The Monkey did not control the suborbital flight.

It is a good thing Ham flew first since the Redstone booster overshot it's mark by a large margin.

I am a veteran of 3 foreign wars (Bosnia/Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan) and am not a kid. Sure am proud to have had the chance to participate too! Spent many of sleepless nights bunkered down while being mortar'd mixed with 120mm rockets trying to sleep after working 14 hour days 6 days a week. I don't complain or protest, neither do my comrades...Sure is a lot of bitching coming from those who weren't there with us though :/
