Keep 'Christ' in Christmas!

~Merry Christmas~ everybody!
If any of you are 'offended' by this...GET OVER IT!!
 
Merry Christmas all. Fact- The term "Xmas", an age old shortened form of the word Christmas, originates from the use of the Greek letter chi to represent "Christ" (Χριστός). When the early Christians were being slaughtered by the Romans for practicing their "new" religion, the early Christians used the character X from Greek to signify the word Christ, a sort of graffiti code the Romans were not quick to decipher. As a rebellious action, the X ended up being scratched into walls all over the mideast and eventually all over the world. X means Christ in Greek. It is to honor Him. That is a fact.

I have no problem wishing all a Merry Christmas, I am a Catholic BTW, but I also understand that Merry Xmas is a valid religious term and is not some grand atheist conspiracy to deny our Savior His dignity.
 
We were just talking about the 'X' in Christmas as a shortcut and hubby said he'd rather spell it out because 'X' is somewhat off. Anyway, Merry Christmas all...hope your turkey is moist and juicy...we're having pork in sunny Missouri to keep the terrorists out of our yard. LOL

Mom: Nothing is better than pork, fried, baked or BBQ'd and, with that added factor of keeping the terrorists at bay, should be our national meat.
 
Here is hoping everyone had a safe and very Merry Christmas, hope santa was good (or at least fair) to everyone. Lets keep Christ in Christmas, and all year long, Amen.

I've heard this before, and I don't doubt what you're saying. But meanings of things change as time goes by. Example one is the cross itself, once a symbol of shame, now transformed into a symbol of love, hope, and redemption.

But as we enter 2013, I do not believe "Xmas" is used to honor Christ. It is used by those who are, too often, forgetting him. It is used not to honor Christ, but to dismiss him.

Okay, so maybe "Xmas" was to honor Christ at some point in long-ago history. But not today.

Keep the "Christ" in Christmas.
