With practice, you can develop muscle memory and always have a proper sight picture off the draw. After a while, using the sights becomes the same as pointing.

if you are waiting to get the gun up to a point that your eyes can pick up the sights before firing, you are a victim, at close range, under 3-4 yards my gun is barking as soon as it clears the holster

If you really think you can shoot in the dark, more power to you. Just don't forget you are responsible for that bullet no matter what. If I am shooting in the jungle (my case) or blasting away in the desert, know one gives a crap if you take out an extra jungle monkey, or rag head. Here at home you had better be worried that the bullet you send meets it mark. Conditions are different for everyone. The best judge for what is best is your own judgment.

If the felon happens to notice the little red dot on his chest, it might even present a deterrent like the racking of a shotgun. That said, the BG might not notice, and if you have a calibrated (zeroed) laser, it may enhance your chance to hit what you're aiming at. If you can gain any advantage, in the sandbox or in the states, why not? I cant afford night vision goggles, and I have a laser in case it is night and iron sights don't work

I have one on my LC9. It is a great training tool. I shoot 10 of every 50rds with the laser. After shooting through my regular training regimen (which has been adjusted to use fewer rounds) I shoot the last 10 with the laser. Since I am already locked in on the iron sight part, I shoot the first 1 or 2 just to check the zero on the laser. After that I like to see how steady I can make the trigger pull, and nothing will show you where you are having issues like trying to keep an itty-bitty dot on an x.

I do still have the laser on my gun after the range. If I need ity it is there. It adds no weight, does not alter how I carry, draw or aim. There is no downside for me, and if I decided that i needed it, it's there.

You are quite correct, whodat2710, using my laser showed me that I would sometimes drop the end of the barrel at the end of the trigger pull. It was from working with my laser that I corrected that problem, and I like to concentrate on keeping the dot steady through the shot. Just one MORE advantage to having a laser sight. The LC9 (my 2nd carry LC9), LCP, AND SR22 I bought this week all have lasers, too. Just like night sights, scopes, etc, it's just another tool that gives us an advantage.

here's a hint for y'all, you will find yourself full of holes because the BG will not bother with lasers, sights or anything else.
as one of my SD trainers so eloquently put it, he who gets his shots off first usually wins and in battles of this nature you always want to win.

It is also a lot quicker to get on target than getting into the "proper" stance, aim, and shoot. Silvercliff_46 is correct when he says it is about "machismo". You anti-laser guys seem to think that you are better (more manly?) than those of us who see lasers as a legitimate tool that is available to us. All of the pistols I have purchased in the last month also have "night" sights; do you also see those as less manly, too? Should I be forced to paint over those luminous dots on my iron sights, too, when I'm supposed to remove my laser sight to increase my manliness? A laser sight is a legitimate tool that is available to us so get over it or take the scopes off your rifles.

maybe you haven't noticed but the forum you are on is CONCEALED CARRY, a sniper is doing a very different thing than a guy who is carrying a concealed handgun, completely different skill sets are in play.

you too must be confused, this isn't about scopes on rifles this is about the skills and tools necessary to defend yourself against bad guys on the street. google tueller drill for a sample of one scenario you may have to deal with one day. lining up your laser will get you seriously injured or killed.

If your gun is barking as soon as it is out of the holster, you are going to be in for an unpleasant surprise once you realize your attacker is unharmed. Adrenaline dump can be a *****.
