Do you pay attention to the signs? Follow the law?

My problem is that regardless of signs, daycare and churches are off-limits to ccw.

Sure enough some states prohibit CCW in childcare and in churches, other states have no such prohibition. This reinforces our obligation to know our state's CCW laws and the CCW laws of states with reciprocity that we visit.

Of course banning guns, whether it is done by the government or by private individuals on private property, is complete total idiocy since it does not make anyone "safe" but only makes some folks "feel safe" while adding to some politician's power. Actually an argument can be made that gun free zones make people in those zones "unsafe" because basically, to a criminal, those gun free zones are nothing more than target rich areas free from any resistance.

Thing is.. even if it is idiocy the private property owner still has the right to be an idiot and has the right to ban guns.

And personally I do not think banning guns is wise... but I still respect the right of a private property owner to unwisely ban guns.

Never said that was any better.

But at the end of the day what have we accomplished by banning you and me from carrying? Does it or can it ever prevent anything? So why do we focus so much time and attention on fiddling with who can carry what where and when instead of focussing on punishing those that use guns for illicit purposes? Just food for thought.

"We" haven't banned anyone from carrying anywhere. Some of us respect the wishes of others is all. Just as we would expect our own wishes to be respected on our property. I wouldn't ask someone to disarm to enter my property, but if I did, my wishes will be respected.

wow i just read this whole thread and nothing was said about the no loaded gun policy at the gun shows which i found kinda odd they would make us unload and zip strip our guns before we entered with them which does make it hard to fit for a holster or check if a magazine is going to work properly in your pistol ........... even some or most ranges have a sign saying you must only bring in a cleared empty gun ........

What he said!!!:shout::agree::yes2:

I pay attention to the signs, and follow them. The consequences of not doing so in several states are severe. (In other states, not so much.) And if someone doesn’t want me to carry, they don’t want my money either.

It was stated above that some states carry in a church is off-limits.
Some states may require a letter from the church to carry.
If your church will give you a letter, FIND A NEW CHURCH.

Did you mean to say if they WON'T give you a letter?
