Christians: This is why the atheists here don't believe you

I find it hypocritical...none of the atheists here have brought people together, yet they claim Christian's are the ones to tear people apart...

Unlike this bible thumping hate spewing christian?

Yess sir're bob, let's rally around the electrocution of gays, because my bible tells me so........

I don't, but that is not representative of every sermon, nor the views of every preacher. Here's more instructions from the same book.

XD, he's just another nut-job. He doesn't represent the position of the Christian church. There are cop nut-jobs, lawyer nut-jobs, politician nut-jobs, etc. So another nut-job. He does not represent any denomination's official position... exactly like Jeremiah Wright or Father Michael Pfleger.

I just read a post in another thread in which a Christian actually told an Atheist something to the effect of “I can’t wait to get to Heaven because I won’t have to deal with you there.” Really? What part of the great commission is that from?

Jesus Christ called us to the ends of the Earth to spread the word, he said “Go out into the highways and compel them to come in that My house may be full.” Do you think Jesus is going to be happy that he doesn’t have to “deal with” that atheist in Heaven?

When Corrie Ten boom was in Jail (waiting to go to prison) the Gestapo interrogated her every day and everyday she would go into that interrogation room and she would sit there and she would proclaim Jesus to the very people that killed almost all of her family. One of them actually got saved because of it.

I’m trying to get a point across and it feels like I’m writing a sermon (definitely not my calling) but guys, being excited at the prospect of anyone on the face of this planet being cast into the lake of fire is not a Christian principle. Jesus said “ By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35 NKJV).

The Bible says out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. How can you spew this crap and wonder why they don’t believe your God is real?

Please remember brother... pride can get us all! Go back and read some of the posts and see the real leaders speak up when they are wrong. Go back and read the posts and see the twisters.

Luke 6: 43-45
43 “For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, 44 for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. 45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Far to many times I love to take credit for the blessings that come my way...but not wanting to take blame for the trials and tribulations that I have sparked. Look at any of us long enough and you will see the many flaws. The real mark of a man and a leader when such flaws are recognized (my opinion and my faith) is to look to God in leadership. (forgiveness, love and hope)

Some will attempt to live the life and falter at times...help them get up.

We have builders and breakers

The builders always want to build!

The breakers always want to break!

Now let's not forget this is a carry forum so....if a bad man comes to your house wanting to BREAK your door down...offer him bread if he attacks your wife and kids...bang!

Perhaps you should re-read post #1 in its entirety.

I'll ask again, who is Eidolon being intolerant towards?

Sure, there have been christians who have torn people's lives apart, there have been atheists who have killed in the belief of "logic and reason". There are also christians and atheists who have not torn anyone apart, and brought communities together...

Of the members here...I find it hypocritical the most aggressive atheists and theists are the only ones generalizing and blaming.

What you call the most dangerous belief in society (religion) is because of extremists...and atheism has extremists here too. imo you are an extremist atheist, you are as dangerous to society as bluestar and SR9.

I agree, he is a nut job. Churches are full of nut jobs, on both sides of the podium. Here is a link to 10K such examples.

Not Eidolon, if you will look I actually 'liked' his post, for which he was attacked by BS99 for his comments, followed by Farmboy.

There is a core principle here that’s being over looked. Jesus sole purpose in coming into the World was to seek and save sinners, that’s the only reason He came.

So when I run into a professing Christian who says he loves Jesus then makes statements that are 180 degrees out from what Jesus Himself said is the primary mission for believers it causes me as a Christian to question the validity of your conversion and it causes unbeliever to question the reality of your God.

The reason people believed Saul’s testimony is because it changed his life, the Reason people paid attention to Peter when he preached in Jerusalem is because his experience with Jesus changed his life. Do you think people didn’t know he was the guy that denied he even knew Jesus?

Someone once said the single biggest cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and then get on about their lives as if He didn’t exist.

I chose to ignore you and your inflammatory posts. Hopefully the others will to. Have a blessed evening.

Haha, stuff like this is another reason. When presented with an opportunity to participate in a logical and reasoned conversation about their faith (even when the other party references their own holy book), many choose to avoid any real discussion.

It is not a date...don't take it personal. Just let it go....

sinful nature is always hostile to God....

Especially when the tactic is disruption. Can't have a conversation when rules are being dictated by one party. Can't answer a constantly-changing question.

I remember this topic in a sociology class. Atheism, just like religion is usually the product of "gut value programming." The term was coined by Morris Massey to describe the base set of values instilled during the formulative years by one's environment. Many atheists were raised atheist and thus adopted this as their norm. Most Christian who are raised in the faith continue the faith. Most Muslims or Hindu's also continue the faith. Those born into poverty and welfare likely continue the pattern. Those born into drugs and crime likely continue the life. Very interesting topic.
.
My dad groomed us from the time we were small kids. He instilled a work ethic, a school ethic and religion. Those values are credited with my personal achievements. And I find liberals, who are often atheists, want me to share those achievements. Share achievements built in values they don't believe-in. In some cases there is no value system programmed. In such cases the infueces are built from outside sources... ie; "the street" in the ghetto or the fundamentalist teachings in poor Muslim nations. Thus we are, in part, a product of our environment.

I'm taking nothing "personal", nor am I taking anything personally. I'm just saying that it's hard to take a person seriously if they avoid an opportunity to discuss something that they claim they are knowledgeable about and really believe when they are given the opportunity to do so.

So you ignore the christians that don't fit into your bias against religion?

No, that is not what I was saying, I was merely pointing out that even different sects of christians can't tolerate other sects of christians. Some pose a greater threat to society, freedom, and our future than others.

No where else have we heard similar comparisons? Oh yea, between the different sects of islam that are waring against each other primarily because they don't have a stable government to enforce civil laws. Of course one of the major reasons for that is a christian lead government (with a president that believed god told him too) took out the government and left a vacuum of power in its place.

Like everything, we are more concerned about those that pose the greatest threat, that's why we all carry firearms for protection. We have all assessed the threat and armed ourselves accordingly.

I'm sure there are thousands. But they don't represent the religion.

To millions of people they do represent religion, and millions follow their variety to christianity. If you move to the south, you going to be in for a big shock, as this type of religion is common across the buy bull belt.

Absolutely. It's important that those participating in any conversation make an effort to not only understand what others are saying, but to reply in a manner that address what others are saying. Otherwise, conversation just hits a wall or doesn't ever end up actually addressing the topic at hand.

So which is it? Religion in general or just intolerant sects of a certain belief that poses the greatest risk?

It's no different than generalizing all gun owners the biggest danger to society because some gun owners have murdered another person wth their firearm.

Intolerance seems to be the problem, excusing intolerance because of atheist or theist beliefs is just that, an excuse. Atheists are no more tolerant than theists, and are no safer for society.
