I agree with you. In my opinion, if you lined up 10 LEOs [of any or combo of agencies] and threatened all of them with job termination if they refused to break one of your knees with a baton for no damn justified reason at all, 9 of them would do it without hesitation. That's how corrupt I think they are at this moment - simply dormant corruption awaiting the catalyst, perhaps martial law, etc..

This is the kicker, in times such as martial law... those who we may never have imagined turning into thugs with a badge may do just that. Peer pressure is a hell of a thing, even for adults... or perhaps especially? How many lines of LEO have we seen videos or pictures from all over the world (or in person) where they all appear to be mindless, conscienceless, robots who are doing exactly as they were told, even when that involves beating people with batons, launching tear gas and arresting non-violent protesters? It happens everyday, our country is no different... it's happened here before and it will happen again, to our demise... the one we fear is going to be on a massive scale. A scenario that will likely escalate to extreme violence rather quickly... I believe it's just a matter of time before our nation starts tearing itself apart, again.

Peer pressure, being part of the group, loyalty to one's fellow officers... etc. These things are gigantic components in the development of the police state and the moral hazard that comes with it. When was the last time that we heard a ranking officer state that his troops we acting "unreasonably"? (When they obviously are, "we are looking into this incident further" is the common response.) I'm fairly sure that we can count on obey any order zombie-bots to be the one's confronted when the folks tire of they're being killed for the smallest infractions.

There was an incident last year with a car crash and one of the officers on scene shot and killed the accident victim. The shooter was arrested and charged with murder. I didn't hear the denouement of this particular incident but I'm willing to bet that this particular officer had some police house skeleton in his closet and he got thrown under the bus. (But, this could be one of the exceptions where a moral LE agency actually exists and bad cops, or trigger happy stupid cops are punished.) If anyone know anything more about this incident - pray tell.

Regardless, the story above is truly rare these days and the police are having a hey-day abusing the people and getting much of the practice they will need when people decide that enough is enough. I rue that day but it is coming and it will not be pretty.

That makes two posts now inviting this guy to opine about what he thinks about what some (or most) of us on this forum think. Considering his past posting history, I personally was enjoying his self-imposed silence since before Christmas. I don't expect his future posts to change my enjoyment of the silence in between, but I would love to be proven wrong on that score, so please....umm...."dad," do prove me wrong.
