God & the Bible, squaring belief with reality

Don't go by what they say - EVER.
ALWAYS watch their actions.

Say they love the Lord.
Say they love their neighbor.
They have witness to actions that back this up.

If I see you helping someone less fortunate than yourself I will watch with interest and join with you in assistance if possible.
If I hear you talking about your beliefs or your righteousness or your world view and otherwise clanging your cymbal, I will be somewhat less interested.

You don't even have to concern yourself with judging them.
Just be careful to make sure that what YOU do meets your best expectations of yourself.
Keep striving to be even better.
(Later in this thread I notice people - who should know better - trying to belittle someone and otherwise draw attention to his literary flaws just to score points in an argument. This is the sort of thing I hope we can strive to be above.)

Lastly I'm not proclaiming to have insight or wisdom. I am merely giving my honest opinion about what I've observed on this thread. It is up to other people to decide whether what I've said matches what they know in the core of their mind to be true. Or otherwise of course .

This site for me has been an inspiration to study and research, it has rekindled the passion to investigate. For this I am thankful.
I am involved in a lot situations where folks debate life and struggles. The only time I really see them "walk" from the guarantee and security of the hope, after this life with God, is when a deep trauma or injustice has occurred. I am a follower of Jesus Christ, I have that relationship. Everyone follows something, everyone trusts in something (your looks, your strength, your SA XD45, maybe nature or your intelligence. What or whom do you follow?

Signs of the End of the Age & the Last Generation.

It's possible that the Russians may have been reading the Bible (Isaiah 17), their timing couldn't be better. Link Removed

The only problem with this is what if YOUR book ( that has so so many flaws in it already to have been shown ) is wrong? What if the Jews are right? Maybe the muslims are correct? Maybe us realists are correct? What if any of the hundreds of thousands of "religions" out there are the real one?
The Bible declares that the prophecies it provides concerning Israel supply the irrefutable evidence for God's existence—and for the fact that He has a purpose for mankind. History is not merely happenstance. It is going somewhere. There is a plan. Biblical prophecies declare it irrefutably.

Prophecy, which reveals God's plan in advance, is the missing element in all sacred scriptures of the world's religions, because false gods cannot provide it. Prophecy is not to be found in the Koran, the Hindu Vedas, the Bhagavad-Gita, the Book of Mormon, the sayings of Buddha, the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. In contrast, prophecy comprises about 30 percent of the Bible.

Significantly, the God of the Bible identifies Himself as the One who accurately foretells the future and makes certain that it happens as He said it would. In fact, God points to prophecy as the irrefutable evidence of His existence and the authenticity of His Word: "For I am God, and there is none else. ...Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, my counsel shall stand..." (Isa:46:9-10

There are two major topics of prophecy, both of which must be studied if one is to have any understanding of the Bible: 1) Israel; and 2) the Messiah, who would come to Israel and through her to the world. These two major topics involve specific fulfillments of prophecy that cannot be denied and which prove God's existence.

As I stated this is the reason facts do not matter as faith excuses all fats and reality. This is the same reason all cults exist. Faith can never be questioned no matter how easy it is to disprove in reality.

Facts do matter. Every day the news of the world verifies the facts laid out in the Bible. The verification of these facts is an affirmation of my faith being true. It is as simple as that. As the old saying goes, "God said it; I believe it; that settles it!" Since you don't seem to believe the Bible is the Word of God, why are you pushing the issue? You are not trying to debate, you are trying to force your opinion on everyone else and, believe me, there are too many on here who do not buy your way of thinking. Contrary to your remark, our faith can not be disproved to us. It is a shame that all the studying you profess to have done in the Bible didn't register with you.

1Corithians 1:18 For the preaching of the Cross is, to them that perish, foolishness; but to us which are saved it is the power of God.

1Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man recieves not the things which are of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness to him: niether can he know them for they are spiritually discerned

Corinthians are my favorite. Very real story while in the hosptial, saved my spirit one very bad night in the V.A.

Asking this question indicates to me that you may not be a believer in Jesus Christ. If you were, and knew your Bible, the thought would Even Satan believes in Jesus. I believe in the stop sign at the entrance to the HI way but if I do not obey it and stop, it may be disastrous. have never entered your mind.[

Now one has to ask if god is then why are the prophecies so extremely vague? Why not specific dates and names? Why does the bible not mention America the most powerful and influential nation in history?

Because they were written for a generation that has been gone for several thousand years, in a language that has been interpreted numerous times. Words have been inserted that may not have the same meaning today as they did when originally written and/or inserted to fit the agenda of the interpreter. America and the world we know today didn't exist at the time these prophecies where written and would mean nothing to the generation of the time. Knowing the past as we do gives the armchair quarterbacks of today the fuel they need to justify their prediction. Just my opinion. :pleasantry:

God's prophecies are not extremely vague. I've said it numerous times, ISRAEL IS GOD'S PROPHETIC TIMEPIECE, NOT AMERICA!! There are two major topics of prophecy, both of which must be studied if one is to have any understanding of the Bible: 1) Israel; and 2) the Messiah, who would come to Israel and through her to the world. These two major topics involve specific fulfillment's of prophecy that cannot be denied. Christ was anything but vague when He said that the re-birth of the nation of Israel would mark the beginning of the Last Generation, and the Bible's prophecies concerning the Jews, Jerusalem and Israel are specific. Whether atheist or believer, Hindu, Muslim or Jew, all mankind knows that the next world war, when it occurs, will break out over Jerusalem. The prophets also declared that in the last days Jerusalem would have a special importance for "all nations". Zachariah 12:2-3.."Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about....I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all (including America) that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces". In Jeremiah 30:14, God says to Israel “All your allies have forgotten you; they care nothing for you.” Its context shows that the verse applies to the time of Jacob’s trouble, aka 70th Week of Daniel (7 yrs of Tribulation).

America has been Israel’s ally since 1948, but as of last week America has stated that it will not stand by Israel in the future. This is consistent with this Administration's support of al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood overthrowing Middle East governments in the name of "democracy." A new red line HAS been crossed in US foreign policy. The US is supporting the radicalization of the very nations named in the Bible that will come against Jerusalem in the end times. If the American people allow this to continue, there is clear prophecy of the consequences: Zechariah 12:9, "And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem." God's foreign policy pertaining to Israel is specific.."I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you". Ezekiel 38 and 39, which describe the famous Magog (Russia) invasion of Israel, include an interesting statement. “I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in safety in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the Lord” (Eze 39:6). “Coastlands” in Hebrew refers to coastal areas, islands and continents, which could include America. Our location on a separate continent has enabled us to “live in safety” through many military conflicts. This verse suggests either a cosmic or nuclear devastation that includes Magog (Russia) and possibly America.

One clear principle in scripture is the spiritual Law of Accountability: to whom much is given, much is demanded (Lk 12:48). God has blessed America generously throughout our history but we are squandering his blessing on self-indulgence. As a nation, we have turned our back on him, made policies and laws that are clearly anti-God, and embraced political correctness allegedly to avoid offending those having other beliefs, even to the point of renaming national holidays having Christian origins. Unfortunately, the attitudes and lifestyles of many Christians in America are indistinguishable from those of non-Christians. Add to this the fact that America, as prophesied, has now turned it's back on Israel, in essence IMO signing it's own death certificate. Be it the Rapture, a complete economic collapse bringing us into union with the NWO, or a number of possible cataclysmic events, America becomes totally powerless and insignificant in the very near future, very possibly even non existent. There are only two things that last forever, America isn't one of them. Once again, prophecy must be studied if one is to have any understanding of the Bible.

If god is who he/ she is then why would he have a book wrote in a manner to be unfamiliar to those who would need to understand the most IE those in the future when he has already decided what will happen? Once again logic takes the back seat on the faith bus.

As I stated only names of places that existed in there understanding are in it. Leviticus 25:44-46 Exodus 21:7-11 slavery ok with god. Exodus 22:18-20 witches really? Timothy 2:11-14 women are not allowed to TEACH. Deuteronomy 22:22-24 if you sleep with a married women you both have to die! Deuteronomy 22:28-29 monetary value of virgin females. Corinthians 14:34-35 women are not allowed to speak and must do as COMMANDED. Eccles. 26:14-15 nothing better then SILENT SHAMEFUL faced women. This is the book you love? Does you wife speak in public? Do you charge the man to buy your virgin daughter? How many SLAVES do you own? Please tell me more about how great this god of your is who would allow such utter stupidity and evil to your fellow man. Do not forget the bible says WITCHES are REAL!! Did you read these parts, ignore them or just skip over em?

I've skimmed the thread, and want to toss out a couple of thoughts.

Re gay marriage: Jesus Christ did not go running to Caesar to ask him to help stop what He called sin. Neither should we as Christians run to the modern-day Caesar for help.

As far as understanding God, I ask you this: Do we really want to be able to understand the Creator of the Universe? Do we really want to be able to put Him in this tiny box of human comprehension? I don't. I can't handle the Truth. God is God, and I am not. And I'm fine with that.

maine04619: You want to cite scripture so I will give you two to chew on, Ps. 14:1, "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God...."; Prov. 10:8, "The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall." You are correct about witches. Read about King Saul and the Witch of Endor. You seem to like to quote the Old Testament but please don't forget about Jesus and His reason for coming. While you are doing your research for something to throw out in defense of your disbelief, try studying the scriptures. You might look at things in a different light. But if you don't want to study, you only have your soul to lose.

The Creator of the universe wants us to understand Him, that's why He sent His Only Begotten Son into this world and told us to "LISTEN TO HIM". Because I've made my choice to spend all eternity with God, yes, I want to understand everything He is willing to reveal about Himself to me.

There is the Old Testament and the New Testament. Read them both thoroughly, study them both thoroughly, then you won't have to keep asking such foolish questions.

i could care less what god folks worship or bible they read so long their beliefs don't cause them to infringe on the rights of others

sharing beliefs is one thing and ok by me but when folks try to tell me jesus is the only way to heaven and if i don't believe then i'm going to hell is where i draw my line

i've been to hell and back heheh as well the heavens ... i learned alot from the experiences and will continue visiting more hellish hells and higher heavens as time goes on i reckon
