Ok the articulating a need for a carry permit is one thing but I don't see prohibiting those under 21 from purchasing handguns as a huge problem, in fact I actually have no problem with it. It's not like the law has been rewritten from the bench the way it was in NY. In my opinion, 18-20 (and all ages below legal adult status) year olds are not mature enough to own a concealable firearm, I don't care how much training they've had, their brains aren't fully developed so they don't always make the best decisions. I don't even believe 18 year olds should be allowed to drive because of all of the stupid, immature crap they do with a car...it's exponentially worse now that when I was a teenager because no one had cell phones. If they can't handle driving a car, how am I supposed to feel safe with a carload of them next to me possibly carrying legally purchased handguns when I can't legally carry since I live in Illinois. Break the law and carry anyway? I realize 21 is an arbitrary age but the drinking age is 21 for a reason too.
