Pentagon working with FAA to open U.S. airspace to combat drones

How else is Obama and his cronies going to keep track of us radical Bible/gun clingers. They are not able to get rid of conservative talk radio and Fox News. Us clingers are listening to these talk radio programs and Fox News and believing what they are saying. We must listen to Media Matters and main stream media for the real truth. How is this administration ever going to get their message out without question? Spying is their only hope to control us radicals.

They can follow me around all day/night if they want to because I have done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide. BUT, when they decide to send a Hellfire missile down on me because they "believe" that I "may be" a
homegrown terrorist, then I'm going to take it personal and they had better take me out the first time.

the answer is literally in the same article....

These aircraft would be used to help train and retrain the pilots who fly the drones remotely, but they also are likely to find new roles at home in emergencies, helping firefighters see hot spots during wildfires or possibly even dropping water to combat the blaze.

New FAA rules have been passed to ease up on the rules that currently restrict domestic drone use. The laws are being made to massively expand domestic drone use, and whenever the laws are unclear, the law enforcement forces will simply use them anyway (as evidenced by the earlier LA Times story):

if you distrust the government at every turn, go try china...

i'm in the military, national guard to be specific, and i can see the benefits of this. we do SAR missions after natural disasters and these could be used w/o putting human life in danger.

you (and others here) seem like the folks that would ***** at anything.

*gets bonus from work* "UGH...now I have to pay taxes on this....:pout:"

Perhaps I will not doubt so much if this happens during another POTUS' time, but not with the present one occupying the WH?

Who cares who's in the white house? The same thing would happen no matter who was in, b/c the money that has gone into these UAV programs will not be ditched b/c the wars are over. These pilots will have to continue to be trained and recertified, and another mission will be required of them stateside.

Just b/c some folks can't seem to get over partyline politics doesn't mean everything they do not come up with is bad. If this had ended under W or any other Republican president, it wouldn't be on this site. No one here would be bitching about it. Partyline BS from both sides is what's truly bringing down this country. Neither party is correct 100% of the time.

Why all this worry about drones? Does anyone here think that, if the government wants to, it would be impossible to launch a high flyer with the same look down capability as a drone? We already have military flights all over the US every day. Any one of them could be looking down and tracking whoever they want to track.

The fact that the FAA is expanding military fly over routs and is publicly announcing it doesn't worry me. It what the military is doing that we DON'T know about that worries the heck out of me.

Sure it has benefits but we both know that good intentions via the govt usually turns around and bites us in the ass. The power elite control our military so they will be using these to spy on Americans not just for the good reasons you mentioned. Yes I do distrust and despise the govt for their corruption and invasion of peoples rights and if we don't keep on our toes and on their ass we will end up like China. Some of the people on here may be too young and naive to realize what the hell is going on this country and the battle for their freedom is in jeopardy. Btw, thanks for your service to this country.

I doubt our own Military would turn against us but I could be wrong!

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't recruits in the military take an oath to protect this country against threats foreign and domestic? I know my daughter did when she was commissioned in the Air Force.

Thanks. The recent changes that I have seen have been caused by the threat of terrorism and the governments overreaction and overreach on what they should be able to do. A lot of the stuff I do not like stem from the Patriot Act. It was a bad idea and does set the standard got the goverment to continue to take.

We do, but from my thoughts, that oath for domestic is about dealing w/ the Timothy McVeys (sp), the Ft Hood shooter, the DC shooters, etc...not the general populous. They also tell you that you have the right and the duty to question and disobey unethical/unlawful orders.

EDIT: and also against folks like in this article today... http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/envoy/fbi-arrests-man-suspected-plotting-attack-capitol-191246958.html
