no guns allowed response

I went into my local bank the other day to cash a check. After that transaction was done I decided to ask the tellers a question. "Why do you guys have a 'no guns allowed' sign on the front door"

Their response made me laugh - "so no one will try to rob us". And they were completely serious.

I politely said "so someone wants to rob you but then sees that little sign and thinks 'crap now I'm going to have to rob some other place that doesn't have that sign' "- they didn't know what to say after that.

I find it amazing that some people really think that the sign is going to stop criminals from breaking another law.

I refuse to shop at any store that has one of those signs.... Why should I support someone that doesn't support the 2nd amendment? If they want to keep armed law abiding citizens away from their stores so criminals are free to come in and know that the customers of the establishment are unarmed then great! Good for them to give their employees and customers such an unsafe environment to shop... They also don't realize that you can still legally carry if they have one of those signs up. Just if you get catch they can ask you to leave and if you don't your then trespassing....

Hold your horses, you can't make that blanket statement. The legal weight of signs posted varies WIDELY state to state. Some serve a your legal trespass warning, some don't.

Also, I'd find a different bank.

My bank also has such a sign in the window. I asked the branch manager about it and he replied that he thought the sign was not a good idea but that he was only an employee of the holding company. He told me to carry concealed all I wanted in his branch. Now, we both know that carries no weight and if I was "caught", I could be asked to leave or escorted off the property. My response, I will carry everywhere I go, all the time. If your establishment does not want me, fine, I will go somewhere else. Their loss, not mine.

I work at a casino. They just put up those 'no guns allowed' signs on all doors, including the employee entrance. Now, working in the department I do, I get threats of harm, and people meeting me out in the parking lot when I'm done with work. I am a 5'0" woman, who could get blown down by a stiff wind. I was looking forward to being able to carry protection... now, with those signs, I'm trying to figure out how I can still protect myself, without losing my job.

What casino do you work in?

I live in Vegas and play poker daily in a lot of casinos. Actions/threats like you describe just don't happen here.

I used to think that about Indiana, then I looked up the law again. In Indiana, if the sign is posted and you ignore it and enter anyway, you've already committed trespass. No need to wait until they tell you to leave and ignore them for that to be true.

I work in a casino in Northern Wisconsin. Most of the threats I receive stem from the people that are drunk and playing Blackjack (I'm going to refrain from mentioning any kind of racial influence here, simply because my job sometimes depends on being completely neutral). When I deal poker, it's never been an issue, but Blackjack has been a whole different ballgame.

Now, I don't think that someone that is drunk could really do a lot, but when someone is drinking that liquid courage, they're likely to try.

I don't pay attention to signs,if a employee spotted me carrying and asks me to leave ill leave. Otherwise go on about your day.

These signs are posted and the statement is supported...until they are looking down the barrel of a BG's gun. That is when they start looking for and appreciating the armed, law abiding citizens.

In SC there is very specific wording regarding signs that I have found is ignored in most instances, making such warnings unenforceable and thus ignorable to my thinking.

Can you please post a link to the law your referring to? Anything I look up shows that IN signs do NOT have force of law.

This is the typical Liberal Mindset, I call it 'LibTardism'.
LibTardism is what is slowly but surely destroying us as a nation.
Liberalism is indeed a serious mental disorder.

Here's proof;

IMO we have a right to carry but if a business does not want me in there place armed I do not have a problem with it.I can either shop there or leave and I feel If they own it they can make the rules it is there right and I would not boycott a place because of it.

On my premises I would have told you:

"If someone wants to rob us we have a responsive plan in place. What we don't want is some Wyatt Earp like you trying to play security guard for us. Would you like an application?"

they can make the rules it is there right and I would not boycott a place because of it.

So you would gladly patronize a business and hand over your hard earned money to a business that strips you of your rights? WOW! Would you donate money to the Brady Campaign? After all it's THEIR right to believe were all criminals and a danger to society. I honestly don't see the difference! It's your right to feed the sheep, but I'm gonna stand up for whats right. The Wachovia (now Wells Fargo) in my neighborhood, took DOWN the gunbuster sign after MANY of us complained. Both Banks are known ANTI's...but the sign came down! The No Guns = No $$$ cards, complaints and refusal to patronize can and does make a difference, It may not always but just saying, ok I'll leave the gun in the car will NEVER be an option for me unless it REALLY is a gun free zone.
