on-topic a manner as any thread can be discussed in the Off-Topic sub-forum.
Anyway, the world would be a boring place if we all just avoided talking to those that disagree with us, huh?
"Leave us alone" refers to the ridiculing and insulting nature of the posts (and posters) that I specifically addressed a couple or three comments to. Ringo, Oldgrunt and others and I have some disagreements about our respective faith, but if and when they show up in a thread like this, we don't ridicule each other over them. We either talk about 'em, or move on to engage in furthering Biblical understanding that this thread was intended to promote. There are many Christians who look at me like I'm from Mars when I talk about my problems with corporate churches. I am part of a tiny minority among the faithful who have ever even considered that there might be a conflict of spiritual interests in seeking favor with man's law at the same time and place that we seek favor with God. It would never occur to me to intentionally insult, ridicule, poke or indict them for their lack of belief in the exact same things I believe in, so your second sentence is as meaningless and inaccurate in its implied accusation as your first.

What do you do when you see someone post something blatantly stupid about guns or defensive carry or tactics, just leave then alone?
First, what does what I do in threads about guns and tactics, subjects which I know a lot about and believe strongly that unfettered access and knowledge of tactics furthers my God-given right to self defense, have to do with my question to nosreme about leaving us alone in threads where the topic is about something that he (and you) don't even believe in?
Second, show me where I've ridiculed or intentionally insulted
anybody over simple disagreements about guns or tactics. That ought to keep you busy for....well....

Why do you (christians) seem hell bent on imposing bigotry and bias from your bible onto 100% of the people through passage of civil laws? You personally may or may not be that active, but I bet that if a ballot initiative came up (such as the SSM Amendment 1 in NC a couple of years ago) you would vote to impose your biblical views on 100% of the residents of your state.
The only kind of initiative that I would even consider coming out of voting-retirement for would be one that forced the federal government to abide fully by the Constitution, which would leave marriage out of the purview of government altogether. People, including those who are not Christian, already had/have the right to practice any religion they wish, and if marriage had never been established as something the government had "legitimate" regulatory control over, no same sex couple, no ménage à trois and no atheist would ever even consider the wholly religious institution of marriage, unless of course, they started or joined some religion of which marriage was a part of its tenets. Being the individual liberty-minded person I am, I would never try to get government involved between you and your "religion" and how it handles marriage, because I am not stupid enough to believe that when government gets involved in your religion's practices, they won't come for mine soon thereafter.
So as usual, you are flat out

Preachers were pushing to get in front of the TV news camera at a rally to encourage the passage of christian based hate into law before it came up several years ago. OBTW, the courts have ruled it unconstitutional recently.
