Teen burglar learns about the 2nd-Amendment the hard way.

Justice should be administered at the time of the infraction. Perhaps that experience will have a lasting impression on the ones who survived...

One for the good guys...

I disagree with the news broadcasting the homeowner's name, just in case this was a gang-related robbery.

I also think they two surviving teens should have a charge of manslaughter added to their charges.

I agree. The criminal thugs get to have their identities protected while the homeowners name is thrown out into the open for the entire world to see. That's just not right i.m.h.o.

This is a sobering story. It would be right to be angry at those kids for what may surely come for the homeowner: that is, guilt over shooting a 14-year old. Of course he was justified, but that doesn't mean his life won't be altered irrevocably. Even though justified, he may continue to suffer because of something he had to do.

Prayers for the home owner - and that the surviving kids change their approach to life.

Here's more on this story...
Apparently the homeowner is part of the neighborhood watch.
These 3 'kids' ditched school apparently looking for trouble, it looks like they found trouble with a capital 'T'.

I would have done the same thing of your breaking into my house and be prepared to eat some .380 hollow-points and your black , white , Asian , Hispanic , purple , red whatever color you are Idc.... Your eating my bullets

It's good that the innocent homeowner was able to protect himself from harm.

But it's not good when one person is put in the position of having to take the life of another person to protect himself. The world may be a better place without the dead thug, but getting to that point has most likely taken a toll on the homeowner.

People who revel in such instances are usually just expressing adolescent internet bravado or need some serious mental health treatment.

Hate to say it but the kid got what he deserved. And the home owner was completely justified in his actions!

I disagree.

Not about the deserved and justified parts. Just about the hating it part. I love it. This is the stimulus-response cycle writ large on a societal scale.

I do have to wonder aloud, however, is this a selection bias we're experiencing in the wake of the Trayvon Martin media fiasco? Are criminals really getting more brazen and paying the price for it, or is the media just paying more attention to the same level of deceased criminal elements than they have paid in a long time? Crime stats show crime continuing its decades long decline, but it seems that there is an average of one justified DGU a day, lately.

Good shoot and kudos to the homeowner. I was in this exact situation at my house but I made the choice to yell out when they rang the bell so they'd know someone was home. The guy claimed he had the wrong house and left in my scenario. I got his plate number and reported it but never heard anything further. No need to have a gun fight (or any fight) if you can avoid it because you never can tell who's going to walk away at the end.

You're in your house. Someone breaks in and you use a .380 to shoot someone in your house? Try a 12 gauge. Why would you use a small handgun in your house? Also, why JHP's in a .380? That's not a good idea either....

I wish more people would control their homes like this. Maybe the criminals would get a clue

There zombie defense ammo theyd rip your face off if I shot you in it

ROFL- That's realllly kewl! Where can I buy some of those?

You do understand that handguns are very ineffective compared to rifles and shotguns- right? Of course you do. Never mind that you want to use an inferior round that routinely fails FBI testing standards. If I could legally carry a shotgun around I would so why would I not use one in my house where it is legal? That is unless of course you don't have the strength to handle the recoil......

Good on the homeowner. It's a shame that a kid with his whole life ahead of him had to die, but he chose his path and knew the consequences.
