I want to THROW UP at these opportunists- who continually want to disrespect & make upstanding members of the black community look bad- as they leech onto anything that will allow them to scream racism. Its been non stop breaking news on tv- this "innocent guy"- who did nothing. who was an innocent bystander who was walking with his grandmother (which is different from what grandma says- She says, she was driving and saw her grandson running)- and SHOT IN DEAD BROAD LIGHT- and all the RIOTING and LOOTING afterwards, according to the NAACP was due to anguished young ones- who, through hurt- had exhibited these actions. OH SHUT UP. A cop shot this kid for no reason right? So quick to jump to conclusions of course. Mind you Fergeuson is NOT an all white community by any means- its a community of largely black citizens. St. Louis is not some midwest city known for its racism. (undoubtedly, racism exists everywhere, just as does coffee.)

Mom was on TV- right away- crying about "how hard she had to just get him to go to high school" etc etc... what kind of people are able to be on tv. right after their son has been shot? Not me. Takes a special kind of special to do that. Two days later- mom and dad are on tv with their attorney. Mom had time to go to the hair salon to get her hair done- i'm guessing bc she felt she didn't look her best on tv the first time-. There she stands- a single line of tear- here and there- never everywhere. If that was me. my EYES WOULD BE SWOLLEN. I would scream if some opportunist lawyer from some expensive cooperation asked me if i would be on tv with him. I would say, do you not see? My child just died. I wouldn't say- ok- I'm going to go get my hair done.

So- mom stood there- SAID NOTHING. No elaborate words of wisdom. and when it was her turn at the mic- she throws out a line of tear- looks downward- and says- oh lordy lordy lordy- really?? Are you really here to honor and commemorate your son- or are you here to show off your new hair style and outfit? Oh LORDY.

Soooo many people showed up for protesting- including today- hmmm.... i wonder if these people called into work first before taking the day off? The looting- in honor of mike brown of course- involved about 13 stores in the fergeson area- and included cell phone stores, sports stores that sold athlete gear - stores that sold women's hair extensions. A QT gas station completely burned down. An Auto Tire store completely looted. What a state of chaos. But I expected it. Even the news stated that this reaction was "expected"...hmmm....

A lot of this inner city violence stems from drugs and gang bangers whose mothers are crack ho's and fathers are in jail so these kids grow up without a caring parent but look out when one gets shot, he was the most honest, hard working, upstanding young scholastic boy that would never do any wrong. How would they know? They haven't seen them in 10 years as he grew up in the streets.

I suspect the definition of a "good kid" has changed a lot since my childhood and adolescence. I was definitely not one, but my transgressions were minor; by today's standards I was a model kid. Nowadays, if a kid is not committing murder, then they were a "good kid" (and even if they do it is not their fault). They mean he was a good kid because he had not been caught and did not take any of their time or attention. He was a good kid because I could let him do what he wanted and he left me alone.

I suspect that in the schools these days, all it takes to be a good kid and pass is not assaulting the teacher.

Going from the eyewitness video in post #4, Link Removed I saw bias in the way it was told (understandably).

Maybe you'll find the new witness less biased. Doesn't appear to be on YouTube yet so you'll have to view her interview on the news site. That makes at least two witnesses who say the same thing about brown being on his knees with his hands in the air when the cop blew him away.

I did hear that he tried to disarm the cop as well. What I believe happened is that this cop took down a thug. And unfortunately- all the witnesses were thugs with zero credibility and the NAACP on speed dial.

The media is coining it as "cop shoots unarmed teen" - but leaked details (not official yet- nor confirmed)- if true- would be more like: unarmed teen who tried arming himself with LEO's pistol.

When the press release comes out for the LEO's statement- of what INITIALLY happened- it's just going to be the cop's word against everyone else. Bc who is going to be brave enough to come forward to back up his story? This occurred in a residential neighborhood. Most witnesses would be a resident- OF that neighborhood. And the town is 65% African American. No one is going to be able to back up the cop without a lot of back lash. Esp after the riot???

Poor officer won't have any back up from the neighborhood where he killed a resident...good thing he has his cheerleaders in blue to defend him "against the unconfirmed information that the teen tried arming himself with the cops gun."

The FBI sent a warning to the news, alerting of the possibility that the black panther party was coming to st. louis. Looks like is what happened.

I get the there have been police involved injustice- and a lot of you have personally been through/witnessed- or simply recounted injustices from the past that made headlines. However- no system is anywhere near perfect. It seems like unless these cops keep a perfect record of zero error (not saying anything about this case) - no amount of all the good shootings/arrests that they have achieved- would seem to make a difference to those who favor the opinion i am currently speaking of.

I'm too young to have much of an opinion on this. And my opinion would be too biased. My bf is LEO- and i've had nothing but good experiences with any dealings w/ LEO. I've been reading the threads about "encounters with LEO" - a lot of them are bad. A lot of them are about cops being on an ego trip. Some are good. I know i would be VERY PO'ed if some of those things happened to me. But despite any of that- I would still think that- the injustice came from the individual, who happened to wear a badge- and not from the institution from which the badge came from.

Not saying there's not agenda behind this reporting either, but it's a heckuva lot harder to insert while broadcasting live than by "creative" splicing back in the editing room at the station.

I may sound like I am defending the rioters but I am curious what options the rioters have been given. Wait for the law to take care of it (the shooting). The "law" is what killed the kid to begin with. The fox is in the hen house and he ain't leaving. I ask the question...how many more innocent lives need to be lost to LEO without any sort of backlash. If it was my kid that was gunned down by cops I am not so sure I could sit back and wait for courtroom antics...as if it would ever get to a courtroom. The country nearly burned to the ground in the sixties...not because of the Vietnam war but because of police brutality against our black fellow citizens. Some of you young cops need to read some US history about Newark, Detroit, Oakland, LA, Washington DC, Philadelphia, and all the others. You guys are building a bigger powder keg this time. BTW, I am a white guy that could see the smoke rising above the DC skyline in 68 after King was murdered. I was 12 miles away.

I'd like to ask you one serious question: If it turns out that the two witnesses who have spoken out are right about Brown having the kill-shot delivered when his hands were in the air and trying to surrender, would that be OK with you?

I watched current breaking news- and was pretty put off by the police brutality that was displayed against the reporters.
