What Happens to Us When We Die?

Because the rational presented to believe is fear, whether irrational or real.

For scenario 1, a believer does not fear hell because they believe in salvation. For a non believer, they don't believe hell exists so they can not fear it.

That's way different from scenario two, one who is willing to kill, putting fear of bodily injury into both believers of a different faith and non believers.

A. Do you carry a gun out of fear? Do you recommend others carry a gun because of fear?

B. Do you threaten to kill others for not carrying a gun?

Is there a difference between A and B?

Bill: The fact that you want to believe is a good start. Something (or someone) has attracted your attention so you need to pursue that. Do you read the Bible? Do you go to church? Do you do anything to learn more about God?...........

What gets me is the vastness of space. There is no end to it. Even if the universe ends, space continues forever. Humans cannot comprehend forever. We try to by relating it to time. That only makes it more confusing. Based on that, there has to be something else. Is it as they say per Bible? I don't know, and neither does anyone else living on this planet. An Asteroid could hit us tomorrow and wipe all of us out. Then what? Nothing for hundreds of millions of years into the future. Where does Al Gore fit into that? And the fact is, that is the real, "Inconvenient Truth". We are so insignificant on this planet, it's sometimes not even worth talking about. We ourselves think we are. We create God's who are supposedly watching our every move, so he, she, it, whatever, can judge us after we die from our lives which are so short, they're not even worth mentioning in the scope of time in relation to the universe.

.

This leads me to believe something created all of this somehow. Was it God per Bible? I don't know. It's a belief that is out there which is very convenient to latch on to as the answer. For me, at this point in my life, it's just too simple to buy into. Since we as humans have existed on this Earth, we have only traveled approx. 480,000 miles round trip to the Moon. The universe is conservatively estimated to be at least 13 BILLION light years in length. Light travels 186,000 miles in one second. We have in essence gone nowhere since man began to exist on this planet. Yet we carry on about our "achievements". It's almost laughable. If there is a God, he's got a lot more on his mind than us.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner, and yet christian continue to threaten atheists with "your going to hell" nonsnese. DoH

But the rational is still fear.

A. Do you carry a gun out of fear? Do you recommend others carry a gun because of fear?

I carry a gun because of a REAL threat, all one has to do is watch the evening news to understand that.
But I do NOT carry a gun out of fear, as I'm not afraid of the bad guys out there, merely prepared to defend myself if needed. Same reason we wear a seat-belt when we drive, have fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, preparation and just common sense against actual threats to our safety, in the remote chance we are in a wreck, or have a fire in our home, real actual threats, not made up, not derived from fairy tales..

B. Do you threaten to kill others for not carrying a gun?
Of course not, but if they are a friend I will explain the rational of why they should be armed, and I can support that with facts, including dead victims, or dead bad guys where the good guy did have a gun.

Many times I have been told I'm going to hell by a christian, and yet none of them have offered any facts or evidence to support their nonsense.

What you called being prepared, an anti gunner would call fear and threats. What christians consider being prepared, you consider fear and threats.

If a theist saying not believing in a diety will send you to hell is little different than a theist saying if you don't believe I'll kill you...then by your logic...threatening someone will be killed by a bad guy, burn in their home, or die in a car crash unless they believe in preparedness is little different as threatening to kill them for not believing in preparedness. Same rationale, whether or not the threat is actually real to either party.

It seems, from your perspective, you can't differentiate between a fake threat (going to hell) and a real threat (actually killing you). If you can't differentiate between real or fake, then what you think/feel is a threat or fear is nonsense.

If you believe the threat is real with a gun, it doesn't matter if it's fake or not, you're going to kill the perp, or alleged perp. Just like the cop did in South Carolina yesterday. He was full of $h!t. That guy was no threat to anyone. He could barely run fast enough to get out of his own way. No matter, the cop thought and believed he was a "threat", and acted according to his belief. Result.... Dead guy, same as if he was a real threat.

.

If a Christian who believes is wrong about his belief, (just like the cop was), he hurts no one. He just gets cheated out of a belief he thought was real. Point being don't compare a Christians belief to guys running around with guns. They don't hurt anyone if they're wrong. It's a lousy analogy regardless of how you look at it.

That's not the comparison, lousy comprehension. Why are you responding to me anyways, don't you have more threads to shut down somewhere else?

The universe is so vast and probably populated by innumerable type of beings which, in the long run, makes us seem even less than insignificant in the whole scheme of things. Yet, we were all created by God, not God being created by us. Although we consider ourselves to be insignificant, our God considers us to be significant enough to allow His Son, Jesus Christ, to die and take all the sins of the world on Himself as an atoning sacrifice and save us from the fate we deserve. All that is asked from us in return is the acceptance of Jesus as our Savior and to follow His rules which have been given us in the form of the Bible. Do any of us possess a love so strong that we would allow our sons to die for someone else? God did, so that indicates to me that we are indeed significant to Him and deserving of our love and adoration.

There is a passage I would recommend to you from the Bible, short, but to the point. Matthew 11:28-30, "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Tae my yoke upon you, and learn of me: for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." The more you learn, the better your understanding will be.

But if you believe, (as I do), there are many other beings out there, who live on many other worlds far, far away. All of which were created by God. (Which I would like to believe). How are the people on X-29, 550,000,000 light years away going to know about Jesus? He, and all the guys who wrote the Bible are HERE??? They know as little about God, as we know about them.

You managed that with your contribution to the political forum.

That was sten, but I wouldn't expect you to realize that with such lousy reading comprehension...I can't complain though... after reading you didn't procreate, life is good.

Bad guys are real things, they news if full of stories about robberies, muggings, car jacking, home invasions every day. A real and verifiable threat, even though I don't succumb to the fear, I am prepared just in case.

Oh, it is clear, very clear, being told I'm going to hell because I don't buy into the fairy tale is just annoying, stupid, and hateful, and causes me to chuckle, and frankly dismiss them as just another delusional person. And you don't have to go that far back in history to find a time that so called christians would also kill those that didn't buy into their fantasy.

Now that ISIS and it's threats, which are real, and I expect to see more of their fantasy based hate in this country, in addition to own local home grown bad guys, I don't leave in fear, but I am prepared.

You believe in your deity, what is your view of their deity? What are your view towards followers of the lead character in their fantasy.

When they say;

Since you believe in god, you're the biggest danger to society
.....or
Since you believe in god, I'm going to kill you.

You know there ain't a lot of difference, and fear is the common denominator to perpetuate their views on others.

Is this statement true as well?

Annoying and stupid? Sure. Now it's hateful? Not a threat though I see...do you see yourself as hateful as well?

I'm not into theology enough to answer this...I do know, I can differentiate between another person that says I'm not in-line with their beliefs vs another person threatening to kill me. It's a pretty distinct difference...

I would venture to say that they learned of Him in a similar fashion to us. I really have no idea about the "how" but readily accept the fact that they (other worlds) do exist. I believe God is omnipresent, not only here, but at "X-29" also. I would speculate that the "beings" there would have the same, or similar, problems as us. After all, even some of the angels in Heaven fell away from God so I don't think we or anyone else would be immune from sin. Assuming "they" had, or have, similar problems, I think it would be safe to say that they also have a Holy Book of some sort, applicable to them just as our Bible is to us. God is universal and I personally think His rules apply equally, everywhere. Rather than worry and speculate on what is "out there," concentrate on the here and now and developing your relationship with God. In time, we will know about what is "out there" and all see God's purpose for everything. In the meantime, I can only encourage you to study, study, and study some more. God is here, you only have to seek Him.

Don't sell yourself short. You more than contributed with all of your $h!t.

Keep on breaking the forum rules. Then you can do what your generation does best, point fingers for your failures.

Only if they have blacks, liberals, and Muslims.

Ohh look more racist bigotry. Same stuff that got the last thread deleted.

Why be politically correct when you can be right.

It's neither politically correct, right, or righteous. For being one of the bigger proponents for Christ, this is a saddening failure from you Ringo.

Then again, those who claim to be of Christian faith are the ones who keep posting pro racist comments and starting threads of half naked women...I'm not a fan of XD... But he is starting to make sense on some of his judgments on some members here.
