A churchgoer near Spartanburg, SC is being credited with saving the lives of fellow worshipers after a man kicked in the door of their church and leveled a shotgun.

This is of great interest to me. In Missouri, a pastor must grant permission even for a permit holder to carry concealed. I willingly do so.

It is time people wake up, even churches aren't immune to this type of violent behavior. The more we can do to educate law-abiding citizens that these dangers really do exist, the safer our churches will be.

In truth, Bozz, in keeping with state law, only those who have sought permission gain it, as well as a two who are LEOs in the congregation who I volunteered permission to. I cannot give "carte blanche" approval, so those who haven't asked for permission don't have it officially.

so, odd enough. I have trained several Security details for the Churches in my area...they have had a rash of threats...You would be surprised to see the number of people comming to class. Pastors, ministers, preast, etc...

this is not the same world or country we lived in 50 yrs ago. Where a chruch or a place of worship was a holy place. We live in a world where in the near future, our religion will put us to the test.


Not trying to be a softy here, but...it is not a safe world anymore.

Shootings in churches, beauty salons, pharmacies, shoping centers, police stations, courts, post offices, home invasions, car jackings, assults while jogging, schools, hospitals, etc... I'm not trying to be the doom and gloom here. I still have lots of hope four our country and our world to change and come around. But if it does not, that is why became an instructor, to help people to learn to protect there own property and life.

In my ccw class my instructor started off with a question"who knows when they will need to use they weapon?" He then offered to pay for the lottery ticket if anyone knew that answer. The point made was we dont know so carry everywere legal all the time and practice more. I follow that advise everyday even at church.

I live 5 minutes from this church and was on the way to church myself right after this happened. My wife and I saw the local news van in the parking lot on our way home. A few months ago a permit holder shot and killed a robber in a Waffle House about 5 minutes in the other direction from my home. A while before that someone was posing as a LEO and pulled over a lady and raped her and left her for dead. I don't know whats wrong with people.... My wife will be taking the CWP course soon. and I need a shotgun for home.....

We have done several details at churches. Mainly special events. They usually had a team already that needed help. As far as carrying at church I do. Of you don't want to, don't. I've got an obligation to my wife and kids and I intend on fulfilling that.
