open carry

You guys get your wish. I'm gone. I'll let you in on a secrete. I'm actually a writer for the Boston Globe. I'm doing a story on "Homegrown Extremest". It's thanks to my assistant Maggy I found this forum. My editor say to stop the research and start writing. You guys have been great. Don't worry the only personal info I'm allowed to use is your username and the state you're from. You can look for the article in the 2/22 edition of the Globe. Thanks for making asses out of yourselves. You people did not paint a good picture of "gun enthusiast".
Actually... you came into the forum looking for, and using verbiage that would go a long ways to engender, the result you are now saying you will use in your story and THAT doesn't paint a good picture for the Boston Globe.

I wonder what the reaction of the Boston Globe would be if the Publisher and CEO

http://www.bostonglobe.com/business/2014/01/30/john-henry-appoints-mike-sheehan-ceo-globe-names-himself-publisher/Kx6S41hpGz9OtfexsTlXxM/story.html

were sent a link to this discussion for their perusal? If you are actually writing for The Boston Globe I suspect those fellows wouldn't have much trouble finding your desk since there probably aren't many folks who have an assistant named "Maggy".

Edited to add: I personally am not a "gun enthusiast". I am a firearms owner who understands what the 2nd Amendment was written for and who also understands the role firearms played in creating this country along with the role firearms play in protecting this country plus the role of personal safety for the individual from criminals the firearm has played in the past, the present, and what it can continue to play in the future.

And one last thing... if you really are writing a story for the Boston Globe I pity whoever proof reads and corrects your article because they have their work cut out for them.

I wish you well...

John Henry assumes role of publisher, names Mike Sheehan CEO - Business - The Boston Globe

I would've "Liked" that post except for the part I put in bold.

I believe the guy is a flaming liar. There's no Globe article forthcoming from this idiot. No editor and/or proof reader could keep up with his lies, half-truths, grammatical, syntax or spelling errors, and thus, no article could be written by him and published because it would actually be written by the people having to cover the Globe's backside, not him.

Any bets this time on how soon before 2/22 he breaks his promise to be gone again? I'll go with 47.5 hours, if not before.

That's it. Yea, I guess I'm a slave. I just want to work, pay bills, feed and take care of my daughter. I don't have the luxury of time to protest these things that don't affect me. I have real problems to deal with. I do agree with all of you. Every restriction or law on firearms is in violation of the 2nd amendment. These laws and regulations just don't affect me. (Yet)
YET, and by the time they do it will be to late for you to do anything in response. That is why people are fighting now to stop all infringements that impair a persons ability to remain armed and legal.

I've been reading this thread for some time now and can't for the life of me see why this has gone on so long MHas is a troll by his own admission and he is still able to continually pull people into his dark little corner of the basement to consume their time and efforts for what, peace of mind, you're wasting your time and energy. After a couple hundred post on this thread and no one has gotten anywhere, Have fun guys.

I'm surprise MHas hasn't turned in his guns voluntarily. He's got to be at least one of the two classes of people he thinks should not be allowed to have guns: a child, mentally ill, or a mentally ill child.

MHas might want to use this in his article for The Globe, which I just can't wait to read (and I imagine the editor will appreciate the overtime required to fix his spelling and grammatical errors):

Massachusetts State Constitution:
https://malegislature.gov/Laws/Constitution

PREAMBLE.

The end of the institution, maintenance, and administration of government, is to secure the existence of the body politic, to protect it, and to furnish the individuals who compose it with the power of enjoying in safety and tranquility their natural rights, and the blessings of life: and whenever these great objects are not obtained, the people have a right to alter the government, and to take measures necessary for their safety, prosperity and happiness.

And that is the purpose of the 2nd Amendment.

Since you can't spell and don't know how to use grammar, I highly doubt you're a writer, unless maybe you count graffiti artist as being a writer.

Hope your Editor can spell extremist, because you can't.

Well, bye then.
.
But you forgot one thing... your job is to write facts not your personal or political opinion. If it's facts you're looking for you won't find them on a chat forum. And you might feel quite differently if it was your office attacked last month instead of the French. Are you saying that Americans who carry a gun should ignore your peril? If you're in danger should we just turn-away and leave you to your anti-gun views? Simple question, yes or no. Please answer it.
.
Media Whore - definition. A media figure who will throw their kids under the bus and then sell their sorrowful story to complete their agenda. A reporter or other journalist who believes getting the story out first is more important than getting the facts right. A reporter or other journalist who fails at objectivity in favor of a personal agenda. One who reports their opinion as if it's a fact.
.
Those who don't read the Globe are uninformed. Those who do are misinformed. Make sure you quote my opinion of media whores. Carry-on misfitocrat. But remember, America handed your liberals their hat last November. And Americans will not be disarmed, especially by a lying, racist, socialist politician.

I just think it's crazy that you all think that any man, women or child regardless of age, mental health issues or criminal history should be able to legally purchase a firearm and carry it loaded in a public area with people around. Anyone of you who wants to say something about age, don't waste your time. This whole time every one of you has preached to me "it's your god given right" bla bla bla "any restriction is a violation of my 2nd amendment" bla bla bla...no restrictions!!! Lets round up some children with autism and Down syndrome, arm them with Glocks and set them loose in a heavily populated area. If idea, statement or comment on this forum is "stupid" it's is the fact anyone of you would justify this scenario and tell me "0" restrictions on who can legally purchase and carry loaded firearms in public. I guess all us blue-bellied Yankee scum should expect such idiotic thoughts to come from a culture and heritage who also thought owning slaves was also their "god given right".

I guess I blanked-out while reading this thread, because I missed what you are accusing him of. Will you point me to the exact post where he said this?
I don't think you can.

Which is it? Do you have the worst reading comprehension in history, or are you just a troll?

Never saw the article. Did the Globe fire you before it got printed?

Personally I prefer concealed carry. I like the idea of not announcing that I should be targeted first or that a criminal may try to take my gun from me.

Then may I suggest you confine your commentary to the Concealed Carry Discussion sub-forum. The above post is 100% off-topic to this forum, besides being 100% uninformed and based in myths.

Well....to be fair. I am uncomfortable taking a bath during a thunderstorm in my fiberglass bath tub connected to plastic plumbing in my wood frame house. Lots of people avoid doing things because of a fear which has no basis in reality. It's just a matter of whether or not we are wiling to admit that our fears have no basis in reality.

Personally I don't care whether you concealed carry or open carry. I object to the "holier than thou" attitude on both sides. We spend too much time fighting each other and not enough time fighting the anti-gunners.

"almost none who have considerable self-defense training take this route.*Well-trained gun owners instead preferring to carry concealed so as to maintain anonymity so that they don't stand out as a target for criminals and retain the tactical advantage of being armed, but not visibly so."

Why would they open carry...they wouldn't get the chance to use all their "considerable self defense training," since more concealed carriers get chosen every day, it makes sense they would want to conceal it. Here's some more concealed carriers being chosen as targets:

From my experience, open carriers opt to get more training than concealed carriers. Concealed carriers who are the most ignorant about open carry spread the most lies.

I have read many posts on this forum from open carriers who claim that criminals won't/don't target Open carriers. This is a lie.

I really do not care if a person OC or CC! To me the key word here is CARRY! Each one of us has an opinion on carrying. From OC to CC, from IWB to OWB, caliber of carry gun, make of carry gun, ammo make, holsters, position and everything else to do with carrying. IMHO do whatever you are comfortable with but do carry all the time or as often as you can!
