I think you're referring to an incident that happened in Michigan. And that is not what happened. The ban was temporary, a court injunction on open carry, not all carry into a library, and after going to the state appeals court, the injunction was reversed, and state preemption was upheld as applying to the District Library authority. We can once again, OC in a public library.Totally agree. I know they're trying to make a statement, but I think they're going about it all wrong. There was an incident where some guys thought it was a good idea to open carry at a library and walked into the children's book area. Of course the police were called and it became a huge problem. Now there's a ban on carrying in libraries. So much for that smart move.
The last "confrontation" I had was some cute girl coming up to me, who said: "Nice Gun. Oh, and I like your pistol too." What can I say, I still got it after all these years. :wink:I have been reading posts from people who legally open carry and get into a confrontation with businesses. I would compare them to a woman whose attire leaves little to nothing to the imagination and then complains about the “unwanted” attention. It is my opinion that both are saying, “Hey, look at me!”
Businesses are places where businesspeople earn a living for themselves and their families. The businessperson may be a gun rights advocate, but must protect his business and his livelihood when his customers object or are uncomfortable knowing a firearm is in their midst. How would you feel if someone threatened your families’ livelihood? I know I would not be happy about it.
I do not ever plan on OC. It has not happened as yet, but if any business objects to my CC I will respect their right to make a living. I will not be belligerent, confrontational or vocal about it. If they are polite I will just leave. But if they are in my face, I will politely inform them that I am sorry but I will take my business elsewhere.
This part may step on some toes but I do not know how to say it other than being blunt. Anyone, while standing up for their gun rights, who would be confrontational, belligerent and loudly vocal may not have the proper temperament to carry a firearm. I would agree that we should always stand up for our gun rights. But I do not think the way to do it is to make a scene in public. The only thing that is proven that way is that there are some people who should not have a firearm. The Left is trying to make hay out of the Trayvon Martin case. We do not need a couple of hotheads pouring gasoline onto the fire.
He still looks better than Keith Richards.Yea I know, kind of reminds you of when Mick Jagger sings "time is on my side" I guess he's not looked in a mirror in a while, LOL

Have you checked out Ginger Baker lately? YIKES!!
Here in southwestern Virginia, open carry is legal. I've done it for years with no problems. Nowadays, I carry concealed more ofton than not, however, still will support the right of those that want to open carry. It is a choice, much like whether to smoke or drink, providing you are of legal age to do so. If it is in your legal rights to do so, by all means carry, whether open or concealed. Much like American Express........NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!
But, I do know this... when you see a man or woman packing... you know they are carrying "THE LAW" with them!... There is always a presents of "Authority" in the room or you just know... everyone is going to mind their peas and ques!
First let me say that the only reason I'm not calling this a troll post is because I promised the plank owner I wouldn't use that term anymore.
That said,
Posts like this (if they’re real) scare the Hell out of me. When I carry a gun, I’m carrying a gun not “THE LAW” not some “AUTHORITY” and not some implied intimidation that they’d better “Mind their “Ps” and “Qs” (And maybe take an English Comp class while they’re at it?). I carry a hand gun be it open (very rarely) or concealed for self defense as a last resort when all other options have failed.
IMO the implication of the quoted post is that the poster carries a firearm to intimidate the people around him and very likely shouldn’t be within 10 feet of a firearm without close adult supervision at all times
BlackHillstoday, I have to agree with Theo on this, .
Umm, it's TReo dude, there's another poster on this board who's user name is Theo and I don't want to get confused with him any more than you would want to get confused with icemanpls ( a previously banned poster)
Edited to correct the error. Thank you!
It's sad to see more gun owners against our right to carry a firearm. I dont understand you anti's. This isn't the Brady Campaign forum
