A Glimpse Into The Afterlife

The One Who created it was Moses.

He was followed by Joshua.

Then eventually Samuel.

Then Nathan.

Ultimately Ezra and Nehemiah.

Then finally someone anonymous finished the Old (Tenakh) Testament with Maccabees.

The apostles and evangelists (missionaries) of Jesus created the New.

That's who wrote it -- and created it. It was for the benefit of neophytes.

Whereas Moses was literate and a prolific writer -- for the benefit of the Hebrews after he himself was gone -- he wrote everything down, as did the prophets who followed him and kept charge of the manuscript which being written on parchment (lamb skin) needed to be recopied every hundred years or so.

On the other hand the apostles and evangelists of the New Testament were secretive and did not write everything down until St. Paul began writing his letters to the Greek and Roman churches. Then suddenly Peter got the notion he too should write something down, presumably before his execution at Rome, so his stepson Mark served as his scribe. Then Matthew not to be outdone wrote using Mark's "gospel" (good-message in Greek -- efagelion) as a guide. Much later Luke did the same referencing both Mark and Matthew. Then finally John wrote his.

Note that Eusebius discredited "Hebrews" and "Revelation" so you should not take either of those two too seriously.
Human pride prevents the soul from seeing the Truth of God's Word.

Your arguments are as old as the Scriptures themselves yet God's Word continues. Nothing new since Satan told the first lie in the Garden of Eden.

There's no reason for you to believe any part of the Bible if you don't trust in the One Who created it.

The collection of anonymous men driven by superstition and the ignorance of the day... now you understand why it is just a collections of fantasies and fables.

Not at all.

The variety of men over a long period of time that God used to record His Word supports the fact that the Bible had one unifying Author.

Protestants tend to be very gullible.

I know of some who truly believe that God Himself reached down from Heaven and with quill and ink penned the entire Bible cover to cover in English -- thousands of years before English was even begun to be invented in 1066 A.D.

Right on.

Whatever floats your boat.

A belief system like that makes you as brainwashed and dangerous as a Muslim however. They have their own plagiarized rant called the Quran.

I believe Satan (his Hebrew name; means "the accuser") recruits mostly fanatics. Not intellectuals.

Intellectuals (who study philosophy and history) are not stupid enough to blow themselves up with suicide vests.

I can't answer for members of other denominations or religions but that sounds like a stereotyped statement.

I've never heard that preached at my church. Not even close.

You have no understanding of my belief system. No, it's not like Islam, and I'm not brainwashed or dangerous.

Blind fanaticism that rejects actual history is the same whether Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Sikh or Shinto.

The believers with whom I fellowship don't fit in with that description, so I can't speak for those others.

It's called folklore because it is passed from generation to generation over a long period of time.

In addition, strange supernatural impossible stories crept into it as well, like the story about the 4 guys walking around in the furnace, or the talking donkey, or the weird flying beasts with 6 eyes and 6 wings -- a cross-over between a spider and a Nile crocodile.

After only one hundred million years of eternity in HEAVEN; in HELL, not one second has yet passed. Enjoy.

Time does not exist.

It is not even an illusion for God(s).

It is something we mere mortals measure in heartbeats.

One heartbeat is a second-minute.

Sixty heartbeats is a minute.

3600 heartbeats is an hour.

24 hours is a day.

360 days plus 5 1/4 in an Earth's orbit around the Sun.

We tend to live around 100 or so of these orbits in a lifetime.

But Gods' lifetime(s) is/are eternal. There is no time for God(s).

Thank you for the concise executive summary. One sentence is pretty good work.

Can we get a summary? Maybe a line or two from the article? So we can decide if we want to click the click bait?

Great minds think alike.

I always hate whenever someone just posts a link without ever saying anything about it.

A good exec summary is 3 to 5 sentences. It would be very nice.

heaven or hell.

Often the question is asked, “How could a God of love permit such a place as hell to exist, let alone send people there?

I was brought up to believe people earned their way up or down, by the way they chose to live. Righteous up, evil down. God made the rules, people chose their direction.

To punish someone who deserves punishment is still love.

Hard love.

The Death of Death

Whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this? -John 11:26

When Jesus died on the cross, He conquered sin. But when He rose again from the dead, He defeated death.

Death is not a subject we usually want to discuss. But when you get down to it, that is what Easter is all about. Easter is about the death of death, because Jesus came to conquer death.

We don't like to discuss this subject of dying. It is a hard subject for us to talk about. Many don't even want to use the word death. They will use other words, like passed away or expired. We will refer to someone who has died as "the dearly departed."

Some, in an attempt to avoid its seriousness, will make light of it with expressions like "kicked the bucket" or "cashed in their chips." We don't want to deal with death. It is a hard subject to grapple with.

Easter is a day that marks the death of death. Death died when Christ rose. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die" (John 11:25-26).

You may be thinking, "Greg, are you crazy? What are you talking about-death died? People still die. Don't you watch the news? Haven't you heard about all of the horrible things that are happening in our world right now and the deaths of so many people? How can you say that death died?"

I understand that we die. I understand that our bodies go into a grave. But here is what I am saying to you: death is not the end. Sure our bodies go into the ground, but the soul lives on forever. The Bible says that one day our bodies will be resurrected as well.

This is the hope of Easter. Death is not the end of the road; it is only a bend in the road. When Jesus died and rose, He rendered death powerless.

Most people assume that as long as they don’t mess things up in their time here on earth, they’ll go to heaven when they die. But Scripture says the opposite. God created us for heaven, but the rebellion of the human race, in which we are all participating, has destined us for hell.

Hell, not heaven, is our default destination.
