America is a Christian Nation

I have noticed a pattern. There is someone on here that always seems to make a comment, then makes another comment immediately after the first. That is a sure sign of a moron, as a moron is incapable of more than 1 thought a time. I'll let you figure out who it is.

Come soon Lord Jesus

I have also noticed a pattern, there are many on here that do not answer any questions, in fact they just ignore them because an honest answer would point out that they are wrong.

Example, how would you, OG, Farm, NTS, Ringo, etc. react to an attempt to enact a law from the koran into civil law that you must obey regardless of your beliefs?

I fully understand that believers were programmed to believe often before potty training was even attempted. To that extent many are victims of well meaning but seriously misguided parents, who likewise were victims of programming by well meaning but misguided parents. But regardless of the reason, I still wonder how rational, educated people, with the wealth of knowledge available today, can just dismiss it and profess that bible and all it's nonsense is factual. Within the last week on these forums had stated that Noah and the big boat is a real event..... really? That is bordering on willful stupidity, the worst kind.

I have talked to a number of atheists/agnostics online and in person who were previously believers, until they began to question the nonsense they had been programmed with starting while still not in control of their normal bodily functions.

The fear taught by religion keeps many from questioning, others are merely lazy thinkers, or non-thinkers, it's just easier for the lazy.

The most common theme I hear is based on fear of reducible and repercussions from family and friends and fear of being cast out like a leper. Some have been very willing to discuss why they came to the realization that religion is the greatest hoax in existence, yet just to keep the peace in the family have not/will not tell family and friends.
Understood. But why call the guy stupid? He's not stupid just because he has hope and belief. Stupid is subjective. There's no test.

Not every question can be answered. Not every case can be argued or every fact be proven. Some people choose to only believe what is provable, others not so. Which view is correct? Neither and both.

I agree that there are many questions that we can not answer because we do not know the answers. Then when we do not answer the un-believer's questions they say we are avoiding the question. But even if we could answer the question, they would belittle, ridicule the answer because most of these questions are "gottcha" questions. They are not looking for an answer at all. They are only looking for more ammo to use against us!

They do not understand anything about faith and belief. I could ask an atomic scientist about how a nuclear bomb works and I would not understand the answer he would give, but I would believe and have faith that his answer is the truth.

So why can't the un-believer give us the same consideration?

Some questions are so straight forward that a believers failure to answer them is evidence that they don't really believe the stuff they spew.

Do you believe that your gods determine the moment of your death? If so, then why are you carrying a self-defense weapon? Do you think that you can override your god's determination with a firearm? If your god wnats you to die at that particular moment won't your firearm jam, or you miss the aggressor or some other thing will happen that won't allow you to prevetn what your god has determined is going to happen?

Those questions are not unanswerable because they are simply "what do you believe?"

Funny how difficult it is for believers to answers questions about what they believe their god wants or knows or will do with regard to their self-defense firearm, but they are absolutely certain they know what their god wants others not to do with regard to other peoples' sexual activities.

If you are a Christian this life on this Earth is as close as you are going to get to Hell, If you are not this life is as close as you are going to get to Heaven. ("I know there is not Heaven and I hope their is no Hell.").
Yep, an unbeliever/atheist's only hope is that there is no afterlife, their greatest FEAR is that THERE IS.

I have already answered that question once. I would raise hell if the Muslims try to enact Sharia Law here. We have our own Constitution and laws. Our laws make some of the practices of Islam crimes, i.e., honor killings, killing of infidels, etc. Nope. I would not sit still and see those laws accepted here nor do I think you, or any other, with any sanity would either. You do not accept Christianity but many of our laws are based on the Bible. Our mores have been established by the Bible. Our system of morality was established by the Bible. Ours was a decent country until God was taken out of our everyday life. Disgusting immorality has become the order of the day and people condone it without even thinking of how it has ruined our country. By their condoning evil, they have become complicit in it and will also answer for it. Sorry XD, I would not accept the laws of another country or religion to replace ours and, if you will be completely honest, I don't think you would either. Thank God there are many around who would also rally against such actions.

Muslim Sharia laws well as per the following articles in the Bill of Rights it is illegal
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Amendment V
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
Amendment VIII
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

Welcome to the End of the Age & the Last Generation
.

Matthew 24:34 - Mark 13:30 - Luke 21:32

"I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until ALL these things have happened".

Isaiah 5:20

"How terrible it will be for those who call evil good and good evil, who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness, who substitute what is bitter for what is sweet and what is sweet for what is bitter!"

Romans 1:21-32New International Version (NIV)

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Matthew 24:21

"For at that time there will be great suffering, the kind that hasn't happened from the beginning of the world until now and certainly won't ever happen again".

MARANATHA! :victory:

True, but a straight forward question can be answered. It's not a "when did you stop beating your wife" loaded question.

My issue as an atheist is that people (mostly christians simply because they are the majority here) work very hard to force everyone to live by the rules from their religious text. They become outraged that I strongly oppose their attempt.

Then I ask them how they would react if the tables were turned, and laws were passed that forced them to abide by laws from a different religious text, counter to their beliefs.

It is not a hard question, as they know exactly how they would react if they were threatened with having laws from the koran forced on them through civil law, but most seem to lack the courage to answer for it would clearly demonstrate their hypocrisy.

Some have stated that the Constitution protects against the rules of any religion being enforced by the government, yet howl in outrage when it protects everyone from the rules of their religion.

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev's promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.

14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms."

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. "Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art."

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch."

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture--education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat].

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use ["]united force["] to solve economic, political or social problems.

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction [over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction] over nations and individuals alike.

sinful nature is always hostile to God....

True, but a straight forward question can be answered. It's not a "when did you stop beating your wife" loaded question.
I spent a career asking people questions during cross that I already knew the answer to. Not being able to answer a question means nothing. i always coached clients that if you don't know something, say "I don't know." The loaded questions I see throughout the religious threads are from both sides of the issue. Sort of like asking "does your mother know you're gay? Yes or no." There's no answer within some strict boundary set by the person asking.

The argument is moot because neither side has a shred of tangible proof to support their position. Once again it's just arguing and insulting each other like children. Hard to watch but mildly entertaining.

But that's something you'll never hear from a believer. they think they do know everything because of their particular version of a book that has hundreds of versions.

And again, asking a believer whether they believe their god determines the moment of their death isn't a loaded question or a trick question. It is a simple straight forward question.

And I do know the answer for the great majority of self-proclaimed christians - it is yes, their god determines the moment of their death. Which of course, makes carrying a self defense weapon useless for them.

When one's actions are inapposite to their proclamations, it is called hypocrisy.

There are no believers in Foxholes - just a lot of hypocrites praying not to be with their sky buddy in everlasting happiness.

I had a college professor who taught theology and we scrutinized the KJ version bible. He gave us the rope to hang ourselves with; no student interpretation was dismissed, but was heard. The professor then said to take the bible as a book of reference, depending on your interpretation. He abhorred citing verses and using them to try to make a point to discredit those who would not parse the bible, but had a greater understanding of the whole within.

This coming from a professor was enlightening to me, as I've always worked with finite, known variables as an electronic engineer in years gone by.

I take the Bible as a whole. It shows the good, the bad, and the spiritual side of religion. I will not dismiss the Bible straight-away, as many tools of guidance, especially for hardship or need are within. I have found that prayer during difficult times a comforting outlet for my distress.

The constant, "believers against non believers" and vice-versa effluent on this forum topic is an absolute waste of resources. Using religion and belief (or disbelief) in God to leverage pathetic word wars here is fruitless and childish.

I believe in spiritual presence. I believe there is a higher plane of existence than we humans may understand. We are incapable of understanding it. It is beyond the scope of our limited intellect. My mother used to say I believe in my God. So be it. I looked upon her disapproval as a compliment. A paradox. It's what I believe given the resources in front of my face. It is my interpretation.

The fire and brimstone, God fearing mindset of heaven and hell was written by humans, subject to embellishment and other literary self-indulgence by its many contributors. I could go on, but will stop there. Take what you will from the Bible, as a whole, not parsed into out of context, point counter point bickering. It makes us look damned foolish.

Very astute. My sentiments as well.

nogods: Regardless of what a believer says, you attempt to twist it around. I, and others on here, have said that there are things in the Bible we can't understand but, rather than get hung up on something we don't know or can't explain, we go on to the parts of the Bible we can understand. XD is hung up on Noah and the ark. I can't explain it for fact nor can anyone else. I read it and go on to something else. You don't believe in the New Testament and say it is "Satan's Book" written by his minions. Then you belittle the Old Testament also. You apparently do not believe in anything Biblical so why do you even bother to make your inane comments? Do we believe God has determined the date of our deaths? No, but we do believe He knows when we will die and that our lives can be shortened by crime, accidents, abortions, etc. Not something He has written in stone. The most stupid argument you keep proffering is why does a believer carry a weapon? We carry one for the same reason you do (if you do). Protection of ourselves and families. God gave us the sense to protect ourselves, not to stand idly by while some thug kills us for sport. I know you have a difficult time accepting that thought but it is something you will have to live with. Maybe, just maybe, you will see the ignorance of that argument one day. And no, we are not being hypocritical by choosing to defend ourselves.

You say there are no believers in foxholes. Have you ever been in one when the SHTF? You contradict your self in saying that those who were/are a bunch of hypocrites, praying not to be with their "sky buddy." It is impossible to pray to someone or entity in which you do not believe. If they were praying they definitely knew who they were praying to!

In all fairness I've never heard it from an atheist either. Agnostics tend to be the ones who aren't demanding truth.

I know there is no evidence.... and with hundreds of millions of people seeking evidence over the centuries and coming up empty... what conclusion should any rational person come to?

XD is hung up on Noah and the ark. I can't explain it for fact nor can anyone else. I read it and go on to something else.

No, but I am deeply concerned about mankind's future, when adults believe that such nonsense is factual. You've obviously been around for a while, served your country, probably saw other parts of the world, and somehow earned a living... It shows how easily you have been manipulated, and I have concerns you, and people who think like you have been the roll model for their children, make important decisions, or even vote.

Do you buy snake oil, you sound like you would be easily be duped into the false promises of the snake oil salesman.

And science does know that the fable is pure bunk.

How old do you believe the earth/universe is? Explain

Creation or evolution? Explain
