Maybe You Guys will Understand How STUPID This Reaction Is

So are you going to have the courage or character to respond about your calling an active duty service member in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait a "mental midget"?
Why is he posing with a pump shotgun on a military base, in civies? Nor is there any indication where the photo was taken aside from inside a business.
are these "look at me" idiots also military, on a base?

Yes, it is their right, but it will not further gun rights, and will cause more and more business to ban guns.

Hahaha hahaha you two realize this is not even a Starbucks in America right? He is an American soldier in another country and they were told they had to be armed. This picture was taken years before the Starbucks MDA crap came up.
Actually no, no one in uniform, no indication where it is, no date, and I guess the guy at the counter is disobeying orders, as he does not appear to be armed.

And with a pump shotgun, is that army issue?

I've seen quite a few active duty service members (in and out of the CTO) that were text book examples of "mental midgets".

In this particular case had I been present when that guy unlimbered that weapon in the Starbuck's he'd still be doing push ups.

I think people just need to keep their mouths shut. Even if they were doing something wrong who would interject themselves into it?

This Is Why We Cant Have Nice Things ? Starbucks

Edit: I was contacted by the*individual pictured above. He is in the US Military, and for context, wanted to advise that this photo was taken in a Starbucks in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait in 2005. He did not request the photo be removed, just wanted to add context for this particular photo. -Casey

Calling an active member of our military a mental midget in another country...wow...pretty much seals the deal on your "courage and character".

Maybe it's a good thing you aren't "making statements" for gun owners...people would think we are all idiots.

Thanks for the info on that picture. That's a entirely different situation of course... But had I been out with my kids here in California, and saw some guy walking around in the place with a weapon ready for use as above, I'd probably take my family and leave.

The requirement to be armed depended upon many different variables including what unit the person was assigned to, what the current mission of that unit was, and under what threat level the entire camp was under.

And with a pump shotgun, is that army issue?

If you'd been in CA with or without your kids and saw someone equipped similarly, they would've been breaking the law. None of the pictures that you gun-grabber lites are b!tchin' and moanin' about depict people breaking the law in the jurisdiction(s) where the pictures were taken.

True but the Starbucks Pick of the guy with the shotgun is an action that is detrimental to good order and disipline If I outranked the guy he'd have been pushing till I got tired

and if I found out about you harassing one of my guys you would be in front of your Commanding Officer for a minimum of non-judicial punishment if not court martial because assigning "physical training" on the spot like that is against multiple regulations.

Our parking lot at work was getting repainted and one of the holier than thou civilian's reserved parking spots was unavailable for a couple of days. She did have a handicapped tag as well, but she decided to hang a reserved 24/7 sign for herself on one of the remaining available handicapped spots. An E-6 sailor of mine also had a temporary handicapped tag and he told me about the civilian reserving her own handicapped spot. I called base security, showed them her sign, which they removed and we proceeded to her office with her sign. She had an E-7 working for her and he mouthed off (just like you) saying "This is just a pissing contest with an E-6." I replied, "No, Chief, this is now a pissing contest with me, do you really want to go there?"

You mess with one of my guys and you mess with me and I am a terminal O-4 already eligible for retirement after 30 years - I really don't give a crap who I piss off.

St. Louis allows open carry in some towns and other towns restrict it. With legislation changing the laws in more and more towns to not allow open carry.
And sadly- here's what happened when people practice their right to open carry.

Some in St. Louis area carry guns openly to affirm rights : News

The starbucks here also used to have open carry group - would sit in starbucks in towns that allow open carry- in an effort to educate and inform the public- in addition to simply enjoying their right to open carry. Anyone is allowed and invited to sit with them. However- this has resulted in stick up their butts soccer moms and other "concerned" citizens to persuade town officials to change legislation.

Background info: I'm a reservist and I've yet to be mobbed... (Though I am now on the list for mob in the next year)

Do you guys really do that **** after boot camp? I've never seen anyone dropped since boot camp... and that's 1989. Maybe that's an Army or Marine Corps thing.

Not in the Army it's not (or at least it wasn't when I retired). taking that shotgun off his shoulder was an unnecessary and unsafe act. I have no way of knowing if he had a round in the chamber or what his intentions were (remember we're in a warzone and fighting an guerilla enemy who doesn't wear uniforms). I can't speak for the Navy but in the Army his actions would have been unacceptable and this E7 would have fought your ass all the way to the Division Commander

Depends on the infraction. Whenever I was an RSO weapons safety violations merited remedial training push ups or rifle drills. In my opinion playing grab ass with a weapon is never acceptable behavior I would have had him in the front leaning rest

Eidolon has been watching too much Full Metal Jacket.

Eidolon has spent too many years in the Army and seen too many young soldiers do stupid things with weapons.

@aacx22

Look at it this way depending on the infraction I have a couple of options I can drop you and give you an instant course correction or

I can have you spend your day off doing remedial training (for instance fail a barracks inspection and Saturday morning you remove every thing but the linoleum from your room and scrub each piece and the room to my satisfaction) or

I can recommend you for non judicial punishment (AKA Article 15 or Captain's Mast in the Navy). Now I can't speak for today's Army and I can't speak for the Navy at all but when I was on active duty depending on the infraction an instance of non judicial punishment on your record would set your career back at least a year if not end it.

Suppose you're married and living on an Specialist's salary, you're 30 minutes late for work and I count you as AWoL I can have you reduced in rank to PFC (there goes a couple hundred a month out of your budget for as long as it takes you to get promoted again) I can have the Army withhold half your monthly pay for 2 month (lot's of luck making your rent or feeding your kids there buddy) and I can have you restricted to the barracks and put on extra duty for up to 45 days (sorry but you won't be seeing a whole lot of your family for a month and a half).

Alternatively, I can make you do a push up or two (or 20) or I can have you standing in formation 1 half hour early for a week to really make my point with out making your entire family suffer for it.

Take your pick

Have no problem with OC do so all the time in AZ where legal, no one even notices, since in Texas you cannot open carry a pistol, many folks are open carrying a rifle or shotgun, I have no problem with it. If you fail to exercise a right, you will soon lose same. Just read the 2nd Amendment again.
