XD40scinNC The guy in that video obviously did not have good enough training. First he had to rack the slide, then he didn't realize that he needs to shoot until the threat is ended. He seemed like he was more afraid of the gun than the bad guys. He maybe should have had a revolver so he could just grab it and start shooting. But he needed better training, you have to be decisive once you decide to use a gun. Those bad guys could see he didn't know what he was doing so they charged him and took his life. He most likely would have been better off letting them rob him and not touching the gun. Big lesson to be learned there.

When someone starts shooting at you, or even sticks a gun in your face, all bets are off, and any additional task other than aiming and pulling the trigger can fail, especially when intense fear and adrenalin take control of your mind and muscles. As a 30 year firefighter I have seen and experienced these effects first hand (in fires, not gun fights). Yes training does help tremendously, but it only allows a person to partially compensate and control, the rest is philology beyond anyone total control.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda are all opinion, but clearly in the heat of the moment, not having a round in the chamber combined with the inability to rack the slide in the moment proved fatal.
Perhaps he should not have attempted to draw, but he did, a round was not chambered, and he's dead.
