I have been reading some the members articles for some time. Today,I read some people were trying to locate Magazines (9 Rounds type) for the YUGO M57 Pistol and decided to give all a place to buy them and it as follows;

CUSTOM CLASSIC SPORTING GOODS

US made Yugoslavian M57 Tokarev 9-Round Magazines. With the surplus version almost impossible to find, we made our own version using an original, surplus magazine as the model. Carefully evaluated and approved at each stage of development, these magazines meet the high standard of quality customers have come to expect from CCSA. There is no longer a limit to the number of magazines per order.

To order if paying with a USPS money order, certified check, or personal/company check , please send an email with your name, shipping address and the quantity desired to sales@ccsportingarms.com so we can match your payment with your order.

Hi, I'm new here. I carry a Sig P239 and my wife carries a Ruger LCP. We have many pistols, rifles and shotguns and I reload my own ammo.

I have found that the little .380 ACP has been made a lot more effective with the newer bullet designs and powder development, like the Hornady offerings. In both the .380 and 9x18 (Makarov) calibers I like the performance of the Hornady XTP's.

I tested both using 3 gallon cooking oil jugs (square vinyl-plastic containers like milk jug material 12" diameter filled with gelatin) and an old army wool blanket three layers thick and they both made it into the second container with full expansion and about 95% weight retention. A total of 14" penetration. Standard .380ACP HP penetrated only into the first jug and stopped at 12", just dimpling the exit layer of the jug and 40-50% expansion and 98% weight retention.

9mm XTP (9x19) penetrated to 16-17", same expansion characteristics.

Testing using .40S&W XTP loads were consistently at 22" penetration, full expansion and again 95% weight retention.

All tests had pieces of the wool blanket in the first jug.

All were shot from a distance of 7 yards.

Thanks very much for your informative response and advisory, JPKirkpatrick.
Hornady XTP report very impressive, will establish that they cycle well regarding chambering and ejection. Expect good results based on the reputation of the Bersa genre.

Best regards to you and yours,
- Kai

For self defense rounds I like both the Glaser Safety, and the Mag-safe. I use phone books for my testing medium and both of the those rounds penetrate deeper and make a much wider hole than standard ball or HP rounds. That said they are expensive and you must be certain of the reliability of the cartridges in your gun therefore you must purchase a considerable quantity to test for feed and function including accuracy in your gun. Both the Glaser and the Mag-safe work well in my guns and the accuracy out to 75ft is excellent. The Glaser rounds are defeated by glass but you solve that by a double tap. The Mag-safe is what I carry in a .380

Thank you, jimmyjohn. The high tech improvements on ammo were not available in my younger days when I was more experienced in this rapidly evolving subject. Wife and I were gifted a year free pass to a nearby indoor range and your advised ammo is now on our list. Of course, as you specify, we will certainly determine the compatibility of the subjected ammunition to see how well it chambers and ejects rounds, and of course, accuracy also.

Best regards to you and yours,
- Kai

.380 ammo

Although I've never tried Hornaday XTR in .380 ACP I'm glad to hear of its excellent test results and can't wait to try some myself. I've used (Winchester ?) .380 Silvertips with border-line satisfactory results which is why I use +P ammo in my Detective Special (2 1/2" bbl.) as my concealed carry weapon. It gives as fine a mushrooming into a large, wet phone book as you could ask for.

Hello from Durango, Colorado

I just moved to Durango from the Pay-to-Play State of New Mexico. I had to give up my New Mexico CCL because NM doesn't recognize non-resident licenses.

Greetings to all from south-central Missouri.

I was an active member of Missourians for Personal Freedom as we fought to pass CCW in Missouri between 1998 and 2003. I've coached 4-H shooting sports and taught hunter ed classes as well as teaching Missouri CCW classes from 2004 to 2009. Advancing age and the growing number of younger and better instructors led me to retire from such activities. I'm now working part time as an assistant to a local gunsmith and having the time of my life doing what I love--working on a wide variety of guns.

My favorite personal carry weapon is a Rock Island Armory 1911CS Compact. But depending upon weather and/or clothing choices I may also or instead carry a Taurus Mil-Pro PT140, Steyr S9, or Kel-Tec P11.

I'm glad to have found this site and look forward to learning much from the other members here.

Maybe now that we have CCW Suzanna Matinez (R) for Gov, that will change. NM, the state where 'all' illegal immigrants can get NM Drivers Licenses, but FBI Background Checked and classroom Certified CCW's are deemed Illegal. Thank Bill Richardson and his cadre of 'D's, Oh wait, BR is in NKorea to stop the shooting. Maybe he will make it Illegal? Or at the least inspect His and Carter's 'Peaceful' Nuke. Enjoy Durango, enjoy the snow. Lots of it on the way :>)

Greetings from Central Minnesota!

Was given this forums link over @ USCCA and came over to check how things are over here :)

Hello Chris!
I am also from your 'neck of the woods', live in the Ellsinore-Van Buren, MO area in Carter County. I make it as far west as Moutain View and Murray Anderson's Gunsmith shop from time to time.

Nice choice in CCW weapons, mine is a Glock 22, or the Taurus Millennium Pro PT-140, or the CZ-82.

I have not been on this forum for too long but have found that there is a wealth of information and experience here.

Again, Welcome from a forum newbie and fellow Southeastern/southcentral Missourian!

A Re-Introduction

Howdy Folks, I am a dad to two boys 15 and 10 and a beautiful girl 12. This is my second litter as I like to say and I also have a daughter who is 31 who has also made me a Gran-dad three times already.

I originally joined this site back in June of 2009 shortly after realizing that my injuries suffered in Iraq left me as no longer the "Tough Guy" I had always thought that I was. And after realizing that I was going to have to start carrying a weapon to be able to protect myself and my family.

Somehow over the course of the past year and a half I have slipped away from here and have been spending a lot of time on my state board tngunowners.com ( Sgt.Joe also) and the US concealed carry association (PPK380). Along with lurking on several others and reading some fine books by Col Grossman.

I have greatly expanded my knowledge since that time, acquired a "few" more weapons but I in no way consider myself an expert on anything except maybe talking to my dogs.

Honestly I have just become bored with the other sites I have been on and wanted to expand my online presence with like minded folks.

My disease has grown worse over time and the need for more and more knowledge to feed it has increased. I have made purchase after purchase in order to fend off the disorder but to no avail as I still have a "list"

My last purchase on the long gun side was a fine AR that a friend built on a Spikes Lower and my last handgun purchase was the Sig Gadsden P226. I most recently had to purchase a real safe to keep my medicine in.

I look forward to catching up on quite a lot of reading here and eventually being able to contribute a bit of my limited knowledge and long winded and opinionated stories to the discussions.

Z29er, If you are still around ....Well Howdy Bro, I hope all is well with you and yours.

Howdy to ya RemoteCoder, I told ya there were plenty other places to be.:pleasantry:

For all the rest, the Warning is best given now.

I am old, ornery, opinionated and more often than not very long winded. But since I dont know all that much I tend to keep my mouth shut for the most part, I will say that I wish more of you would be rid of those foreign made Tupperware guns and buy something American! I am not worried about that comment as I do have a very tough skin.

I hope that every one of you are having a wonderful Holiday Season and will enjoy a very prosperous New Year.

I guess I could have just said "I'm back" but that isnt my style.
