You ever see those signs with a handgun with a red line thru it? My question...well one of my questions is, how do they know you are carrying? Its called Conceal Carry for a reason, right? Second question, why not just put a sign in the window that reads open for robbery? Cant fix Stupid...

You have too much time on your hands and you are only preaching to the choir.

I think most people are not realizing that the most likely reason the majority of these signs exist is for insurance purposes. If a negligent discharge were to occur the premise owner/insurance company would have an easier time defending a lawsuit if it could say they dont allow firearms on the premise. If someone chooses to ignore that then the premise owner will say, hey, we tried and it's not our fault. I have never defended a lawsuit involving these circumstances but like with anything else it would factor into the equation. Just like having a bouncer in a bar where they know there are fights. You have a duty to use reasonable care. Not saying that not putting up a sign means you are negligent but instead saying putting up a sign makes it easier to defend.

Whenever I see one signs I think "Victim Zone"

Treo beat me to the "aloud" vs. "allowed" joke.

But more seriously to the OP's question. In some states those signs have the force of law behind them. Also in some states there are certain types of businesses that you can't carry in whether or not a sign is posted.
