Hello from Cincinnati Ohio, just moved here form Alabama.
checking out what I need to do to carry in this state
In Alabama all you had to do was be breathing:laugh:
Here you need to take a training class first which i beleive everyone should because safety is #1 priority.

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie from New York. I can hear you laughing regarding the ridicules restrictions put on us in this state. I only have a few more years before retiring to a less communist state. I am glad i found this site, because i think their is wealth of experience and knowledge to tap into.

Dave, you are encouraged to move to New Mexico. Rio Rancho has more NY's than any other 'exotic's. Sandoval County has a great outdoor firing range. The sunshine weather is the greatest and the jobs are plentiful for retirees. Our CCW is about a hundred bucks, and is honored in many states.

We just elected a Conservative CCW Governor, Suzanna Martinez, so our state will return to fiscal responsiblity. Hopefully we will return to honoring Utah's CCW ....again. Things are again lookin' good in NM.
Roswell is growing in retirees as well. Aliens from other worlds are welcomed. We even have a landing strip for them. Been used only once. :>) Don't forget our new 'Spaceport',... just in case...

Just joined and I have questions about being able to carry in Seattle, WA. I have a resident Texas CHL now. Any suggestions ?

Hi, I'm new to the site and new to concealed carry. Even though I am comfortable with firearms, being raised shooting and spending 22 years in the Army, I am finding it hard to get used to carrying. I lood forward to an exchange of good information on this site.

FIBro, First let me say thank you for your service to our country. One of my old friends said that when he started carrying he felt like he had a sign over his head pointing him out. He got over it. As for me I never felt that way. After a few days of carrying, I just forgot the weapon was there. Now I almost feel naked without it. You will get used to carrying very quickly if you choose the right firearm.

I am freshly retired and am now able to handle a major hobby such as casting and reloading. A person never becomes too old to have good clean fun. I mainly joined this forum to meet people and to glean from their experience in reloading and concealed carry as we need to protect ourselves and our rights. Maybe I can contribute as well as recieve in a quest to gain and give wisdom and knowledge. God bless all.

Greetings all. I have been toting iron since 2001. If I have my britches on, I have my "equalizer". If I don't have my britches on I got one within my reach. I am too old to run away. I've been shooting and reloading firearms for some forty (++) years. I am never too proud to learn & hope to learn from y'all.

Thank you for your encouragement Texas Star. I am pretty confortable with any gun. I started firing handguns at 6 yo and had the priveledge to be a junior member of the OK State hi-power rifle team at Camp Perry many years ago. I prefer open carry; that would make me comfortable. I am very large and concealment is difficult. Our new governor said if the open carry bill comes before her it will not be vetoed again. I am proud to be an American and was proud to serve our country.

Hello to group

Newbie to forums so this may take me a time to figure out. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to speak with like minded folks with OUR safety and RIGHTS in mind.

I would like to have open carry also. My favorite would be a Beretta 92 (P-9), having used it for some time, liking the way it functions, field strips, and cleans. It is my understanding that open carry will be considered this legislative session in Texas. However my remarks were related to concealed carry. I am about 6' / 200 lbs. For me choosing a concealed handgun was a trade-off between gun size/weight, knock-down power, and my ability to quickly present the weapon and deliver rapid shots on target. I choose a S&W M&P 9c with LASER carried in a Blackhawk Serpa (level II retention) holster at about 4 o-clock with FBI cant. If possible try out as many guns as you can before deciding. It must work for you.
