Why Do You Carry Concealed?

Because I had a gun pulled on me, put to my temple, and was able to walk away...once. That was enough for me.

Something to think about, and I am really being serious with this question. Was the incident that you elude to one in which you carrying a concealed firearm would have changed?

For example, you're walking through the park and criminal comes out from behind a bush, sneaks up behind you, puts a gun to your head and wants you wallet. 1. Is a concealed gun going to change that? 2. Do we draw our gun and hope we can surprise the criminal enough to shoot him before he shoots us? 3. Do we give him our wallet and shoot him as he flees? 4. Do we reach for our wallet and throw it or drop it and hope to shoot the criminal if he attempts to retrieve it?

I was in Memphis as a young sailor and couldn't have legally been carrying then. His SNS misfired and I ran. I am much more wise now at age 56. Today I am in constant assessment mode..not paranoid, just alert.

I carry open at home on my property and concealed whenever I travel. I live in a rural area and law enforcement could be 45 minutes away to respond to a 911 call. I had someone try to break in my door and they smashed a window on my wife's van. It was just after I had left for work my wife who was at home with my kids, called me to ask why I had returned home, which I hadn't. I was only 5 min away and called 911 and by the time I got there the perp. had already left. Too close. Now my wife carries too. This was prior to concealed, but would have been nice to have been able to carry. Could have been a lifesaver to me and my family. My wife did grab her 9mm.

I had almost exactly the same situation happen to me in Oklahoma City. Left for work and five minutes later he/they kicked the front door in of my house. My three dogs chased them out.

I own three rental properties and only except cash payments for rent since I have recieved bad checks in the past. All my tenants know I carry a gun and have a concealed weapons license here in Georgia. This I think prevents any one from trying to set me up for a robbery. Also I had a guy try to rob me at a gas station about 2 years ago. He came up to my open window and asked me if I had a light. I told him I didn't smoke and he said " Well what do you got". I pulled my Springfield XD 40 cal. and told him I had this with a few choice words added. The guy took off running.

To protect my family while avoiding alarming the uneducated.
Aside from that, i too had a weapon pulled on me. The trigger was pulled but thankfully i only heard a click. The action was then worked and the trigger was pulled again on a chamber i assume was supposed to have a round in it.

I carry concealed as part of my preparation to better protect myself and/or my loved ones while staying under the radar of the herd around me.

I carry for my FAMILY First! MY DUTY SECOND. I am not leo but work in an area where I have contact with perps , mopes and so on. And because of this ,I have at time's had some run ins with guys. Not all have been bad but acouple have had me worry about my familys safty.
That is why I carry

I carry concealed for the same reasons many have expressed, to be prepared. I have a fire extinguisher in my home just in case, I carry a gun, just in case. The boy scout motto, be prepared and since the law allows me to carry concealed, I do. If I didn't and something happened to my family and I could have been prepared and wasn't, I couldn't live with my self. Also, a cop is just too heavy and besides, I don't own one. Wouldn't want to own a cop, I mean, what do you feed them? Most cops I know aren't house broken and they gripe when you try to stick 'em in a holster

Actually, my cop eats pretty much what I do, though he can be a bit picky at times. But it definitely would be inconvenient to drag him around everywhere I go (expensive upkeep too!), and even if it weren't he has a strong tendency to go off on his own much too often to be of much use to me as far as daily protection is concerned... :)

Prior to CCW, I got butt whipped during a robbery. It took a while to heal but I survived. From that day forward I swore to myself I would never be a victim again. In came the guns, training and a very strong desire to peacefully die an old man in my sleep.

During my trek to get where I am today I took on the responsibility of marriage and a child. What kind of man would I be if I didn't do everything possible to protect them? And of course the circle grew to include my dearest friends and their families. I'm saying I one of the sheep dog types but I do look out for me and mine because I know I can.

Plus, like the signature says, I too old to run and too young to die! Thanks for asking, Luke.

I'm not sure the meaning of your question. Why do I carry, or why do I carry concealed as compared to open carry. Obviously I carry for the protection of myself and my loved ones. Protection of others as well. The reason I carry Concealed is because if you just happen to get into a situation, you don't want to open carrying, because the bad guy see's you carrying, your the first to go. You lose the element of surprise. You can read many insidences where a Police officer or a armed guard is shot in an incedent. They open carry and the bad guy know's it. Their the first to go. Keep it concealed. Jerbear.
