The Best all round handgun

I wounder if Luke would set this thread up like the most popular carry gun and the most popular carry caliber, both of which I dont agree with, but thats only my opinion, ........So Luke what about it redo this so we can all see in a chart like the others

Not everyone can conceal a cannon,so best all round weapon is the one you have on you versus the cannon back in the safe or at home.
Hot summer time,shorts ,t shirt , I carry 22 lr,or 32acp,cooler weather longer clothes Pa63 in 9x18 mak.
But very comfy with the wee 22 lr,or 32 acp anytime. Its a crime stopper not a man stopper unless they just dont like getting shot again.
Wacko on pcp no, but doubt if a 9mm would either before they got to you.Its what you and you alone are comfortable with.
You cant as a 300 lb person recommend 45 and 40 s w to those of less weight and or height or even a different gender.
Who may also live where clothes of the day are less like as in sandals and shorts with see thru shirts to stay cool.
There is no perfect gun, unless its yours.

This is a very tough one... The best all around handgun, for everything you can think of... plus Zombies?!

9mm is great, but I don't need 9mm for Zombies... a .22lr would handle them but it isn't ideal for CCW. I don't like Glocks but they are reliable, abundant and accept 33rd mags(17 & 19 anyway). I like the M9 and own two, it's 9mm... reliable but I don't think there are any 30+ mags around here. The 1911 is great but not for CCW or zombies, .45acp is bulky and over-powered for the living dead task. The FN Five-Seven is great! High cap mags, low recoil, great penetration... too much for the undead and it'll poke holes right through a BG in a CCW role, not good. I like .32acp, it's enough for popping zombie skulls but at the bottom of the CCW game...

Okay, based off what I've said and what I have... I go with the Beretta 92FS(M9).

What do you think is the best all round handgun? If you could only have one.
Do not say 1911, be specific with make model and cal.

Not only for concealed carry for personal defense.
But it must also be able to hold off a pack of zombies.
Smooth and flawless.

like this to start off:

Heckler & Koch HK45 .45auto
Springfield XDm 5.23 comp .45auto
Freedom arms MODEL 97 .45 Colt
Remington 1911r1 Enhanced .45auto

What do you all think?

I think that you kind of disqualified yourself from your own question....
Your original question was;
"What do you think is the best all around handgun" (singular) not handgun's (plural). :pleasantry:

With that said, I will choose my personal best 'all around handgun'.

For me it will have to be a Glock (of course). :yes4:

The next question is what caliber?
Which model?

I'll probably have to choose my very concealable, very powerful and very accurate "pocket pitbull"
-aka- my Gen3 Glock 27 .40 S&W :triniti:

Let the debates continue!! :butcher:

Oops....I already answered this post earlier....Never mind.

You can never say Glock too many times

I believe there is no "best all around handgun" there are most favorite guns according to peoples likes and needs. But if there was a best all around handgun it would be the one that goes bang every time you pull the trigger and that you shoot well.

:triniti:

My best

The question was "What do you think is the best all around handgun? If you could only have one. I'd keep the Kimber Compact Stainless II .45

If you want to go 90,000 rounds without a cleaning and only have 2 malfunctions then a HK45 is your gun.

If you prefer malfunctions than you have a larger selection.

I'll stick with my S&W M&P .40 cal! It's been a fantastic gun so far and has proven to be reliable and accurate.
Hands down winner, for me that is.

I think I have found the sweet spot for a 'fits most situations' handgun, or one size fits most. SA XD40 sub compact. Large caliber to deliver significant energy into the bg, plus magazine capacity. I carry with short mag which gives me 9 +1, and carry a extended mag with 12. With 3" barrel and short grip easily concealable, but as accurate as my XD40 service. I do have a Pierce grip extension on the short mag which helps with the grip but adds little to the size.

Of course any handgun is better than no handgun when you need one, unless it is not carried safely or the gun has serious safety issues to begin with, such as the ability to discharge by thumbing the hammer. If it's not in a holster that protects the trigger, then leave it at home.

I am constantly amazed when I hear of ND's because the hammer snagged on a pocket, or they dropped the gun, or shot themself in the thigh with a pocket carry. Why in hell are they carrying it in the first place, or carrying unsafely.

I know this has probably been said here already but the best all around handgun is the one in your hand when you need it.....as long as it works...... on the rest, any particuler brand or model, comfort, acuracy, price, build quality, fit and finish, are all nice but are not going to do you a dam bit of good if a BG jumps you in a C-store or Wally World parking lot.......bottom line on this whatever you decide to carry be sure it runs flawlessly, and you can shoot it well when in a high stress situation........to me that would be the best all around handgun.....

Have to go with the Ruger SR9 9mm...has 10 and 17 round mags, is accurate, dependable, and can be carried IWB or OWB, also fine for home defense and range. Just a very good gun!
