I am the parent of a teenage autistic son. There aren't too many things over which I lose sleep, but this scenario is one of them. God forbid that he ever does something in complete innocence and finds himself confronted by police. That is a scenario that scares me more than I can say.

I honestly can't imagine the depth of shear terror such a situation must invoke in you. You have my prayers, as does your son and family.

That would worry me too. Especially if I lived in a large town or city. In a small town, it wouldn't likely to ever come to that point. Where I live most of the cops know most of the people, they make the effort to do so. And so far they've never been implicated in any abusive behavior.

This reminded me of a murder of a man who had cerebral palsy and psychiatric disorders, by an Arkansas State Trooper who was listening to his AM/FM radio so loudly, he didn't get the specifics of the incident, and killed Mr. Hamley less than a minute after arriving on scene. Case of mistaken identity.

The Arkansas State Police forfeited one million dollars to the estate of Mr. Hamley, and the trooper retired after serving a slap on the wrist jail sentence, with full medical benefits.

Seeing the images from the fatal beating LEOs gave the victim in this thread, reminded me of this.
