Good for her! Each States should be different. If she wants to create a militia to guard her State, good luck to her. With the way she is and her State being treated by the guv, she should form her own country.

I also applaud her. But don't start her own country, we sadly need her, and many more like her, in this country right now.

Good for her. Would not surprise me to see nobammy nationalize her national guard when they needed it the most.Always good to have a back up.

I agree that we need here HERE, but if she started her own country, the borders would be secure.

Nice work! From what I read here and other places, AZ is getting VERY rough in spots....time to clean house!

Why does this woman have the cajones to do this and no other southern border or western state male governor have them? Have they all been castrated? Cali I can understand but the rest?

Way to go Governor Brewer! You have my support.

Actually, she's done nothing that unusual. If I remember correctly from my training as a recruiter, if you're "an able-bodied man between 17 and 45 and aren't a member of the service," you're already a member of the militia! lol. Here's more info and a link for more:
The Militia Actof 1903 organized the various state militias into the present National Guardsystem. With the passage of the 1916 National Defense Act approximately onehalf of the United States Army's available combat forces and approximately onethird of its support organizations were National Guard units. The Air NationalGuard part of the United States Air Force was established in 1947.
Title 10 of theUS Code states:
(a) The militia of the United States consists ofall able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided insection 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made adeclaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of femalecitizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are—

(1) the organized militia, which consists ofthe National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consistsof the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or theNaval Militia.[SUP][11][/SUP]
Many statesalso maintain their own State Defense Forces. These forces are federallyrecognized militia but not as an armed force service. Because of this, they areseparate from the National Guard and are not meant to be federalized. Theyserve the state exclusively, especially when the National Guard is deployed orotherwise unavailable.
Army NationalGuard units are trained and equipped as part of the U.S. Army. The Army alsooperated air units until the passage of the 1947 National Defense Act. Thiscreated the U.S. Air Force, as well as the separate Air National Guard. AirNational Guard units are trained and equipped as part of the U.S. Air Force. Both are expected to adhere to the same moral and physical standards as their"full-time" federal counterparts. The same ranks and insignia areused and National Guardsmen are eligible to receive all United States militaryawards. The National Guard also bestows a number of state awards for localservices rendered in a service member's home state.

One is a very good start. Now to get her some support from neighboring states.

One is a good start, but it's actually two because she already has the National Guard. I was trying to make a witty reference to the training aphorism about having more than one gun. "One is none & Two is one." If a states primary force is Nationalized, it would still have its secondary or "spare" citizen force available.

I agree the neighboring states need to seriously consider doing the same thing. If Arizona were to successfully close their border, the pressure would logically switch to the weaker neighboring states who then would likely become more amenable to the idea.
