Best set-up for home defense?

8 rounds of Remington Express #4 Buckshot out of a semi-auto shotgun for me:


Federal Premium #1 Buckshot with Flight Control is also a good option if you need to keep the pattern tight:


I understand the birdshot motivation. #4 and #1 buckshot will pass through 3 interior walls. In contrast, birdshot passes through only 1. Buckshot is certainly still deadly after passing through 1, while birdshot is simply not. For comparison, 9mm passes through 4 walls and .45 ACP through 3.

I just switched from OO buck to the Remington Express #4. I live in a "townhouse" style home and penetration is a concern but I obviously want to put the person down and birdshot just ain't gonna do it.

I carry around the house and property. We are isolated out here. There are other weapons located nearby. If multiple BG's home invade they will suffer greatly.
