long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every

Bush's administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that
national controls were better. On Wednesday Obama Took the First Major
Step in a Plan to Ban All Firearms in the United States.




The Obama administration intends to force gun control and a complete ban
on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international
treaties with foreign nations. By signing international treaties on gun
control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department to
bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government
signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to
those gun laws created by foreign governments. These are laws that have
been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations
and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are
designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all
firearms. It will never happen! The Obama administration is attempting to
use tactics and methods of gun control that will inflict major damage to
our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened.
Obama can appear before the public and tell them that he does not intend
to pursue any legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun
control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary
Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun
control laws.




Does that mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means is that there
will be no publicized gun control debates in the media or votes in Congress.
We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has signed
a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling
to the public.




We will wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty
that prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will wake
up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that
requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local
government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment. This is
not a joke nor a false warning. As sure as government health care will be
forced on us by the Obama administration through whatever means necessary,
so will gun control. Please forward this message to others who may be
concerned about the direction in which our country is headed. Straight
into socialism if Obama has his way... We are being led like a lamb to the
slaughter (Socialism/Dictatorship).

Just because those idiots in DC make some law does it mean you will abide by it? I truly hope the answer is a resounding hell NO. These people are not Gods nor Demi-Gods just ordinary humans. We will sooner or later have to fight the good fight. These evil elitist fascist pukes are trying to enslave everyone and we are the last bastion of hope to countries like Australia and England who have warned us not to relinquish our weapons under any circumstance lest we end up like them. No protection from criminals, govt tyrants or foreign military. We Americans may have to organize an armed march into DC and actually threaten at least 2 of the 3 branches and have some laws rescinded. Yes I believe a civil war is on the horizon in this country. Who's in? Bueller, Bueller, Bueller---anyone?
 
Sadly with all the technology at govt fingertips and their design and use of social websites especially ones pertaining to guns and how people like to brag about what they own they probably know who has what and where they all live.

- The Arms Trade Treaty has nothing to do with restricting the legal sale or ownership of guns within the US. As the name implies, the aim is to combat the illegal international trade of arms by setting international standards for import, export & transfer

- No treaty could bypass the legislative powers in Congress & must be approved by a two-thirds vote of the Senate

- Reid v. Covert in 1957 established that the Constitution supersedes international treaties

Sorry to burst your bubble but the day after the election, the US backed bringing it back up in the UN. March 12 to 18, 2013. And just as 0bama has told the DOJ to violate US laws and the DOL to tell companies to violate the WARN requirements, what makes you think he wouldn't instruct a Federal Agency to violate US laws to enforce a treaty if it suited him?

And as you note but don't understand, transfer is down to the owner level and includes ammo thanks to the Mexican gov't.

Please stick to facts, avoid rumors and try to make intelligent decisions.

Don't forget how he shafted Chrysler's debtors by unilaterally rewriting the debt covenants so the UAW would be repaid first. Spit in the face of contract law and hundreds of pension funds own Chrysler debt, tens of thousands of individuals own bonds too. Oh well! Assault Weapons .... by the original definition in US Law .... was "automatic" weapons, often with a "select" button on them where the "automatic" function could be engaged / disengaged.

Some gun enthusiast .... shoot "sporting rifles" ..... that have the same appearance as "assault weapons" , but are semi-automatic and have no automatic capabilities. We need to make them get back to the actual definition of "assault weapons".
It's not about "appearance" , but "function" of the rifle.

The world must proceed carefully to ensure that a robust treaty is agreed upon in the near future. His counterpart from Trinidad and Tobago, Ambassador Eden Charles, agreed with Dr. Dondisch’s assessment. He also made strong remarks on the need to incorporate ammunition in the Arms Trade Treaty in a more impactful way, noting the current status of ammo in the draft treaty is “deficient.” The lack of mention of ammunition under the treaty’s scope is one of the largest “missing pieces” identified by a large majority of countries as well as civil society.

Diplomats voted on 7 November to hold a final UN Conference on the ATT in March 2013. The vote came on the last day of the UN’s First Committee and was passed with an unprecedented 157 votes in favour, 18 abstentions and 0 votes against.

Mexico needs to shut the hell up and get its own house in order before opining on the topic of anything related to guns, violence, or gun violence. Ammunition? As in what kinds? Well sounds to me like they wanna ban all of it since all ammo has the potential to kill.

In their universe, I'm sure they think if the UN bans small arms, all of their banditos and gang bangers will turn in their guns and become meek peasants, like the rest of Mexico's "middle" class...

  • Threaded barrel to attach barrel extender, flash suppressor, handgrip, or suppressor
  • Barrel shroud that can be used as a hand-hold
  • Unloaded weight of 50 oz (1.4 kg) or more
  • A semi-automatic version of a fully automatic firearm.
Semi-automatic shotguns with two or more of the following:
  • Folding or telescoping stock
  • Pistol grip
  • Fixed capacity of more than 5 rounds
  • Detachable magazine.
 
Of the 9,203 Murders committed by firearms in 2009 only 352 were committed by rifles. That includes ALL styles of rifles. (Source: U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Uniform Crime Reporting Program, Return A Master Files.) So I ask. Why the big push to ban assault rifles?

Hell! that many people are killed in just over a week by unlicensed drivers. (source: Data obtained from the National Highway Traffic safety Administration)

I have one that will and was on the original ban list. You can carry it there as long as you take out the mag and don't mind the 6 lb empty weight. And the added weight of 30 rounds of .45 ACP in a Sten mag.
