Walgreen's Discriminates Against Gun Owners

Picked up my photos and spoke with both the store manager and asst. manager at the Walgreen's near my home. Photos turned out great. The manager and asst. manager concur that it's not corporate policy that prohibits printing firearms photos. They print pretty much everything, however if it contains illegal activity (kiddie porn, animal cruelty, etc.) the customer doesn't get their photos, and they're turned over to the appropriate LE agency. The asst. mgr transferred here from NJ and said that his previous store mgr was pretty anti-gun. He said he wouldn't be surprised if the guy made up some silly store policy that they cannot print gun photos. The asst. mgr I'm familiar with says he's not "anti", though he's not exactly "pro" gun either. I'd say he falls into the "undecided" category. I kind of pressed him and said asked if he would consider himself more "pro" or "anti". He said he's all for "legal firearms ownership", though is kind of afraid of guns since being a victim of a store robber while he worked in a store in PRCA.

The manager and asst. mgr suggested that we contact Walgreen's corporate through the 800# on the website, email or snail mail the corporate address if we ever feel that store employees are mistreating us. They've both seen senior managment transfer store managers who frequently make up "silly" store policies which go contrary to corporate policy. They also told me that as far as they know, there's no corporate policy that prohibits customers from CC or OC in the store, as long as it's in accordance with the local laws where the store is located. (The store manager transferred here from Colorado)

Walgreens policy

I e-mailed Walgreens corporate office about a thread on a gun forum where a member sent in pictures of guns for insurance purposes to have printed and the manager refused stating in was corporate policy.

I just received an phone call from Walgreens corporate office. They said it is not policy. If you are legal to carry in your state you are welcome to do so at Walgreens. He also stated that they supported the 2nd amendment.

This thread is retarded.

Why does someone generalize an entire chain off of one person??

I just went into a Walgreens today. I took a broken heater back I bought nearly 2 years ago (still had receipt in hand) and asked to have it replaced. He first asked if I wanted the higher model (smart sales move) but I said I just need the small one.
He handed me the new one and took the old one without asking any questions or looking at my receipt even!
Unless they post GB signs I will continue to go there.

Why you ask? Some folks have hair triggers, and react zealously at the thought of their 2nd amendent rights being violated. I personally have no issue with Walgreens. Any problems I had were taken care of by the management. It is very possible that the OP made up the story for his own personal reasons and watched the reactions of everyone. It is also possible the OP's story is true, and the one hour photo professional took it upon himself to disarm the photo's. Either way, I agree this post has out lived it's usefulness. The fact is many of our friends and neighbor's dislike firearms. Shouldn't we try to inform, and educate, instead of inflame?

Real quick n dirty call corporate and file a complaint against them. There is nothing offensive about gun photos, but there there sure the HELL is about the new US postal stamp commemorating Muslims!!!! N they sell those!!!:hang3:

I just love when people register with a forum and then bitch about it's contents.

This thread is barely 3 days old, and just yesterday confirmed that Walgreens actually supports 2A. The thread did exactly what it was supposed to do. Someone read a story about someone else's experience, relayed it here, and in the end, we have found that it is not a corporate wide policy. There will always be a few who generalize, but most have cautioned not to jump to conclusions and some have even inquired at their local Wallgreens. Now we know it's an isolated store manager. Good job to those who sought out the answers.

If anyone read the thread through completely they'd know that the Original Poster of this thread on this forum . . . uhhh, that would be me . . . imported the original post from another forum. What I was doing was to make everyone here aware of a potential problem...which problem, by the way has been shown to be a very localized one...see below:

Utimmer, I agree. Unlike Homeland Security protection for airliners, this system works!

Thanks to all those who participated in the discovery process.

and yet another +1 all too often over the years I have ran into Managers of stores both large n small that tend to over-think their job position and make policy that is in line with their emotions and not corporate policy, and when taken to task on this they cave in like a cardboard box in the rain.....

So to quote Tim Allen in the movie "Galaxy Quest"... "Never Give Up, Never Surrender" ...... these guys are only tin plated demeigods treat them a such....

You just did the same thing the OP did!
You generalized my specific post about a specific topic and GENERALIZED it to mean I mean the WHOLE forum's contents!
How unfair is that?

If you can't see the forrest for the trees, move to the city!

If that is what you took from my comment, you are missing the point. The point I'm trying to make is if you think a thread is "retarded" or has lived out it's usefulness, why bother making the post? Rather than bitching about what you believe to be a stupid topic, just disagree and then make your case, or hit the back button and read a different one. Granted, you relayed your positive experience, as have a couple others before you. But criticizing the existence or length of the thread (which, BTW you still decided to contribute to) just really seems unnecessary.

Well there you go, it looks like we disagree on what is necessary.
Different strokes for different folks... some like to merely disagree with what is asinine, others might like to treat it for what it is.

Thanks for the info... I have carried into Walgreens many times unbeknownst to the management and staff...lol. I will avoid shopping there from now on.

If you JUST boycott, they will never know. A few people will not make a difference to them UNLESS you inform them of this. Write to Walgreen and let them know. As it turns out, this is a localized problem. Enough flack from it, WalGreen will do something about this manager. Remember "the squeaky wheel gets the grease"

I have printed pictures with myself and guns at my local Walgreens. There was one with two of my friends and I, all of us holding our ARs. Then another one of me shooting the Barrett. They seem to have no issues with it at all. My only problem with them was once having to sign a photo release stating I had rights to print a picture I took of a flower...when I asked why they said they only do that for professional pictures so I was flattered and had no problem signing! :)

I too packed at Walgreens ... even our local Wally World here. They needn't know...they have no signs on their doors either so who is going to stop me. If I can't carry in an establishment, I don't go there. I go someplace else where my money and me are accepted. I MAKE DECISIONS WITH MY WALLET on where and when I go shopping.:girl_wink:

thanks for the heads up Ektarr, the manager you spoke to is prolly clueless that the store he is managing is doing more damage to your community than any honest or dishonest gun owning citizen.

a warning to you all of my impending tangent....

I am all for avoiding wallgreens all together and have been for years. Ektarr, aside from your experience there, they are one of the largest drug dealers in America no better than any mexican or columbian drug cartel IMO. they are the open doors to the public that assist the FDA and medicare in the disintegration of american citizens by offering what ever poison your looking for. Can any of you out there even watch a commercial break on TV without seeing a drug advertisement? I challenge you to try and go a day with out hearing the phrase "ask your doctor about (drug of choice)"....in my area wallgreens is more prominent and easier to find than starbucks coffee co.

whatever happened to finding the cure for disease? I guess its true that it's more profitable to just treat the symptom, one drug prescription at a time.
I am amazed that our society accepts this crap. Are we Americans really being told that drugs are good and guns are bad?

In your next argument with an anti gun nut, just ask them if they shop at wallgreens. when they say "yes" ask them if they realize that fatalities from over the counter and prescription drug overdoses far exceed that of ANY accidental or intentional shooting fatalities (including murder by use of a hand gun) in the USA. then ask them why they give their money to support a company that enables this to happen......anyway you get my point.

I hate wallgreens Ektarr LOL as you can tell just reading your post about them has triggered a bit of humorous unorganized anger. apologies for the rant, but you were warned LOL.

if we could only be hearing commercials that said "Ask your gunsmith about....." God bless us all

just as I read this.. there is a commercial on tv about some stupid drug just as you wrote.. ask your doctor about bla bla bla.. side effects may include anything and everything. taking this pill could make your life worse because the side effects could be worse than the symptoms this drug was designed to treat... now that is sad..
