How Can People Be This Stupid And Still Breathe ?

What an AWESOME line! And so true!

We went on the Laughlin run every year when we lived in So Cal. Laughlin was alright, but not being gamblers, we'd get set up in the hotel, get the show-scooters set up in the judging line, and then head across the river so we could ride with our hair in the non-existent breeze. I think we did Laughlin like 6 or 7 years in a row. Up until the last year we went ('91 I think), CA didn't have a helmet law, so it wasn't quite as urgent that we get across the river to have some true freedom, but we still hung out there a lot more than in Laughlin.

Blues, I live just 3 miles from Laughlin, if you ever get back this way again be sure to let me know and we can grab some "In & Out Burgers" for lunch!

NCIC, nice 50-52. Also have a 48 with car amongst others. You switched over to right throttle I see. My 48 and 28 101 are left, four is factory optioned right.

I've only ever had a couple of scary things happen on a scooter (I know - two kinds of bikers; those that have gone down, and those who are going to. So far, I remain in the latter group Link Removed). I was near downtown LA one day when the schools were getting out, and all the bus-stops were filled to the gills with teenagers. I was sitting at a red light waiting for it to change when a can of soda bounced off my gas tank. I looked over at the group of high school kids and they were all laughing. Didn't figure any of 'em were gonna give up the thrower and I wasn't gonna win if I tried to take 'em all on, so when the light changed, I eased on down the road. No words, no fingers, just a quick evaluation and accept having to touch up the paint when I get home and move on.
The other was just an accident. Coming around Memphis on the bypass, heading back home from Sturgis in '03 in a pack of 40 scooters, a flatbed lost one of those giant rolls of sheet-steel right in front of us. Three bikes hit it, and 5 other bikes hit each other trying to avoid it. All of them went down hard, but my wife on her bike and me on mine, got around the whole mess unscathed. No one died, but 4 riders were critically injured and spent weeks each in a Memphis hospital.
Other than that, I've had upwards of 300K pain-free and fear-free miles in the saddle. I always wonder what kind of magnetism it is that attracts trouble to people like described in the OP, because to hear them tell it, they never seem to have it comin'. Link Removed

You are very lucky to have never laid your bike down Blues...Ride safe and stay safe. :)

My father always said "There are only two kinds of people who ride those who have laid it down and those who haven't..... yet

What he said.

Yep, what I said too, but I guess I'm on Treo's ignore list just like he's on mine. LOL

Thanks for the well-wishes Outlaw. Keepin' the rubber side down for as long as I can over here, count on it!

I've been down only once. That was back in 1970 when I spun out turning in some loose gravel at low speed (wasn't hurt, bike got scratches only) . My wife learned to ride and got her license when she was 61 years young. She heard that story about the two kinds of bikers too, that's why she rides a "trike".

FWIWif I were on this punk's ignore list he wouldn't be able to quote my posts, just sayin'

My oh my. I can not only choose to view individual posts of anyone on my ignore list, but once opened, I can indeed reply with quote to them. I only saw your post because someone else quoted you, and then I made a freaking joke about you saying what I already said. I chose to view this reply to see if you'd recognize the joke and just be lighthearted about it, or if you'd confirm that I made the right choice to put you on ignore to begin with. Thanks for confirming that my decision was warranted. Back to ignore you go now.

My boss rides a monstrously pimped-out Gold Wing trike. I'm usually the one who opens the gate for him when he comes in in the morning, and whenever he rides, I always give him grief about riding with "training wheels." He's kind of fun to rib like that, because he gets as easily-bugged as Treo. LOL

I find it interesting that you choose to hide behind ignore and come out occasionally to snipe at me before ducking back behind your little shield. It gives me a good indication of your level of maturity.
I don’t have you on ignore but I do choose to ignore most of your posts because of it.
I’m tempted to ask you to be an adult and actually discuss your differences with me instead of sniping but you seem to gain too much enjoyment from (thinking you’re) getting me pissed

Oh, and I was thinking about your original question, and I found the answer:

A blonde walks into a hair salon wearing a set of headphones. She wants a haircut, but tells the hairdresser that he has to cut her hair while she is wearing the headphones. OK, there are a lot of strange people out there, so the hairdresser cuts her hair and the blonde leaves.

A month later the blonde returns, again wants a haircut and can't remove the headphones.

A month later it happens again. This time the blonde falls asleep while getting her haircut and the hairdresser decides to remove the blonde's headphones. Almost immediately the blonde starts gasping, turns blue and falls on the floor. The hairdresser calls 911, emergency crew arrives and rushes the blonde to the hospital.

The hairdresser realizes that he still has the headphones in his hand, so he puts them up to his ears and hears a tape repeating over and over again "Breath in - breath out. Breath in - breath out"

I thought it was funny that you repeated what I'd already said, and I laughed at the prospect of you having me on your ignore list. It says you aren't interested in what I have to say, which is fine, and which you confirm below. It says nothing to me about your "level of maturity." Sniping would be more in line with, oh, I don't know, calling someone who just made an innocuous joke a "punk." Maybe you just work from a different dictionary than I do.

Between the Waffle House Shooting thread, when I told you exactly why I was putting you on ignore, and this one, I haven't mentioned your name or "sniped" at you at all, and still haven't now even after being called a punk for making a tiny little joke. I'll admit it's tempting, but you make it too easy, and I like my snipes to require at least a modicum of thought.

I see. And that makes you so much more mature than me, huh? Pot, Kettle and all that happy crap.

I’m tempted to ask you to be an adult and actually discuss your differences with me instead of sniping but you seem to gain too much enjoyment from (thinking you’re) getting me pissed

First, I didn't say I thought you were "pissed," I said you were easily-bugged, and I think your spewage of "punk" over such nothingness as laughing at the prospect of me being on your ignore list proves that point beyond any semblance of a doubt.

Secondly, I tried to discuss like an adult what I found strange about the things you said in the Waffle House Shooting thread. You umm....sniped at me as you admitted that you would even break the law to avoid giving so much as a witness statement against the robbers, as you impugned anybody and everybody in a pejorative way who supported the shooter in that incident to include, but not limited to, the following:

I’m sorry but I find the level of testosterone fueled poutrage in this thread ridiculous.

...On the other hand some of you sound like you can’t wait to start the fight, that’s crazy to me....

...On just about any other gun forum this name calling would have already resulted in about half a dozen bans. That's one of the primary reasons I don't take this forum seriously>

That last one from the guy that called me a punk for making a self-deprecating joke about me having earned my way onto his ignore list. I fail to see how that joke is even at your expense in the least. And that jive about how immature it is of me to have you on ignore is just blithering blather in light of your admission above that you don't take anything on this forum seriously even if the people you ignore aren't on your list.

In the Waffle House thread, you actually not only impugned, criticized and further insulted everyone who stood up for the shooter at the beginning of the thread, but you went after the shooter himself right out of the gate when he showed up to try to set the record straight that the initial media reports got all kinds of wrong, but which you took as unquestionably credible.

Without even attempting to verify his claimed identity, which turned out to be exactly who he said he was BTW, your first reply to him went like this:

It's been my experience that those who brag about killing people, never have.

After he and others completely trounced you, you bailed with a parting shot to everyone who supported him even more after hearing his first-hand story than we did from gathering the facts from the media as they trickled in between inaccuracies and outright lies.

anyway i'm done w/ this one y'all have fun thumping your chests

So that's why I put you on ignore, and why I didn't have the desire or need to "discuss our differences" with someone who, even up to just a couple of days ago, couldn't bring himself to just comfort the guy and let him know that the gun community stood with him as he continues to deal with the aftermath of a shooting.

The ongoing drama confirms in my mind the concept that you don't involve your self unless you have absolutely no other option.

Having said that, given the facts as presented here it appears that the OP realy didn't have any other option.

My, how big of you to admit that he didn't have any choice after referring to his "drama" as confirming your concepts about getting involved, when we all know from your own words that you would've never gotten involved in that scenario, choosing instead to "slide out the back door" to avoid even giving a witness statement to the robbery!

And all this drama is because I deigned to laugh at myself for being ignored by you. Shame on me, huh? What a punk move, eh?

And still I haven't sniped at you or called you names, just choosing to explain and quote your own words to you instead. You're off ignore for the time being (though I seriously doubt that you care at all), so if you want to go all adult on us, now would be a good time to set a good example for immature me. My phone won't let me read the whole thread for some reason, but I wanted to comment on the title of the thread. J am convinced that people in general, are stupid, lol. Sometimes, I think I'm the only one that has any sense,.lol

I am girl who used to ride a sports bike for over ten years in NYC My experience while I rode was that either people do not have the knowledge of the harm they can cause a motorcycle rider or just damn stupid. I also had the feeling people have a misconception of riders. That we are all gang banging criminals. Because of that attitude I would not get much respect while riding. One of my experiences I was riding with 3 others and one jackass decided it was my day he gave me the finger and proceeded to come in to my lane at a high rate of speed and I had to break but even so he still hit me. All I can remember is the guy took off and I was bleeding out of everywhere. That experience lead me to believe people just don't care. And of course had I been carrying it would not have matter as I was on the floor injured and for all the as****e could of killed me.

Point is doesn't matter if you carry. The OP could of been seriously injured.

Link RemovedThey are the same type people who had this removed from Facebook because they didn't understand it.

Another situation resolved without the use of a firearm. The OP showed restraint, despite having his well being threatened by aggressive retards in a car. Both sides drove off uninjured, although I'd bet the OP had a big adrenaline dump at the time of the incident. Sometimes the best move is to take the abuse and stay holstered.

I have watched my friend on his bike, dent doors on cars. As they come into his lane he kicks the **** out of them, then dives into the other lane. Seen it a few times.
Yup, reminds me of the good old days.

Nobody effed with me the last 25 years of a 42 year motorcycling career (rode sportbikes for 25 years, until some medical issues ended motorcycle riding for me). I've had one major accident with a big Dodge 2500 who was in my lane, coming straight for a headon. I was on my FJR1300 solo thank God. Actually, I hit my guardrail to miss the truck and sustained several injuries.

I did have my wife on my FJR1300 when a cellphone toting bimbo bopped into my lane and forced me onto the wakeup strips. I stayed there while she tried to figure out the noise. She had her cellphone on her left ear, never saw me until the noise for a few seconds. Got the mouthed "I'm sorry". My wife was pissed that I kept pace with her on the strips, maybe a foot or so from her car with my right hardcase, but I've ridden long enough I felt safe. She got the message.

Again, I never got effed with on a half dozen or more sportbikes I rode since the original ZX900 Ninja I got in '85. My last one, at age 56, hence my r1derbike username. It was with great regret I had to sell it:

My hell-for-fast Sport Touring Bike (FJR1300). Didn't repair it after the solo crash with the guardrail. The driver of the truck never even stopped. I was blind for about 10 minutes as my head and shoulder hit the guardrail after a highside:
