I was pointing this towards all of the "anti-cop no matter what" posters.

Yes, he was killed by a black muslim(?) gang member(?) from Baltimore that killed his girlfriend before departing Balt. then went to NYC specifically to kill 2 random cops.

Well here's a bit of "ammunition" for Fluffy to "call me out on" too then: I'm also biased against musloids and gangstas. I freely admit it. Quite a risky mission you've taken on to join here just to call me out for things I freely admit to, Fluffster. I don't trust and have no particular affection for any group that practices brutality and barbarism to make their livings or engage in their lifestyles. Yes, I include cops in that evaluation. Go ahead Fluffy, call me out on it. I dare you! LOL What a freakin' tool.

Regarding the "Tree of Liberty", yes, it was you that associated this obviously patriotic aphorism to the likes of petty criminal Eric Garner, who did not deserve what he got, but was in no way a patriot. He was a petty criminal that did not want to go BACK to the pokie, plain and simple.

Yeah, and you're still twisting, wholly misunderstanding, or outright lying about what I said in that regard. I said that to him, Garner, anything he did to fertilize the Tree was unintentional and that he was unaware of it because it was the discussion of cop brutality that arose after his death that I was applying relative to the quote. I said he ended up on the "patriot" side of the equation only because it's for damn sure no tyrant's blood was spilled that day. But you don't care. As long as you can twist it into thinking I'd be happy that two cops got murdered in cold blood yesterday, it's all the same to your lyin' self.

The thing I can't get past is that by virtue of deciding to be a cop, someone has offended you and is the enemy.

It's no surprise that your lying, badgefluffing self can't read the list of 72 reasons for seeing government and/or cops as the enemy that I posted here, and manage to "get past" the basis for being offended. Nobody who loves government or cops as much as you do would ever allow themselves to acknowledge that government and cops have established themselves as the enemies to the Constitution, to individual freedoms, to morality, and to both man's and God's laws. I could not be any clearer in stating my reasons, which means only that you could not be any more purposeful in your "inability" to "get past" those reasons.

Yeah, I heard that read on the news this morning. I said a prayer for both his dad and him, as well as the other cop and his family, while you wasted your time here trying to imply that I'm celebrating both the kid's pain and his dad's murder. You're a sick puppy, whodat. Much sicker than I thought before coming here and seeing this dishonest, offensive, insulting, vituperative and defamatory post of yours.

I simply do not see how gun control laws apply in this in any way.. It was ambush, premeditated and if every soul on the city block was armed, not one could have prevented this senseless murder.
On the other note, Anger against against cops that are the bad apples are uderstandable. The revolution, as some put it, needs to come from within those departments. To imagine we do not need police, albeit well trained, is such folly.
I get tired of the rehtoric here. Common sense seems to go wayside.

Is that why police officers' lives are so much more valuable in this country than anyone else other than politicians? Is that why when someone kills a police officer, every law enforcement agency for miles around will band together to form massive manhunts and track down the criminal usually within 24 hours and use any possible excuse they can to kill the criminal when they find him meanwhile drive by shootings of non-LEO victims are routine and in some places daily investigations? Is that why police, including retired police, have the Law Enforcement Officers' Safety Act while the rest of us enjoy "reasonable" and "common sense" gun control?

I don't celebrate the death of police officers. But I refuse to believe that any innocent victim of a murder is that much more tragic or worthy of massive manhunts over another just because of the chosen occupation of the victim.

I think the murder of a police officer is a little bigger event than the murder of a soccer mom or dentist in that if someone will trample on one of them, they will trample on many of us. The officer is not a higher prized chess piece, but the game gets much more serious once one is taken. I have no problem with that. Where our system fails is we have no punishment for crime, only a system of time out that works to build up the criminal and make him stronger upon his release. If the punishment would be reinstated and the punishment would fit the crime, our streets would be safe again and we could have Andy and Barney back again.

The consternation on this topic is about personal world view, interactions with police good or bad (including possible employment), perceptions of the job itself, and LE relating to the greater society.
- Hardcore cop supporters believe, for the most part, that LE is a thankless job that involves constant danger, gets little respect and is underpaid. They believe that LEO's are the shield between civil society and the mongol hordes and only act in the best interest of the public they protect. There are very few bad cops in the ranks, IAD's will sort out and deliver justice to those that do wrong, and perps are almost always bad guys. It's believed that police officers receive expert training and perform exceptionally in all aspects of their jobs be it... firearms, dispute discernment, threat assessment, life saving, driving, arriving "just in time" to save the victim, and making sure children cross the street safely. [Currently, much of this perception is due to television, "the way things used to be", and outright propaganda emanating from a variety of sources.]

35 - 40 years ago, much of the above was probably true due to community and neighborhood policing, real world training, better candidate selection, and what I believe to be a high level of personal character of American's in general. America was in the era of pre - war on drugs, pre- terrorism in America, pre - political correctness; patriotism, our flag, work, common sense, and national unity was still respected and venerated. Congress was by in large still working for the people and the President was an American in every way. The economy, though still rigged to some degree, functioned for the every-man and the American dream was attainable.

Today, virtually all of the above has evaporated and been replaced with police officers recruited for their proclivity to obey orders above their oath to the Constitution, training that emphasizes no-hesitation lethal force, and "every citizen is a suspect". Today's cop is told that any interaction probably involves guns, drugs, terrorism, child molestation, or ill gotten financial proceeds. LEO's (being fallible human beings), avail themselves to the benefits of moral hazard, court approved civil forfeiture, total dominance in any interplay with the public, and almost universal unquestioned loyalty by consorts and regulators. Many of the most egregious and well documented examples of misconduct by police result in no indictments, head scratching "not guilty verdicts, reversals upon appeal, union nullification, ridiculous sentences, and vastly reduced charges if indicted. Well documented video, webcams, police cams, body cams, etc... rarely result in discipline. Disappearing evidence and tampering with same, infrequently results in a thorough investigation and if there is one it gets bogged down or becomes invalidated in some way. Statistically, it is impossible that such a small amount of police misconduct is indictable, proven guilty, and given such light sentences. Who has gotten to who? When an entire system involving state employees who's job incorporates the sanctioning of arrest, physical harm, and/or potential death of those to whom it's charged are able to operate in an atmosphere of little to no consequences - there will be nothing to stand against the complete corruption of the organization and those involved in it.

I have had a wonderful life. And it continues to this day. I grew up in what I refer to as the last "Norman Rockwell" generation. I stayed out till the streetlights came on. I lived across from a farm and helped plant corn. I saw and lived through some of the most interesting times in modern history. I have, and continue to participate in the US political scene. I travelled all across the US and the world. I have married, fathered and raised children, including foster kids. I have mourned my wife when she died and been glad for the memories of the things we shared.

Yeah, nothing in MY life to be thankful for.
