Living In Fear Or Exercising Common Sense ?

Treo

Bullet Proof
A friend of mine just posted a story on FB in which she pissed off some guy on the road. He flips her off as he drives by and she returns the gesture because by gawd no one does that to her. The story ends w/ her saying that he won because he ended up in front of her at the next light.

I was told that I live in fear because I noted on her FB page that she’s damn lucky the guy didn’t come out of his car w/ a tire iron at the light and teach the rich b--- in the Volvo a thousand dollar lesson in why “by gawd no one does that to him”.

The funny thing is just down the street from where she said her story happened, a friend of mine got his front teeth knocked out w/ a tire iron 30 years ago for doing the same thing.

Of course I’m sure that incident colored my POV but I would never do that to another driver. You flip me off fine, I never saw it and I have nothing to prove.

Of course , to my knowledge she doesn't carry either so she's not thinking about escalation either

Input?

I wonder if "no one does that to ME!" is why there are so many folks who don't want other people to carry guns because then they would actually have to be polite to folks instead of acting like arrogant male appendages.

It's not fear, it's common sense. You don't know what the other person is capable of doing. There's plenty of people injured or killed each year due to road rage. Unfortunatley the only way it will ever sink in, is by her learning the hard way.

People are wound too tight these days and for some reason in a big hurry, some even looking for a reason to be offended. Lighten up people, slow down, get over it, let it go.

The thing with common sense...is it is not common. Her feeling immune to anything bad in this world, especially when both parties are escalating, is ignorance at best. Common sense...that changes between each individual, and has nothing common involved. While the majority here believe it's common sense to not escalate a situation...50% of the rest of the public feels differently.

Critical thinking is not something taught anymore. The government doesn't want it's subjects to get the idea they can handle personal responsibility. That's governments job.

Treo, you've got common sense and experience. She seems to have arrogance and idiocy. I worked with a woman in Omaha who was like that and had a similar story, only more drawn out and even dumber on her part. Let's hope the incident that is virtually assured to happen to your friend if she doesn't wake up isn't lethal.

Some ladies don't get it, they really think "he can't hit me - I'm a GIRL!"

Like to play with fire? Guess what? You will eventually get burnt. With this country in as much turmoil as it seems to be in what with the world economics, islam terror, a turd living in the whitehouse, economics/job situation in the US, tempers and attitudes are hot---- you will get burnt quicker than you think.

All reasons why gun sales are at an all time high over the last 10 years and specifically over the last 4 years (gee! I wonder why?)

I don't know what the original incident was in the OP that the woman did to tick off the male driver, but in today's world, minor issues can turn to violence at the drop of a hat or in this case, the raising of a finger.

Me personally? I do tend to have a smug attitude towards both type of butt heads in the OP (Not you Treo!)knowing that there is a better that 50-50 chance that I DO carry the upper hand if thing get violent. So I just smile, shake my head or blow them a kiss and go about my business.

Couple of thing on this Treo.

What did she do to tick the guy off in the first place? Minor issues in today's environment can explode. I'd say she won because after doing the first dumb thing and then following it up with an insult to answer and insult, she got to still go home.

I was told that I live in fear because I noted on her FB page that she’s damn lucky the guy didn’t come out of his car w/ a tire iron at the light and teach the rich b--- in the Volvo a thousand dollar lesson in why “by gawd no one does that to him”.

Ask your friend why they consider you living in fear because you state the highly probable outcome of a stupid, childish encounter between to hot headed knuckleheads that should be put in the corner for a time out.

You flip me off fine, I never saw it and I have nothing to prove.

Dude! Major disappointment! Where's the Viking in you??

Of course , to my knowledge she doesn't carry either so she's not thinking about escalation either

But she's also not thinking of the possibility that the guy she ticked off could be the one to escalate the situation after she flips him the bird.[/QUOTE]

She's darned lucky it didn't go any farther than him getting in front of her at the light.

I don't know and the way she wrote it neither did she.

I just point and laugh. Same result.

Just smile or wave, that really pisses them off.

I get the idea but they point is to do nothing to escalate the situation. If I don't even acknowledge them no one can say I pushed the issue to a gunfight.

If I took nothing else from my CHP class I got the concept that if I ever have to use my guns my hands had better be better than squeaky clean, they have to be immaculate
