For people who doubt the .380 can do the job.

I love your frog Oldgrunt. That's exactly the right attitude. I don't think DGeorge is conceding defeat. I think his attitude is great also. You do what you can with what you have, keep firing no matter what caliber you have for as long as you need to and I think he would. A .380 is lighter and easier to handle for some. Heck if you need to carry a .22, do it. Carry what ever you are comfortable with. Someone who is methed out will be harder to take down but so will someone who is shooting for their life.

As for Wild Dog, my guess is bar bouncer which I guess one could still count as security.

I carry a Glock 27 which is .40 caliber. I bought it because I found one in the color I wanted. I typically carry a 9mm so I purchased a Lone Wolf conversion barrel for it and normally keep it as a 9mm. I have more 9mm ammo because I have always carried one. I do swap it to a .40 if I am hiking and likely to come upon large 4 legged animals but for 2 legged animals, I am comfortable with the 9mm and I save a few bucks in ammo that way also.

OldGrunt, I agree with you completely. I did not say I would give up easily, but I also am realistic and old enough to know that no matter what gun i carry there is someone somewhere that could stick that gun up my butt along with any spare Mags I am carrying. The old saying that " There never was a horse that couldn't be rode, and there never was a cowboy that couldn't be throwd", applies here. If I were a LEO venturing into the cesspools I might carry a larger weapon, in fact I probably would carry a couple. But I am not a LEO, I don't frequent wild redneck or biker bars, I eat in very nice restaurants where I have never seen a drunk, I live in a neighborhood in Reston Virginia that is peaceable and unlikely to be threatening. I believe that three quick rounds from a 22lr would make all but the most deranged mugger rethink their intentions and maybe cause them to consider a career change. The odds are way in my and my Walthers favor, and it is the odds we should consider. In fact a can of pepper spray is probably as good as a handgun in most situations, and even considerably better in many.

By the way Oldgrunt, I also am an old grunt. Not infantry but 3rd Batt 84th Artillery. Known as "Cannon Cockers" to you grunts. My weapons in the Army were the 1911 ( which I loved) an M14 and an M79 grenade launcher. Now if I were really paranoid, if it weren't for the collateral damage, the M79 might be my choice. Old grunt if we met, we might have stories to swap.

That's true, you can always use pepper spray and shouldn't always use a gun. Pepper spray is handy for ornery dogs also. I always keep a small canister handy.

Wild Bill used the .36 cap and ball with great success. Be it a .45 or a .380, two in the chest and one in the head and the BG won't know the difference. Dead is dead.

Howdy,

I guess Rev. Ringo must have forgotten that Jesus taught love, forgiveness, and turning the other cheek not shooting someone twice in the chest and once in the head.

Yep, we could probably swap lies (or stories that is) about the old days. By the way, I was made an Artillery Survey Specialist when I first put on my combat boots. Didn't like that stuff and went on to bigger and better things. Would do it all over again if possible. My next foxhole will be that deep one. I purchased my grave next to a Marine Gunnery Sgt. I went to church with so we can swap lies also. LOL

Actually, the .36 cap and ball is about the same ballistically to the .380.

And while I agree with you that dead is dead, I would prefer to make my enemy more dead. I want him so dead that he would rather fall into Hell than risk facing me again.

You have people that hate you at your age, in Jr. High? Wow. It took me years to get a real enemy.

It's funny you say, because Jr. High was the first time I ever dropped the hammer on someone. Two armed men had broken into our house. My dad, a nebbish intellectual, had never permitted weapons in the house, he didn't believe in them. But when he was confronted with the two burglars all he could do was wet himself as he cried and begged and offered my mom and I to them in exchange for sparing him.

Too funny!

Come on WD and post a pic of yourself. You can NOT spend your entire life being a scared wussy. Grow a set of nuts and post a pic of yourself.

I've managed to scrub all traces of my appearance from all internet and social media sites. The yakuza and other criminal organizations have a kill on sight order for me, and you want me to put a picture of myself on here? Get real. I already risk enough by giving you all the privilege of knowing my adventures and this is the thanks I get.

I had to block it/her/him again, wow, I can put up with a load of crap but I think it/she/him really believes some of its filth, so, just Block the it. Very sad case for sure, maybe it is in a home for its own good and ours. Anyway, hope it/she/him takes the meds and does not get too close to the toilet with out some help and if the home is of help then the tax money is worth it.
Howdy Wild Dog,

I think that was meant for you, not me.
