Thankfully, the opposite of gun control has been happening in state after state, thanks to the efforts of many, which affirms my belief in the democratic process. It's when the process is subverted that gives cause for concern, as when martial law is declared, your own your way to your bug out location, and come up on a check point. Confiscation and abuse of power could cause you to lose your weapons, and even while I'm writing this, realize I need at least two caches of weapons and ammo, in addition to food and supplies. Then realizing I don't have the $$. WRT, a second American Revolution, ehh, for that to happen, the will of the states will have had to have been subverted. It could happen, but when all fifty states secede, whatcha gonna do? DC is a small piece of dirt when you come right down to it. If martial law comes, as in widespread civil unrest, I'm going to play it as cool as I can. No shots are going to be fired at uniformed troops, unless they're under a foreign flag, as in UN. As long as troops disobey orders to unlawfully detain US citizens, it shouldn't be a problem. The possiblity of widespread social collapse is remote, food riots and the like could happen, but just like the riots in UK, they won't accomplish anything except localized destruction. I plan to shelter in, unless things get really nasty, then bug out to my hunting AO with food, water, shelter. Getting there safely is a concern, which is why our group will caravan in several vehicles and attempt to avoid any checkpoints. It's thirty miles, so on foot isn't out of the question. If you don't have a bug out location, I recommend considdering putting up plywood over downstairs windows, and be ready to take out any zombies who attempt entry.
