What Kind Of AK Do You Have? Any Mods? Post Pics!

Got a Robinson Armament VEPR II back in 2000. All stock but would like to do some mods when cash becomes available. Thinking Mako stock and forend grip, possibly a suppressor, 4 power scope etc. Really like the rifle because the receiver is an RPK design and probably the best stamped receiver of the AK's. I think it has good accuracy too for an AK using Wolf ammo, wonder what it would do with some high grade stuff? Would like to get one of their XCR rifles too.

2 of my brood. The top one is a Norinco that I recently redecorated with used surplus Romanian furniture.

AK47 Draco-C pistol.

It was cheap and it gets a lot of attention at the range. Last weekend while shooting it I hear "that thing only has a seven inch barrel!" Yup, and no stock so it is a real pain to shoot accurately, but accuracy isn't why I bought it. I will have to upload a picture when I have time.

Can't wait to see the pic. Below are my Dracos. The top one is a "C". Both of them were identical looking when they came out of the box. You spoke of the accuracy....do you have a sling on it?? You can use the sling in place of a stock and greatly improve control. Instead of tucking the gun in tight on your shoulder as you would with a stock, you wrap the sling around your shoulder and pull outwards. Mine are spot-on at 50 yds and pretty good at 100 yds. Parallax Tactical makes makes the sling plate that you see on both of mine. Fits right under the grip. Any single-point sling will work....you just shorten it so that it's taught when you have the gun raised in a normal firing position. If you look at my slings you'll see I used zip-ties to make them the appropriate length for me.

OK, so I suck at taking gun porn pictures and getting the website to display them properly. But here she is.

She has a sister that I will be uploading to the AR thread.

Nice gun, Birds. I love Dracos. The drum is a nice touch as well (kinda the Kalashnikov version of the classic Tommy gun!). I have a drum too but I haven't used it on a Draco.....yet

Chinese polytech legend ... pretty much stock "so far"... with arsenal of mags and a couple drums...

There isn't much you can do to a Draco without becoming a felon.

I do want to replace the front handguard with something more classy, a better grip, and the sling mount that B2Tall mentioned. I am just a little distracted with other "purchases" at the moment.

I'd love to put a vertical foregrip on my black one but, as you said, that would make me a felon unless I jumped through all the hoops required for such things.

IMHO, the Chinese make the best post-ban AKs that are available to us here in the US.

A completely stock Century AMD65 (which is made by Tennessee Guns, incidentally) and a IO AK 47, that one with a telescoping buttstock and a heat shielded Arsenal front lower handguard.

The muzzle brake on the AMD is a dual function device: Controls muzzle climb very nicely and AMPIFIES sound dramatically! :sarcastic:

ok, here's a couple of mine, yugo underfolder, utg front end, hogue grip, red dot riser customised to use iron sites, & red dot on top. second is a romanian, mak-90, milled reciever, nib, never been fired. gave her to my son. top in photo is my dpms lr-.308, when i got to reach out & touch someoneLink Removed

Century Arms M74 5.45x39

Century Arms 1974 Sportster 7.62x39

Both are painted what I call "desert brush" pattern. I did the base coat with tan, then used small twigs/branches as stencils as I sprayed OD green over them... it looks pretty cool, and blends here.

Soon to have a Century Arms WASR 10/63. :thank_you2:

I wonder if the CIA and NSA monitor this website like they do Facebook. I bet they like to know who has what and the location of said weapons.

That's why it always cracks me up when people list every gun they own in their signature line, chuckle, think somebody might just write that down?

Always wanted an AK but stayed away due to all the stories on lousy quality.
But recently picked up a new Romanian Century WASR 10 and really like it. On my first outing, I consistently hit a 1 sq ft target at 150 yds with Tiger ammo and iron sights - no malfunctions or problems.

My FFL, who is a big competition 1911 guy and believes a millionth of an inch is too much tolerance, was appalled at the construction of the AK I bought. But I see the reasons behind gun applications and configurations. For instance, I like Glocks for defense because they are effective, and carry more rounds than most other similar configurations. And I don't care how "ugly" some think they are - I will not be showing it to the BG for approval.

So if one understands the AK was made for ease of use, minimum maintenance, to accommodate a peasant in a war or revolution, and so on, they seem to do very well. And when I shot the AK it seemed to have a mechanical, machine-like sound when it cycled unlike any other gun I have shot.

I am very impressed by this Commie gun, and keeping with tradition, may decide to never clean it, but just keep shooting it until something happens when I will have to bang it on a hard surface or immerse it in some jungle pond water to clear it.

Are you some sort of dictator in training?

Nice.

The quality issue comes not from the AK itself but from the ill-fitting American parts (required by law) and poor QC that's associated with some US importers/modifiers. Century AKs have a spotty reputation although their customer service is said to be very good.
