Dan,
I have a Hi-Point 45. My experience and my gunsmith even talk when at range. Gun is accurate, dependable and rugged. A little ugly but if it shoots when you need it to and you will use it, then it will defend you and your family. I cannot afford the top line guns but the ones I have, I can depend on and that is what I need in a gun that will protect me and my family. Good luck and have fun with the gun.

Hi Dan,
My first handgun was a Hi-Point .380. Like you it was what I could afford. It did its job though. Always fired and was always pretty much on target. Most misses were operator error. The only issue I ever had with it was that it did not like some steel casings that I tried to put through it. Other than that I loved it. I sold it to a friend a few years ago and it is still going strong. You definitely get your money's worth with them.

shotz90s - Thank you for your comments on the Hi-point they get a bad rap on most sites, yes it might be ugly but IMO no uglier than a Glock most of the new composite guns would not win a beauty contest. One thing for sure you could be just as dead from a good shooting cheap ugly gun as you could from a good shooting High priced ugly gun.

Hello from South Louisiana (Cajun Country). Wanted to introduce myself, new to the forum. Not new to guns, shooting for over 30 years. Was a LA Volunteer W&F Hunter Safety Instructor and Coach for youth shooting team for about 6 years. Had some serious health problems had to stop for a while. Used to carry, and let everything expire, will be retaking the CCW class in the next month or so. Trying to get restarted and this forum look interesting to get back updated on the latest.

Hello ya'll! I'm a newbie from Oklahoma. @wingman883, Hey there, my mama is from SC and I'm and Okie so I ONLY speak Southern! lol I've read some good posts on the forum and am glad to be on here with 'likeminded' people. See ya'll round the water cooler

Mass can't be worse than second--California takes the cake with your neighbor NY a close second. I moved from NH to FL, thank God. Loved NH and gun laws there are ok, but you can't get anywhere from there. FL resident CCW is good in over 30 states. I can go north to PA as long as I go around MD, and west to the CA border. Not good in NV, but open carry is legal there. Come on down to freedom.

Hey I found the site during some browsing time. The site appears to be pretty organized and I like some of the links, hopefully I'll get some of my questions answered. I might as well tell you folks a little bit about myself; I am residing in North Carolina at the present time and have travelled throughout this country. I am a proud CCW holder, have gotten my wife and daughter their CCW because of the craziness of this country. I am shooting a Glock the wife is carrying a Ruger we are pretty comfy with the weapons.
So I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi folks and thanks.

Greetings all,

I have just arrived in your community and look forward to meeting you all.

The first one got to big and was hanging up the database when I was trying to do some maintenance. I deleted it and started this new one. Post here for new welcomes. Please don't start new threads.

Hi all! I'm an older lady who lives alone out in the country in Florida. My son suggested I get a gun for protection. I had never shot a pistol in my life and was intrigued by the idea. So I took a concealed weapons/ basic firearms safety class. I loved the class and bought a Glock 19 and got my concealed carry license. The gun is, of course, for defense but I discovered that I really enjoy shooting and plan to spend time on the range.

Welcome!

Spend as much time on the range as needed to get as comfortable as possible with your gun and remain that comfortable. It's useless for protection if you're not comfortable with it.
