It seems that improved background checks is what will pass.

So all the uproar was for nothing. Congress knows that people jobs are in jeopardy and do not want to put more people out of work. They also know that people who really want to kill will do so in one way or another.

See everyone, a cucumber has more potential to learn, and has more uses, than clutz here. For those that aren't a clutz, maybe you will learn something.

An assault rifles ban won't pass? There all ready is a ban, so what were they trying to ban now? Double ban assault rifles? Might as well go for three bans on assault rifles so we know they are serious....

What exactly is going to be improved in the background process? Instead of being immediate...Will they be pre background checks? And what if they find a criminal? They all ready admitted they don't have the resources to punish them...

Yes the uproar had nothing to do with swaying the government's mind....sending millions of letters, emails, phone calls weekly, if not daily, to state representatives did nothing...You would much rather not make such an uproar next time because it does nothing right? Pathetic.

America is still a great country and we do have a lot of choices. My problem ( our problem ) is a government who is trying and in some cases succeeding in passing laws that do nothing except make criminals out of law abiding citizens...

Always ask for more than you expect to get. That's what they are doing.
The AW ban and mag ban are straw men. They really want the universal background check. If they can get it and make it work, (doubtful, I hope) then we are screwed. Sorry to be so blunt.
It's back door registration and will lead to confiscation. It might take a few years, but with the increasing power grab they are pushing, it will only be one of the many concerns we are facing.
The only hopeful part is the fact that, in most places at least, private sales have been unregulated for so long that even if they were to pull all of the 4473's in the country (a huge task ), there records would end at the last "official" transfer.
Only a door to door search and confiscate order could get around that, and I don't see the American people putting up with that.

Because I had the audacity to reply to someone else (not you) about their call for a eugenics-based abortion scheme to rid the world of conservatives. You agreed with his post, then called me a fringe nutjob for ignoring your agreement and limiting my reply to only that poster. And now I'm "quite possibly" your hero? You damn me here with faint praise, indeed.

That's pretty close to my thoughts about Riverkilt and you after the above-referenced meme you expressed an unqualified agreement with when he posted it, and then ragged on me because I didn't read your mind that your agreement was supposedly limited to something other than the near-totality of his post that you agreed with!

But that post by Riverkilt should go a long way towards answering your own question; if calling for preemptive abortions as a way to cull the herd of conservatives only isn't reason enough to ban someone for having nothing of value to contribute, then cluznar is as safe here as if he were secreted away in his troll cave.
