Self-Defense Tactics For An Enraged Attacker/The Myth of Stopping Power

While my ammo isn't nuclear powered, it does include Ranger SXTs, Cor-Bon DPX, Hornady Critical Defense, and Remington Golden Sabre +P, all in .45ACP. All of which are going to ruin the target's day.

Get, you some of them teflon coated, nuclear powered. illegal black talon bullets.

They'll stop Godzilla w/ one shot.
I've got some of those Black Talons and they are not teflon coated therefore not illegal. As for the nuclear powered part, I have my "Red Badge". Didn't see them on the list of of possiable contaminats. lol,

@ eagleeyes they stopped making them.

Zimmerman recently demonstrated that one 9mm round to the heart from less than 3 feet will certainly kill an athlete within seconds.

So imagine what a 45ACP, or 40, or 10mm, or 357, or 44 rem mag, or 50AE, or 500 would do?
The Zimmerman shooting is the exception to the rule. There are various ballistic formulas to get an idea of the effectivity of single-shot stops. The numbers don't bear out on a single shot, even for a .45. If TM was 240 pounds with large pectoral muscles, thicker bones and wearing a shirt, sweater and leather jacket, the outcome may have been much different. Effectivity is based on a large number of factors, none of which can be determined in the tenths of a second available to stop the goblin. Precisely why one continues defensive tactics as long as the goblin still presents a threat.

It doesn't matter what caliber weapon one carries in a case where they've already had a broken nose and are laying on their back having their head bashed against the concrete before drawing and firing. Their situational awareness and tactics failed them at least several seconds before that, perhaps several minutes before.

As BC1 accurately observes, Zimmerman is the exception to the rule, and that's true on several side-issues besides just the caliber of weapon he was carrying too. That whole scenario is controversial on nearly every issue considered in all shooting incidents.

Back to the drug-crazed zombie, the only approach is the same as it would be if he were perfectly sober and was just another run-of-the-mill predator; stop the threat. Never let the thought cross your mind that you're going to "kill" that SOB or anything like that, because if you don't train yourself to prevent that from crossing your mind, it will be just as likely that you will not be prepared to prevent that kind of statement from being said out loud, and in many jurisdictions, you could be toast if anyone hears it. "I shot to stop the threat to my life." Any deviation from that meme could be hazardous to your freedom and/or bank account.

I believe this has been very adequately covered elsewhere

I don't care if you have a .45, .44 magnum or anything else, you are not carrying a death ray and there are no magic bullets. Unless you are lucky enough to make a central nervous system hit, you can count on the bad guy staying in the fight until he loses enough blood to lose consciousness. To expect anything else to happen is living in a dream world. If he does fall over incapacitated just thank whatever personal deity you believe in because someone was looking over you that day.

Then the rule isnt very good, is it?

We had a sit down for some training dealing with difficult people from the sheriff department. One thing the instructor said during our training was to sit down in your living room , ( tv off!) and start to think about the worst possible act that could happen . A store , the mall, church, walking to your car or your own home. What would you do and how would you react. By doing this ever so often it will help you train your mind , so if that bad day ever come's you mabe ready to deal with it better.
I do this ever so often and it has given me a different view as to how bad things can get real quick!.

Black Talons are Illegal & Nuclear Powered?? Oh crap, I have two full boxes of those Godzilla killers. Now I'm worried, not about Godzilla anymore but for how much jail time I'm gonna get & Radiation sickness, jk.

You're OK as long as you're not in NJ. LOL

Not sure if your post is sarcasm or not, but erring on the side that its not and to prevent the perpetuating of fallacies and urban myths...

Black Talon's aren't illegal and were not Teflon Coated.....Winchester bowed to criticism and pulled them from the market. You can still get the same round without the Lubalox coating though..they are the Winchester SXT Rounds. Read more here.

Winchester marketing dept. Black Talon===>Same 'xact Thing.

I just realized I have always done that. Even in my teens. I just thought I was a sick pessimist.:yes4:

Except the TV was on or I was doing something else also. Guess I am a "multi-tasker"
