work because we could never get up off the ground in the morning. It's almost impossible for either of us to get up off the floor at home so it would be hilarious to watch us try that while camping! We have a motor home and we love to camp and fish and hunt. We like to be all alone and we leave nothing behind and you wouldn't even know we were ever there. We try to be as green as possible. That said, my favorite place to camp is anywhere and everywhere. See you on the flip side!

One of the prettiest places we have camped is Jalama Beach off of Highway one between the 101 and Lompoc (the turn off, then 15-16 miles over to the Beach).

I can't figure how to put in the images so I put them in as attachments. Sorry! The truck and camper in the first picture is mine.

We have 3 acres of woods in PA. I back my POP-UP in about 100 Feet and we are Camping. We just spent 5 days there. You have to bring what you need. All that is there is trees, fresh air, and peace & quiet.

Deception Pass State Park is my fav place to camp.

Yep, Jalama Beach is nice, BUT, chock full of (Los) Angelinos...And all their bad habits!

I prefer the more isolated camping spots in the Adirondaks (NY) like at Stillwater reservoir. Need a boat to get to them, but it's really nice. Of course, I also like to "primitive" camp on state land for less than ten days. Otherwise need to get permission from the state to camp on state land. It's all preserve land, so no motor vehicles or chain saws. It's really great!

I can't name my 'favorite', but I'll add a recommendation. If you are ever in the Gila National Forest in New Mexico, look for Snow Lake Campground. It's one beautiful spot.

Why can't I name a favorite? Because I have great memories from every single place I've camped. I've been fortunate enough to pitch a tent in about twenty or so states. Mountains, deserts, prairies, grasslands, swamps...etc. I've loved them all.

There's a place out in Tarryall that I love to go to but I'm not telling you where it's at

There's a COE campground near Iowa city, ia that I really like called Sugar Bottom, only draw back is because it's Coe I can't carry. So I'll say my favorite is Waconda state park in ne mo.

Try Pheasant Ridge Resort in west central Wi. They/we have some of the largest private sites in the US.

Private sporting Clay course for events, A large 3D archery course through the woods, Pheasant, white tail, turkey, private stocked fishing areas. Pistol and rifle range available. (far from sites and select times)

The resort is surrounded by other outdoor activities such as ATV trails, snowmobiling (the resort is open year round) Casino, canoeing, and some wonderful scenic golf courses and hiking.

The sites are designed so the campers are in a private area with full hook up and can't be disturbed by events or other campers.
Log Cabins, cottages, Park models, your campers, and cabanas can be owned and left year round by individuals who would like their own piece of the resort to customize for their private retreat.

I am always happy when I go to Tony Grove lake in northern Utah. There is a couple mile hike from there into White Pine lake (no motorized vehicle access) that is spectacular.
