I've Challenged The People Of New York

Once again, not completely right. There are 18 counties plus the 5 in NYC that issue Target and Hunting Only handgun permits. The problem is almost statewide. If you are in a full issue county, thank the stars as that could change with the next sheriff election or appointment. Don't be so complacent, you will be in our shoes before long if you are.
I'm in the permit business. While some NY judges are wankers this is not the rule. At least that's our experience with thousands of permits in the lower Hudson valley. Weve seen unrestricted permits in nearly all 62counties. Despite a Democrat majority in the assembly there are no substantial gun control bills in the works for the state. Nearly everything out there is in committe and will be DOA even in the Dem assembly. In other words most Democrats aren't willing to enact more antigun legislation. Even Sheldon Silver is rethinking the issue.

Also, NYC issues carry permits. My partner has one becuase he picks up rents there.

There are ways to secure an unrestricted CCW if your really want it. Send me a PM and I'll tell you what to do.

The lower Hudson Valley is great as there are counties that are Full Carry without any questions asked like Dutchess. How about Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, Suffolk and NYC without carrying large amounts of cash? Also, all mentioned, except Dutchess, are renewable permits, not issue for life. Anywhere there is a population center, either pay a permit service for a decent chance or do without. It shouldn't be that way and to paint the NY laws as reasonable may be good for your business getting permits for people, but it is irresponsible as people should be able to get them without this service.

This notwithstanding, thanks for helping the system in NY sign the permits they try not to issue.

It's usually wealthy people that use the permit services as it's expensive. As far as renewals, thank God the only counties that can require renewals are named in NYS PL S400.00(10)...

"Elsewhere than in the city of New York and the counties of Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester, any license to carry or possess a pistol or revolver, issued at any time pursuant to this section or prior to the first day of July, nineteen hundred sixty-three and not previously revoked or cancelled, shall be in force and effect until revoked as herein provided. "

As I said, I'm glad I did it.

Check out this web site regarding New York gun laws...The state is practically Mexico!

NYS Gun Laws | NY Firearms - New York Firearm & Gun Ownership, Laws, Politics, Weapons | NY Firearms

Isn't it amazing that in New York, you cannot even keep a pistol in your home without permission?
There's a lot of wrong info on that website. For example, there is no law requiring guns to be locked up. There is no requirement in NY law requiring someone to show cause to obtain a CCW permit. My wife requested an unrestricted CCW for "convenience." No questions were asked. Also, in NY you cannot be charged with criminal possession of a weapon when using an illegal gun inside your home for self-defense.

PL265.02 - Criminal Possession of a Weapon
Such possession shall not, except as provided in subdivision one or seven, constitute a violation of this section if such possession takes place in such person's home or place of business.

being from boston i realize the challenge of gov. over citizen. taxation withuot representation in a form. I also understand the mentality of city people-that when challenged they fight. they try and either razzle dazzle you with brillance or baffle you with bs-even if they know they're wrong it's about the fight not the point trying to be made. proof of that is their arguments saying "guns kill" and crime being committed in major cities around the usa. guns don't kill-people kill and crimes are not committed with leagal guns carried by law abiding people.
It always amazes me that those who don't believe in something, fear most what they don't believe. And, those who know the least about something, claim to be the experts on the something they know least about.
as soon as i retired i got outta there even leaving my family and life long friends-i have to be true to my beliefs and be with people of like mind. so i live right here in west tennessee.

there are two truths-the perception of truth and the reality of truth

What do I have to do to purchase a new handgun?

You must obtain a Handgun Purchase Authorization form from the License Division before you purchase a handgun. Call the Purchase Order Section at (646) 610-5550 for information. After purchasing the handgun, you must bring it to the License Division within 72 hours to have the make, model and serial number recorded on your handgun license.

This is nuts. This is unConstitutional. This is serfdom. We're not even talking about carrying a handgun, but just the purchase of one.

When did the people of New York turn into sheep?

You're quoting NYC not NYS. The website is misleading. This not the procedure in the rest of the state. Anywhere else you purchase the gun, add it to your permit and pick it up. No denials unless you've been convicted of a dangerous crime since the last permit amendment. That permit is good for life in all but three counties.

The people of NYC control the state vote. 19 million state residents, 8 million of whom live in NYC. This 7 X 4 mile island has hijacked the state vote. These are foreigners and liberals who equate guns to crime. They didn't turn into sheep, they've been sheep since at least the 1880's. NYC residents remain fixed on this and won't change their mind. Contrary to popular belief, most Americans don't really care as they don't carry a gun.

New York City isn't New York State. New York City is in New York State. Most of New York State's 1.2 million pistol permit holders live outside of NY City.

In any event, there isn't anything unconstitutional about NYS or NY City's firearms laws.

In many ways, NYS firearm laws are a lot less restrictive then many so-called "gun friendly" states.

For example, NASCAR could hold a race in New York State and allow people to conceal carry in the stadium, but NASCAR can't do that in Texas. So in Texas, NASCAR races are gun free zones where the safety of you and your family is being unconstitutionally compromised.

To those inside the Empire State or within the Big Apple: Imagine that you suddenly wake up bereft of your NY life. You, your family and friends reside and work halfway across the country. You have NO NYS or NYC carry permit, and NO CHANCE of getting one. Welcome to NYS and NYC, as seen by the REST of the US.

There are many times more carry permit holders OUTSIDE NY than within.

IIRC the Constitution says "the right of THE PEOPLE . . . ", not "the right of THE PEOPLE OF NEW YORK . . . ". HR 822 is an attempt to fix what shouldn't need fixing - and yes, that applies to all states and political subdivisions thereof.

As a fully law-abiding NON RESIDENT of New York, I am allowed to speak there, worship as I see fit there, travel freely there, assemble freely there and do MOST of the things enumerated in the Bill of Rights as "The right of the people". But I am NOT allowed to POSSESS - much less carry - arms in New York.

How do I decide whether to attend the NASCAR race in Texas or the one in New York, each a ten-hour drive?
I do have carry permits. Honored by TX. Not honored by NY -- they honor only their own.

NY race: I lock my handguns in my safe at home and procede, unarmed, for the next two days.
TX race: I holster my handguns and spare magazines and procede, armed, to the racetrack. Unholster, unload, lock handguns and ammo in my vehicle, enjoy the race. Reload, reholster, visit with my friends, spend the night in a motel, drive ten hours home, armed, next day.

Uh, I'm not picking the NY race.

If you enjoy New York's gun laws, may the chains of your bondage rest lightly.

why would you risk your safety and check your constitutional rights by entering a gun free zone regardless of the state it is in?

Why does the state of NY not issue non-resident carry permits? In that case the entire state is a "gun free" zone to other US citizens who have to travel through it... Are US citizens who reside in other states, lesser citizens because they live elsewhere? I was born in the state of NY and moved (thank the good Lord) My mother is ready to sell and leave the state as well, she's tired of the tax burden and the BS laws...

I don't live there and I'm glad. I still travel there to visit family and feel so sorry for them.. No surprise you would support the crappy way they treat their residents... Nogood, Part of the problem not the solution...

a gun free zone is a gun free zone. Complaining about one while voluntarily entering the other is disingenuous.

Do owners of sites like that actual read the law and understand it or do they just make it up as they go along?

I'll let BC1 b-slap you with citations to the actual law in New York.
