I love the .45 but in all seriousness... just to bulky unless you can afford a sub compact...as well 9mm weapons usually carry more and are a lot more concealable...I do agree tho that there is nothing like a .45 caliber going off and definitely the noise alone will change whatever stupid decision the other guy is making

I almost got the Glock 33 but went with the Glock 22 generation 4 and got the 357 sig barrel with it. I have 2 guns in one. Thought about getting the 9mm for it as well but not sure yet.

Bigger is better but clothing dictates what is possible. After all, something in hand is better than that wish you left home.

I just sold my Beretta 96D because it is a MOSTER - difficult for me to carry and actually conceal, so I recently purchased a S&W Bodyguard .38 special because a) it's easy to conceal; 2) "Any gun will do if you will."

Yep I love my Walther PK380 and think it is a great choice. I stuff mine with Speer 90 grain Hollow Point's.

I love my G19, stoked with 9mm 124 +P+, but, truth be told, it spends most of its time as a backup gun in my glovebox. Except for late fall, winter and early spring when we wear light jackets in eastern North Carolina, the Glock is a little large. There is one gun that I have with me at all times, a S&W M642 with 125 JHP 38 Spl +Ps in my front, right pocket (leather pocket holster) and a speedstrip with six additional rounds. It may not be ideal for a prolonged gun battle, but it surely beats harsh words or pointy sticks... If I can fight my way over to my glovebox, I'll also have my Glock with three 15-round mags...

I carry a nine in the winter, but with T Shirts in the summer I carry an old-fashioned .25 cal. Sat. nite special in a pocket holster.

XDs .45 in the summer and I have the XDm .45 4.5 in the winter months, I love my .45 but I've being looking at the G26 also.

9mm, 40S&W, 45ACP, the rest is just opinion. They will all stop a bg. It's not the caliber, it's shot placement.

A miss with a 45 is much less effective than center mass hit with a 22lr.

Don't have a regular carry peace yet but have carried a 1911 45apc. Thinking of revolver with a backup revolver.

I like what the .45 does ballistically, but I am not the most accurate with it. Additionally, you generally don't have as many rounds in the firearm (which is an issue if you are not accurate with your shots). I think you can go with smaller calibers, depending on the type of ammunition that is used.

My wife has a Ruger LCR .357 Magnum and I have a Glock 33 .357 Sig. After shooting different types of pistols, we both like this caliber. Good Luck, Mike

it's good to see the 357 down where it belongs. :-) the great majority of the time, even a "mere" .22lr suffices, if you are doing things correctly, because 80+% of the time, you don't have to hit anyone with a bullet, or don't have to hit them hard in the vitals, to make them stop. The mere sight of your gun pointed at them suffices. everyone knows that you DIE of a bullet in your torso, without modern medical care, and the hospitals, must, by law, report gunshot wounds. so being shot= prison or death.
