Gun Owner Calls Help Hotline, Gets Raided by SWAT

Anyone hear about the SWAT raid at a home where the person they were looking for was delinquent on educational loans and hadn't lived in the home for 2 years which was now owned by her ex who was man handled, threatened and detained in front of his young children. They did substantial damage to the entrance door and frame to boot and did not offer to repair it.

Did yall not read that he called the wrong hotline? He called the suicide hotline and answered that he had guns. Depressed people + guns = a "possible" bad situation (not every time). If he were actually suicidal and called the National Suicide Hotline like he did, said he had guns, then ended up hurting himself or others, everyone in the chain would get ass raped for not doing more.

Wow it really works great!!! We get to see first hand how the signing of the NDAA Bill into Law really works. Thank you Der Leader I feeeeeel ssooooo much safer now...I will sleep good tonight....no depression what so ever here....I am so happy and love life each and every Day! Can they take you away if you are tooo Happy and Gay? (gay means Happy, by the way)

Police State

Every police department needs a citizen review board. The review board will be made up of several citizens from that police jurisdiction. The citizen review board will review each allegation of police misconduct. The citizen review board will decide on the appropriate action. Until each police jurisdiction has a citizen review board these problems will contuinue.

I don't see the problem here. He stated he was depressed, they knew he had guns. He called the suicidal hotline on accident then shut off the phone. They called several times he said so they probably thought he killed himself or was hurting others. They didn't have to tear the place to pieces but I think they did the right thing by going there in case he was actually crazy.

Amen to that desert eagle. In a way asking for help just caused more problems. I pray he gets better.

May GOD bless each and everyone of our freedom fighters.

Really? You are defending this guy? He obviously has mental issues (ie: PTSD, Depression). He called a National Suicide Hotline, and admitted to having guns in the house. This is what a trained police response does - secures the area of a potential threat. I guarantee the military would have done the same if this was on a base or at a camp. Don't get me wrong, I am 100% for the Second Amendment, and I exercise my right to carry every day. But when we (ie: responsible gun owners) start to defend actions like this and call them outrageous, we begin to lose credibility with the general public. Remember, this is, first and foremost, a Public Relations war we are fighting. Choose your battles wisely!

None the less it was an unnecessary and extreme use of force for no reason. When I was in college I had a roommate who had just lost his dog and got really depressed so he called a suicide/help line just because he needed to talk with someone and 3 cops showed up in the wee hours of the morning. They didn't beat the door down, they knocked and rang the door bell until I answered (I was sleeping and roomie woke me to answer door "cause he knew what was going on) and as soon as the door was open they started in and so I stopped them and asked wth they were doing, I didn't say to come in, and they stopped and remained outside until they had an explanation as to what was going on. Once they explained themselves in a nice manner I allowed them in and they told me he called and we went through the standard procedures. I had guns in my room too but I lied when the cops asked and luckily my roomie didn't know I had any 'cause he probably would've ratted me out. After about 20 minutes they left with only what they came with, no doors were broken, no swat teams, no arrests, no bruised limbs or ego's. That happened in Denver and during the very AG Clinton Administration. My how times and laws and rights have changed and not for our benefit.

The facts matter.

This just shows how a simple mistake can magnify, and how a lack of facts can lead to improper judgements. The article leaves out a lot of information. It never says what he told the Suicide hotline. It never says what the hotline told the police, this is a huge question, they may be more liable then the PD. Really you need more information, more facts to understand what happened.

Sounds more like a bunch of d**k swinging on the part of the police. This kind of over aggressive response is becoming all too common and for the most part not needed. Totally unjustified and unnecessary handling of a non threatening situation. He apparently called the wrong hotline too. He never threatened anyone or himself either. Many people get depressed this time of year but that doesn't mean they are all out to create mayhem. Nope these gung ho douche bags need a vigilante ass kickin

Sounds like this thread was started out of hatred for the police instead of concern for the suicidal guy.

Nah, that doesn't happen here ;-) let me ask you, are you an LEO or ex-LEO? You seem to be defending the police action and I don't understand why with their attitudes toward citizens today and gestapo mentality derived from DHS and the WH
