Walmart has really pissed me off!

Sam Walton was a great man....you have to respect any man who can successfully make people happy about making minimum wage and calling 30 hours per week "full-time". The old women working at the stores wearing 25-year and 30-year badges will fight you over bad-mouthing Sam Walton.

If you have ever watched an 80 year old woman do the "Walmart cheer" with enthusiasm...you know its wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you, the current Walmart leadership doesn't have a clue. I know...I work for them. (not in the stores, though...we actually make good money in the Logistics Division)

Sam Walton was a great businessman - not generally great, certainly not a great patriot. At some point he should have seen his retail empire enabling communist China and disabling thousands of American town businesses, indeed, the towns. Walmart is the epitome of centralization and a degradation to individualism, i.e., proprietorships. Would he have approved the hundreds-thousands of American landscape acres leveled off for ugly parking lots and stores which perpetuate consumerism at any and all costs? His heirs don't have a problem with the picture. Would Mr. Walton have approved his company becoming the leader in China retail outlets development to the demise of American manufacturing and retail?
I avoid Walmart stores like the plague. I pity both Walmart employees and consumers. The ten percent of the stores' actual material necessities could be swiftly provided by local stores who have real skin in the community and its people. The rest of Walmart's goods and employment assets to America is offset by concrete replacing forests and billions of plastic bags and throw-away merchandise awaiting five hundred years to bio degrade. Walmart is about as un-American as you an get.

When this nation is completely transformed into Obama's third-world Marxist vision, Walmart will undergo little necessary change.

I have never had any problems buying ammo at Wal-Mart stores.
I just purchased another 250 rds of .45 acp ball ammo the other day at our local Wal-Mart.
There was this younger (30 something couple) standing nearby looking at exercise equipment.
I could see the subtle look of disgust & disapprovement in their faces (in the reflection off of the glass display case) as they overheard the conversation that I was having with the Wal-Mart employee who was assisting me.
We were both discussing the benefits of stocking up on "precious metals" ie; brass & lead in case the poop ever hits the fan.
I'm assuming that the 30 something couple were both probably Obama voters.
I chuckled to myself thinking about it afterwards. =-)

There are a lot of things I don't like about Walmart, but I buy ammo there all the time, have bought guns there as well, multiple Walmart's in multiple states. I've never had an issue. I feel pretty confident blaming your issue on living in NY! You've got to realize this. I feel bad for you guys up there but you've got to expect this. I'm from MA originally which is pretty bad compared to a SHALL Issue state, but realistically not even in the same ball park as NY/NJ or CA when it comes to guns.

I personally never had any issues buying ammo from Wally World here in SC. Usually just walk in tell them what I want pay for it there in sporting goods and then press on with my shopping. They have never asked for my ID or permit.

This really sounds like an isolated incident at that particular store. The general manager is probably anti-gun type. I OC and buy ammo in Walmart all the time without any problems. Walmart has the best prices for ammo so I purchase it there when they have what I want. They run out of it quite often. I would like to get it online but the shipping charges put the cost way above Walmart.

not everyone shops there......i do my grocer shopping at the local win dixie for the most part and the local 'farmers' market' ......i usually get shoes at marshals or clarks and very seldom do i buy new clothes unless it's underwear which i have enough to last me for years to come but when i do it's not walmart........so as a rule i don't shop there but i have friends who like to stop there and i go with just to browse not to shop....i don't even know if they sell guns and ammo in the one by me i forget to look when i go but i'll try to remember next time to see if they do.....i buy my ammo at lucky gunner.com or the gun show though

I agree. I buy ammo at Walmart in Washington State because it has better prices on brass cased 9mm and 357magnum than I can find anywhere (including on-line). The only thing cheaper on-line I found was not brass and I cannot shoot it at the range I go to.

They never ask for ID & never walk me out. You do have to pay for it at the sporting goods counter where they keep it in a locked case but after paying you can continue shopping if you want to.

How you are treated when purchasing firearms / supplies at a Walmart depends on what state the store is in. In pro gun states you do not have these kinds of problems in Walmart.

Sounds about right. No problems here in Arkansas. Deer hunters abound this time of year. Their always in WalMart in full camo. ATV's in parking lot with gun cases attached. Hooray for gun rights!! :victory::pleasantry:

I always buy my 45 auto ammo at walmart. I do have to find someone to get it out of the locked case. No one has ever treated me like that. I just tell them which one. They do require me to pay for it at the register before I get it in hand. I get carded to see if I am at least 21, but that is fed law. Most other places that sell the 100 rd boxes of Winchester 45 ball want at least $25 more!

80% of the time there is no one behind the counter so I get it myself. But have to pay for it there. Unless I go to the customer service counter, because no one in sporting goods) then they make someone go get the book. That way I don't spend my time waiting at the SG counter. I knida like it that way so I can browse the stacks at my leisure.

Living in the PRNJ (not by choice) you have to have a FOID to do anything with a firearm. buying a gun, ammo or primers and powder for reloading. The only good thing is that walmart here doesnt carry any of that stuff so you dont have to deal with their crappy customer service. I have to purchase all of my ammo and reloading supplies at a local hunting/gun store. Fortunately like me the employees there are like me... Pro 2A conservitives... toughing it out in a lefty state. Good customer service and good conversation... the way any small business should be.

I don't bother to ask to open the glass doors ever at walmart I hamburg or spring ville n.y because if you push on the one side of the glass it opens right up, then remove what you need and proceed to the cashiers. Works every time

There is almost always an employee at our Wal-mart. I open carry every time I go there and always stop to see if they have any ammo.

This past Friday, October 26th, I went to Walmart to purchase stuff I needed to get my family through the coming hurricane Sandy and Frankenstorm. I was in the Sporting goods section, looking for Coleman fuel. I should mention that this was in Suffolk County, New York. While there, I noticed that they had 9mm ammo at a good price, so I decided to purchase 2 boxes. All of the ammo was locked in a glass cabinet, so I had to find someone with the key. What a thrill! When I finally found a "friendly Walmart employee" that worked in the sporting goods departmrnt and asked if he had the key for one of the cabinets, he took an attitude and replied snappily, "Which cabinet?" I pointed to the ammo cabinet.
At this point, before opening the cabinet, he asked to see my driver's license and weapon permit. I challenged him, asking what law required such validation to purchase ammunition. I was told it was store policy. Not wanting to waste my time any further, I presented both without removing them from my wallet for closer inspection. After quickly glancing at them, the employee opened the cabinet and began lecturing me on the fact that ammunition comes in different "sizes". I asked for the Federal 9mm 115 grain BT.
This is where it gets really stupid. He explained that HE had to ESCORT me to the cashier, where I would once again be required to present my driver's license and weapon permit. Heaven forbid a customer should actually handle a box of ammo!
The cashier took the ammo from the clerk and asked, "Are you twenty one?" I responded, "I should certainly hope so! My youngest child is twenty one!" I paid for the ammo and was ready to get the hell out of the store. But get this. The same clerk informed me that he needed to ESCORT ME TO MY AUTOMOBILE!!! Guess there is a real problem with people throwing boxes of ammo at others or hitting them with it!
So here is my request: if you don't absolutely need to shop at Wally World, please don't. Maybe if they get hit in the wallet they will respect their customers rights.

FYI this is a LOCAL WALMART MANAGEMENT Decision, not one made nationally by walmart corporate... go to walmart.com and you can get the contact info for their corporate office and find out for yourself...
Their is a lot of misinformation out there right now about store policy changes by walmart that just plain b.s. ...

I would suggest contacting your State Attorney General Office and see if they are allowed to do so in your state & applicable county... there is certinetly no Federal Requirement, although it is on the list of things Obama-Biden would like to see happen (background checks using NICS system for ammo purchases)

Being carded is federal law? I've never been carded for ammo in my life. Of course, living in a "free" state has its perks.

Carding for ammo is not any current federal requirement. Atf.gov

It could be a state, county or other municipality requirement.

If it is, or just a store policy, either way they are required by law to show it to you in writing.
