Our consciousness is also tied to the grey matter it resides in. If you get brain injury, your personality can change. What happens to a true believer that gets brain damage that changes him enough that he no longer believes in god? Is he saved based on his mindset from before or after the injury? It's not his fault he's messed up.

You have brought up some good points. I may not agree but nevertheless this is much better that the attacks.

sinful nature is always hostile to God....

And what about mentally challenged people? They exist within a large scale of abilities to take care of themselves and think clearly. At what point on the scale are they still saved if they don't believe?

I not sure I can give you an answer you would agree with since your belief is different, so your question really is with God and that's not where you are searching.

For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

What about the people that ended up in a really hostile marriage, primarily that is just the way it worked out. The divorce was off the scale as far as contempt and hate for each other, or when it reaches the point that one spouse murders the other, yet we are to believe that there will be a blissful reuniting in heaven? Similar situations where people would be reunited with abusive parents, whom they have not had any contact with since they were old enough (or sooner) to leave home and put the abuse behind them. I'm sure the woman who was sexually abused by her father for years would love to spend eternity with him. After all his ticket to heaven is to merely repent for his sins, no matter how heinous they were, even if the god that advocates incest disapproved in the first place. According to the bible, raping your 14 year old daughter, or at least having someone else do it is a fathers right, right?

Sounds like what christians portray as hell to me, eternal torment.

I don't have any first hand insight as I grew up in a loving home, without religion, and have been married to the love of my life, also an atheist, for 46 years now (together 51+), but I have friends this would apply to. My best friend, who is in his mid-50's, still has restraining orders in force against his parents, and his daughters also have restraining orders in force against their grandparents. A number of years ago, myself, and a couple of other men were asked to provide security at his daughters wedding in case his parents showed up. We were even given photo's of his parents and were to prevent their entry to the church if they showed up. What a joyous family reunion that will be in heaven.

OBTW, I have made that very clear in previous posts.... nothing... You, I, and the every other living thing on this planet all face the same end. Doesn't matter if it is the most devote believer or the yellow jackets I dispatched yesterday.... nothing follows. No heaven, no hell, nothing, nada, zip, zilch follows..

We are not special, we like every other living thing in the universe simply cease to exist.... Your and my consciousness or self-awareness or what ever you want to call it dies when our brain ceases to function.

That is reality, religion is a crutch for those that can't/won't accept reality.

XD: Have you ever considered that you may be suffering from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder? You seem obsessed with religion and are unable to stay away from the subject. You have an overwhelming urge to put down anyone who believes in God and this urge is controlling your behavior. Most healthy people have repetitive rituals in their lives such as checking locked doors, insuring appliances are off before leaving home and for other reasons but not to the degree that they become debilitating. You seem to have a problem constantly obsessing about religion, and, for a self-avowed atheist, one would think you shouldn't be bothered by the subject. Instead, you are unable to stay away from religious topics and seemed determined to project your thoughts (or insecurities) on others. In order to incessantly rant about religion being fairy tales, it seems as if you may not be as secure in your unbelief as you constantly state. It seems your rabid denial of God, and religion in general, has started to develop leaks, leaving you in a quandry. To believe, or not to believe, that is the question!

When you draw your last breath on this earth, I firmly believe you will be face to face with Jesus Christ. Then I would love to hear your explanation to Him on why He doesn't exist and He is only part of a fairy tale. Then, old son, reality will stare you in the face and you will remember all the diatribe you have been spewing for so long. Best of luck to you!

Only a Christian will be face to face with Christ Jesus after drawing their last breath in this life (First Death). (2 Corinthians 5:8)..."We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord". All others go straight to HELL to await the White Throne Judgement at the end of the Tribulation when they are cast into the Lake of Fire (Second Death).

Out of arguments so you are turning it to be my fault that christians are using every tactic to force their biblical laws into civil laws that effect every single person in the country... Are you also ignoring another religion is doing the same on the other side of the world, and how that is working out for freedom over there?

The reason I can't ignore religion and the religious is the fact that only a fool ignores threats, a threat in my backyard, and houses of government. Of course god, and all the other unpleasant characters in your bible are not the slightest threat, but the people that believe that nonsense are a clear and present danger.

Yes, I understand you believe in a fairy tale existence after your die..... something programmed into you starting possibly before your potty training was attempted... but that don't make it so. You would be very disappointed at the moment of your death, for you will just be dead, and your consciousness dies with your body.

And there is no quandary in my mind, I don't even give the BS of religion (any of them) the slightest consideration, but I have a great deal of concern over the atrocities people that do believe will commit.

XD: Maybe I have been giving you more credit than you deserve. I (we) don't have to argue because we do believe. You are the one who doesn't believe and have to continually cast aspersions against our religion, If you are trying to compare our religion to Islam, I would strongly suggest you study the differences between Christianity and Islam. Any thinking person should be able to see what is happening in the ME and they are trying to bring it here and, yes, we will fight like hell to keep Islam on the desert sands.

You continually whine about Christianity forcing Biblical laws on you. In case you haven't noticed, we have been under Biblical law for quite some time and we all fared quite well. Only when we started taking God out of our laws, governments, schools and families did we start our downward spiral. You are obviously of the liberal bent and resent our attempts to stop abortions, homosexuality, same sex marriages and all the other violations of God's laws. We only want to keep God's laws because they have worked and we were a much better society when we followed them. For those who are upholding the deviant behaviors being perpetrated upon us, they are equally as guilty as those performing the deeds. The changes in our civil laws you want will cause nothing but destruction to the country and a total loss of morality in our upcoming generations. I have great-grandchildren being taught LGBT wickedness and depravity in school today and revisionist history trying to make evil attractive and to change our society. No, I do not like that, not only because it is against God's laws, but should be an abomination to all decent and moral people. If you are content with that, you can only be part of our problems so you can't complain about the evil coming upon you.

Finally XD, everything happening to us as a nation has been foretold by the Bible. The Bible is like reading tomorrow's newspaper. How many Biblical prophecies have to occur for you to believe?

And what about mentally challenged people? They exist within a large scale of abilities to take care of themselves and think clearly. At what point on the scale are they still saved if they don't believe?

Do you think God would not have compassion on these people? What about the blind man who was healed? What about the person He drove the demons from? What about the woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years that was healed by touching the hem of His garment?

The Bible says God knows our hearts and, regardless of injury or otherwise to the body, He knows the person's heart and soul, having given them to him/her before birth. Why try to make things difficult by trying to think for God? We aren't qualified.

And the little girl that fell down the rabbit hole? Oh wait, I have confused my fairy tales......

Yes, I have noticed, and have you noticed that the SCOTUS continues to rule your biblical laws are unconstitutional, and that we live under a lot less than we did even in our life time?

And some of them were so insane. Blue laws for example. NC used to be so stupid that you could only (legally) purchase food items on "the sabbath" (but only the christian one). In addition to food, you could buy paper towels because they are used in food preparation, but it was illegal to buy toilet paper because people were in church or similar stupidity. Even today, one cannot purchase any alcohol before church let's out. Not a big deal at all, but a shinning example of the stupidity and overreach of bible babble.

Kinda, sorta, and with a great deal of imagination... You write enough stories about human behavior, at some point in time, a similar event will occur.

So whip out your book, and tell us who will be the next president.... when is the next stock market crash.... when does the Yellowstone caldera finally blow and end civilization as we know it.

So the imaginary god drove imaginary demons from someone's mind... yep, I'm sold. Had a blood "issue" for 12 years, but healed at a touch.... at a time when the purpose of blood was a complete mystery or even disease for that matter.

And recently? Oh yea, babies and small children die of horrible diseases and birth defects.... cause god needs some 'little souls' running around heaven, while parents suffer unimaginable grief. What a peachy keen god.....

I have bolded the flaw in your thinking... your source is 100% the work of mere men, some witness to things far beyond their comprehension so they highly embellished or simplified to the point it no longer scared them.

Seems as though XD is not only OCD, but he does nothing in life but set at his computer waiting for someone to vent his raft on. It is indeed an sad epitaph.
Lost, alone, sinful and dark. What a waste of human flesh.

From the weaselly little coward that crows about having me on his ignore list, yet takes childish pot shots from hiding.... were your god real, he would facepalm watching the cowardice you exemplify... a waste of the air your breath.

XD: You seem to take particular pleasure in questioning the validity of the Bible but there is one problem here. If one discards the validity of Scripture as being unreliable and/or trustworthy, you must apply your same standard or test to all secular literature of antiquity. You can't use one standard for one and another standard for the other. The same test applies equally. When you make that same examination and same standard, you can easily determine that the Bible is trustworthy and reliable. I know you will now go into a song and dance against that hypothesis being a valid measure but there are too many facts from history and archaeology to prove your theories wrong. Rather than continue to argue against the unarguable, why don't you sit down and study and produce (if you can) literature and archaeological facts that bolster your unbelief? You are good at railing against God but have not in any manner disproved the fact that He exists. You are the one who says He doesn't exist so, if you are are truly steadfast in that opinion, prove to us all that God does not exist. We have presented enough literature and facts to prove He does exist. Now it is time for you to put up or shut up.

Years ago, Sir Walter Scott made a reference to the Scriptures you might find interesting:

"Within that awful volume lies
The Mystery of mysteries
Happiest they of human race
To whom God has granted grace
To read, to fear, to hope, to pray
To lift the latch, and force the way;
And better had they ne'er been born
Who read to doubt, or read to scorn."
