So I'm curious, what's the most popular concealed carry handgun amongst members here on USA Carry. I'm starting this poll off with guns I personally carry. Just post the gun(s) you carry and I'll add them to the list for you to vote for. Let's see what we can get going!
Boy, this is a tough one for me. Here are my choices in no particular order:
Glock 36 (I like it being about the smallest I can legally transport across border to Canada and Carry stateside)
Glock 30
Glock 30SF
Glock 32 (I like the .357Sig for its ability to smack thru glass and sheet metal, use Gold Dots to prevent overpenetration)
Kimber PRO series (have several)
Sig C3 officer size 1911 modified for 105mm barrel for Canada legal
Sig Compact Carry 1911 (Canada legal)
HK USP Compact
Walther P99 (like the grip safety)
Glock 26 9mm (I tend to try and carry larger calibers as I am limited to ten round magazines anyway to be Canada legal)
I have several other semi-compact and full size handguns/revolvers but find they are too cumbersome for me to carry in warm weather. If I could carry during COOL weather with a jacket or in formal circumstances with a sport jacket I would probably carry full size in a shoulder rig (a QUALITY shoulder rig).
Let me be very clear about one thing: I am both Canadian AND American citizen. When ANYONE comes to Canada you need to know that there is NO CONCEALED CARRY despite any US permits (and I have several). If you wish to bring handguns or other restricted weapons (short barrel rifles, AR's, etc.) you need to register them IN ADVANCE and pay a short term, renewable registration/permit fee and send in the form which is available on the Canada Firearms Centre website. Or you can just get your Canadian RPAL and register your guns same as everyone else. TWO choices. No need to leave guns at home except that they must be CANADA LEGAL (generally, barrel over 105mm, magazines under 10 rounds on pistols, etc. See the CFC website for full details).
I tend to lean towards my Glocks these days as they are ultra reliable and sufficiently accurate. I used to be bothered by the fact that they had neither thumb safety nor grip safety. I have changed my feeling through the use of top quality holsters that protect the trigger and practise TWO HANDED reholstering always as that is when most ND's take place with Glocks... piece of shirt gets stuck in the trigger area, bang. I carried for almost two years without one in the chamber and then tried carrying around the house cocked and empty.... never a problem with a top quality holster, so I carry 'hot' now and it can make the difference between life and death. Take it from one who HAS BEEN in that position at least once.
I have to add one of my favorites! The HK P7M8 9mm. I would not use it for my EDC but it is a great gun. It is a squeeze cocker and an incredibly safe gun to carry in a pocket (I have deep pockets that are reinforced for casual EDC on my shorts). It carries 8 in the magazine and one in the chamber and I have no problem carrying hot in my pocket with no holster. SUPER safe and super accurate and reliable.
