What would YOU do?

Here's a problem I bet you've never considered. Here it is. I am confined to a wheelchair due to a spinal cord injury 35 yrs. ago. I use a manual sport chair...(very expensive and paid for it myself) There is a woman Quadriplegic(govt.paid everything) that has taken a disliking to me for some reason? I really don't know why. Anyway this past Sat. she tried to run me down with her power wheelchair outside the grocery store in my neighborhood, fortunately I was able to quickly turn myself sideways so as Not to take a direct hit in the side, she then proceeded to run at me again at top speed with her chair...I was again able(this time) to out run her. I called the police to make a report and as you can imagine it turned out to be a joke to the cops, and nothing was done except taking a report (that I don't think was taken seriously) There IS surveillance camera's at the store, the police didn't bother to check out, that would have shown her trying to run me down and they did not charge her with anything...just talked to her. I'm betting this ain't over. I'm NOT going to pull my gun on her, but I am open to suggestions as to what I can do. I know If it happens again that I will have PC to file a protective order,but I think she thinks she can get away with sort of crap because she's the poor crippled person everyone will feel sorry for......
 
Assault Charges, maybe? Or if that don't work, and the cops still think it's funny. Quietly, take it to the national media! but make sure you have proof of some kind. Reporting it was a good start, theirs a paper trail to follow. Not sure about filing for an ofp though, cause that might allow the judge to seal the evidence from the media. and the peoples opinion is more powerful than you know. Good Luck!
 
Go to home depot and get some roofing nails. Try talking to her calmly first. If she proceeds to get violent and try to take you out. Out run her while dropping the roofing nails on the ground give her a flat tire or 2. I bet she wouldn't mess with you anymore. Good luck.
 
is your chair a "Quickie"? .. sorry for the pun .. i have a Quickie chair .. and have had the same thing happen to me in college .. i guy with an electric would ram me from behind .. he was just trying to be funny more than anything .. i locked him in the handy stall at school and left a note on the door not to let him out .. that settled him down after missing a couple of classes .. LoL

now to your problem .. can you get her taped doing the assault on a cell phone? .. if your like me you do most everything by yourself .. but if you have a friend with you have them tape it .. if it was a guy you could just smack his butt down .. but a women butt is a problem .. you need witness's for sure .. i wonder if you could talk with the store mgr about getting a copy of the tape .. maybe explain the situation to them .. check with employe's who may have witnessed the incident or if future incidents occur .. if this occurs again, call 911 again and maybe the repeat calls will get some action ..

Call your congressman and ask him to file a bill to outlaw electric wheel chairs. Because electric wheel chairs can kill people. It's not the person driving, it's the chair man.
 
I would try to find out what her problem is. If that doesn't work, I like the pepper spray idea. While I like the nail suggestion, I wouldn't do it. Someone else could step on one. :sarcastic:
 
i would write a letter to her and tell her that you don't know why she is dislikeing you that you don't dislike her, also ask her to lunch or icecearm, tell her that you want to be her friend and have someone to give it to her in the neighborhood, or someone that works in the store give it to her, this usely always work, face to face chat is what makes good friends
 
Call the store and explain the situation to the manager and have them review the tape.. they may ban her... or make some attempt to rectify the situation... if you make them aware and something does happen they are open to lawsuits...and also call the chief of police and set up a meeting with him, make him aware of the situation and how his officers handled this.. I am sure the last thing he wants is the negative publicity for his department...
 
maybe that's her way of saying she's interested in you? maybe she likes it rough? only half joking.

I am indeed like you, in that I am totally independent. I have a "Quickie" and now an A-4 too. It really burns my backside that the police are dismissing it like this. I just had to roll back and get in the street to avoid yet another confrontation, had my buddy with me so all she did was cuss the hell out of me, And so now I had to go to the property manager and file a complaint with her at my apartment complex. This Sux.

My tires are pneumatic hers are flat free foam inserts...Sooo along those lines I COULD over power her control hand and rip the wire from it...hence she'd be done chasing for a while....if she didn't run me over first that is..:yes4:
 
maybe she has a crush on you and in her own demented way does that to seek your attention as kids do by playing tag games? what did she say to you as to why she did it?? what did you say to her?

This isn't a joke...I never saw her before...believe me she isn't enamored with me...she has the filthiest mouth I ever heard too. In the first place I have never said a word to her?
 
she sounds bitter and mentally challenged as well as physically challenged hope you don't run into her again or wait hope she don't run into YOU again!

The high capacity assault chairs are the worst, though the cheap Saturday Night Chairs can be a real concern too.
