Walmart has really pissed me off!

I have never been carded here in Arkansas. No matter how much I've bought. I do have to pay for it at the Sporting goods counter unless no one is there. Then I take it up to Customer service and pay there. It's not even locked up.
Arkansas like Texas in small towns guns are just a way of life. Deer, squirrel, duck and other bird hunting is common here. I think camouflage is also the state dress code! :laugh: It's really easy going, gun friendly place to live. Now if they could just get open carry approved thru Little Rock (really different than rest of state) it would be as close to prefect as it could be.

If it is, or just a store policy, either way they are required by law to show it to you in writing.

Being carded is not federal law, but being 21 to buy handgun ammo is. I just happen to appear, to some, not to be my age. Some people at walmart don't card me, especially if they have before and know I am older than 21.

Federal law is that you have to be 18 to buy rifle ammo and 21 to buy handgun ammo. If the ammo can go both ways, then they technically have to verify your age after finding out what firearm type you intend to use it in.

Either way, I don't get treated poorly by any employee. If I ever was, then I would talk to the store manager and file a formal complant.

One time I actually had to call the store from my cell phone, ask for the manager and informed him I was in the sporting goods department for the last 20 minutes trying to find an associate so I could by ammo. Even after the phone call, still had to wait an additional 5 minutes until someone showed up.

WOW! I had to do the same thing once myself! I had the store number memorized because I would call and ask for sporting goods every morning about 7 A.M. on my way to work to check ammo availability.

No. They aren't required to show you anything under any law. They can just throw you out if you push it.

NYS penal law prohibits sale of pistol ammunition without a license.

My Local Wally World has the typical locked glass case. I know all the guys that work in the sporting goods department but still, they are required to maintain control of the ammunition until the sale is complete. Once the sale is complete I can walk all over the store with my ammo in the bag. No I.D. required. They currently have a 3 box max on ammunition purchases.

Not sure if it's a NY thing. I can see where you have to be 21 to purchase handgun ammo, as you have to be 21 to own a handgun. It seems to be store policy, since it comes up on the cash registers here in NC too. But, I've never had an employee ask to see my ID or escort me. I always try to buy the max 3 boxes allowed too. Next time, ask to speak to a manager and see the policy in writing.

Isn't that for the person/store selling the ammo, not the purchaser?

Next time, walk to the sporting goods counter wearing a blue U.N. helmet (preferably one with no bullet holes in it) and when they ask why the skid-lid, tell them it's for protection from customers who are getting so mad, they are throwing whole boxes of ammo around, and you don't want to get caught in the crossfire.

Don't know where you are in NM. , but I open carry in WM all the time. They only sell package liquor and beer, so open carry is OK. I mostly CC now, but occasionally OC just because I do not want to add more clothing.

I am from Delaware and we are a OC state. I do have a CC permit, and carry 24/7. Recently I have heard some The Walmart Stores in DE. are not going to carry firearms and ammo anymore. DE. is a very Liberal Progressive state, sorry to say. Just yesterday I heard the Walmart in Milford, DE. has emptied their gun case and ammo has been almost non-existant since the first of the year. The reason I've heard is because Walmart doesn't want to have to conduct background checks on private firearm sales, not purchased from them. I also have heard it is a thing with that particular store manager. They say she is anti-gun. If anyone has heard any more about this in Delaware ot as a Walmart national policy, please reply.

Their lobbyists have contacted members of our legislature using 3 different lobbyists for SB 23, Repeal the current legislation that the state regulate firearms and ammunition and allow local jurisdictions to develop their own laws. They have also used 2 lobbyists in connection with HB 35, Background checks. I have no reason to shop at Walmart for guns, ammo or any other items.

Here in Arkansas it's mixed bag. All them, that I've been in, sell ammo. Some also sell rifles. None of them sell handguns.

Some may not like Wal-mart, but other than doing away with guns and ammo, I'll still shop there for groceries. I spoke with them yesterday in the Camden Delaware store and the clerk said it is not only the Bloomberg thing causing them to make the decision to stop selling rifles and shotguns. The law in Delaware says they have to do gun transfers if they are going to be a FFl dealer. They do not want to get involved in person to person sales of firearms and the mandate to do the checks. so they are out of the gun business. They will still sell muzzle loaders and ammo, when they can get it. That has been as scarce as hens teeth so far this year.

WalMart around here has gotten to the point where there isn't anymore ammo but shotgun shells. Having to drive 45 miles one way to get it now, but they have got more than I'll ever shoot! And the weapons on display would make a grown azz man sing for joy! It's heaven and when I'm there I don't want to go home.
Just bought my wife a NIB M&P Shield 9mm there today. Gun belt, holster and mag holster next week.
I also got her a gift NRA membership and next month comes CHCL classes for her. Then we'll both do advanced classes together. See guys get them interested then you can do more shooting and more training.
The best part, no more trying to explain why I need more than one holster or gun!! :dance3:
