A perfect example of moral hazard.
And who actually believes this quote from the article: “The Houston Police Department takes allegations of officer misconduct seriously. We are in receipt of a complaint filed by Marcquette Jones and the case will be thoroughly investigated. Due to the on-going nature of this investigation, HPD will withhold further comment on the matter until the conclusion of the investigation.”
And of course this PD standard: The Police Department has declined to release the names of the officers accused. If Houston PD had a civilian perp(s) in hand they wouldn't have any problem publicizing their name(s).
And the $25K that is missing... well, I'd say there are members of HPD whose financial lives have improved for the better, and is probably well spread among the ranks.
These are Gestapo tactics, where a group of so called public servants shielded by color of law are able to essentially commit any crime with little to no adverse consequences. When will the killings to get the loot begin?
